On Friday we released a new update that included the “breaththru” tech and got great results for those who were having match making issues. It had one logic bug that we’re fixing now (if you can’t connect to 1 person it’ll stop trying to connect to anyone else) which should make a significant difference. The plan is to get that update up this afternoon (EST).
After today’s update the GPG and Stardock teams will be working on two different things.
The Stardock team has the developer of Raknet here in the office this week to help us improve the NAT facilitation code. The Impulse team has come up with ways to make Demigod internally a client/server game without having to change Demigod as well as hooking up the game to the proxy servers.
The GPG team is working on updates to encourage…better behavior by users in terms of dealing with people who disconnect along with some balance changes and some work on the in-game connectivity.
When that happens, we’ll probably release that as v1.01 and start the second epoch (stats reset, player stats reset with access to their first epoch stats in their account).
This will be the end of the “Beta” patches (for the foreseeable future anyway) though as we don’t want to split the community.
Stay tuned.
lol
GREAT! Game balance and tweeks comming! Now where's the "Erebus is too weak" posts???
Well then go get a refund then and go away.
It wasn't an attack at you, I appreciate your efforts..but I don't appreciate being ignored or having a bunch of smartasses give me responses that aren't helpful whatsoever. You can be pissy and sensitive all you want, but what's that getting you besides lost customers? As for the refund, maybe I'll consider it. I thought you had a decent level of professionalism, but if you want to hide behind smartass fanboys and give me a completely unprofessional response, I'd question it now.
my original question: What's the ETA on 1.01. That question has spawned this? Yeah, that's a joke, frankly.
Any word on the Coupons?
witchdocta, it's not the question which spawned all the replies... it's your attitude which is quite frankly pretty shitty. No reason to be professional to someone spamming the official forums repeating the same question and demanding personal responses to a question that nobody has an answer to other than 'when it's done'.
You are the one getting pissy and sensitive and then projecting it on others.
erb nerf seems good, might change him from slightly op to slightly up (does that work lol?)
we will see when we get to play it!
hopefully update comes out soon!
Yeah, it's completely unreasonable to ask the same question a few times and get frustrated after being ignored continually and all along having a bunch of smartasses take shots as if they're a bunch of knowitalls.
If you thought I had a decent level of professionalism then you were mistaken.
You seem to be under the misconception that you get to be obnoxious just because you bought a game. If you want your ass kissed then you should only buy products from public companies. I could, for instance, force a refund (and have many times over the years). It's a two-way street.
All I can say is that we're doing our best as the PUBLISHER of the game to get as many issues as possible addressed as quickly as possible.
How hard is it to answer a questiion?
How hard is it to answer an ETA question instead of overlooking and making assumptions that the question was nothing more than a confused inquiry? It's not. So are you going to go around and call every person who keeps inquiring about the same question that never gets an answer obnoxious? So that's your philosophy, huh?
Look, witchdocta, the answer to your question is: no one knows for sure. Not Stardock or GPG. I know it can be frustrating but all Stardock is asking for is your patience. Patience is a virtue, so hold on, alright?
Anyways, can we get back on topic and talk about this update?
While a nice fix, it's likely the problem with Bite is actually a secondary effect of lifesteal in general being broken. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/351563
i.e. All lifesteals in the game don't use post-reduction damage, they use pre-reduction damage. So Namoth's Ring, Mageslayer, Ashkandor, and Bite will lifesteal for the full amount of the ability/damage while completely ignoring armor (correct in Bite's case) but also QoT shield and Oak Invulnerability.
Making lifesteal use post-reduction values will probably also help make it so the first artifacts people almost always get are not always Mageslayer and Ashkandor. You might even be able to bump Bite's damage/health by 25 overall with such a fix.
Jager I'm totally with you on that...You just responded with more professionalism than one of the people heading customer relations on this game. That's my problem at this point. I asked a question originally and got a smarky response from some random person who treated me like I was dumb...so I responded to that and asked the question again. Then another smarky person came in...I responded and asked my question yet again.Frogboy proceeds to come in and take offense to my responses and gives me a "you should get a refund and go away" blast. Yeah, okay.
