I don't think I've encountered a single human Sedna who uses the Yetis. Are they really that bad?
Sedna's minions have to be inherently weaker than other generals considering her regen and minion boosting auras. The survivability of Sedna's minion is really high.
And her other skills are so good it makes you wonder what to do.
However, in my experience, a minion build with Sedna works wonder if you don't have an AoE teammates to take on the opponent team general because otherwise you'll get swarmed by the ennemy and lose every fight easily.
Exemple : trying to fight minion Oak with Heal and Pounce is asking to die in a painful way as Sedna.
It's not that her minions are inherently weaker. As stated somewhere in the thread, one-for-one, yetis are actually the best
Yetis AREN'T amazing...alone. Try to get the minion skill up, and get the 24 hp/sec regen aura early on. I totally ignore pounce; it's unneeded. The problem is that yetis are mana-intensive and don't work too well as a "Side-skill". If you go for yetis, you need to dedicate yourself to a more minion-focused build...as opposed to a healbot with pounce.
I couldn't pinpoint the exact build I use...but I put my first point into yetis, second into healing, and from there I get the health regen aura, improve the minion skill, and other skills depend