Instead of taking it personally, Frogboy could have just answered the question that for some reason he had either been ignoring or hadn't payed much attention to.
I'd like to meet the person who wouldn't get frustrated in my shoes after all of that.
....braces for impact as he feels that the almighty banhammer is about to fall sending shockwaves throughout the Demigod community...
but in the meantime...promotion time!
GO FACE OFF VS DEMIGEEK!!!!! Or join the attempt to begin an online team tournament for Demigod WITH PRIZES!!!!
As for update...why is knowing an ETA so critical...so they have other things on their minds right now! Like the european launch of Demigod which unfortunately still has issues which could make them lose customers LOTS OF EM!
Can't you just sit on your question for a few days and ask I don't know...tomorrow...when all the fuzz sould be resolved!
As for Frogboy! YOU RULE! Stardock rules.... The Frasier (write it right?) brothers are AWESOME! They deserve a raise!
I don't see a question on the ETA here. Anyone else see one? I see a snarky, flamebait response filled with hyperbole.
Oh, I'm so sorry about that. The question was asked in another seperate post..and the question was quoted in at least 2-3 others. Please excuse my mistake.
Let's see, you wrote:
and then
And you're complaining that I'm not being "professional" enough with you.
It is never a good idea to say a patch is going to come out on a given date because the unexpected can and will happen if they do.
For example If Brad says its coming out say the 15th of May for example but they run into some unexpected trouble so it can't be released on that date then they are going to have a hoarde of annoyed flaming him on the forums for lieing ect ect.
Its a lose lose situation. So do try to be considerate to Stardock.
Oh is there any word on being able to pause the game again btw for single player? It would be really cool to see it fixed at some point in the future.
Your frustration is warranted, but you have to empathize with the company staff also. They've been working long days for nearly three weeks now. You've been offered a refund which is about all Stardock can do if you don't want to wait. Yes, nobody answered your question, but that's because nobody had an answer. If someone had given you a time that they estimated it would be released, it would just call a ruckus if they didn't meet that deadline.
Heck, we were told we'd get a patch today this afternoon, and it's getting slightly past that. I'm frustrated myself, but I understand that programming has a lot of uncertainties you can't predict.
Frogboy is taking the brunt of all these criticisms and people who feel entitled to make demands, so he's understandably getting a bit irritated.
Try to understand and just let it go.
I'm not frustrated.
Oh, and the publisher doesn't owe you anything. If they wanted, they could have done nothing, yet they spent countless hours trying to fix the problems.
There are fanboys and doomsayers. Neither are good and you are in the second category, sorry.
Hehe, I'm litterally hours away from finishing my latest project and I still can't give an accurate ETA that I don't feel could be wrong by as much as 3 days
I'm not a doomsayer, I never directly attacked Frogboy other than giving a frustrated response as my questions were seemingly being ignored by everybody that actually mattered.
My frustration was building at this point. and after this smartass response, I responded to this person with:
You know what's appropriate? Having these near countless issues situated long before now. I gave this game time, but now we're at a point where this is just dumb. Yeah, yeah fanboys, flame on.
At that point I had asked a simple question multiple times having seen a moderator's response during those periods of time..so yes, I made a frustrated response. In which I finally get a response from Frogboy that isn't an answer but a sensitive response of:
[quote who="Frogboy" reply="25" id="2199912"
Well then go get a refund then and go away. [/quote]
Sure ETA questions can be a pain, but you can't say they're
A. Not legitimate questions
B. Worth ignoring
I'd rather them take their time than rush it out
I once heard the proper ETA equation is...
fRoughButEducatedGuess X 3 = fActualTimeIt'llTake
And the scary part is, with most larger projects where several things can go wrong, the 'times three' rule is pretty accurate.
What planet do you live on? Asking the ETA for a patch after the current patch, which has not been release, is a retarded question. I may not agree with having to beta test their software since release, but one area where the publisher has excelled in communication with the community about the status of upcoming patches. Any company that gives you an ETA on a future patch like you are asking is blowing smoke up your a@@. Just don't choke on the smoke.
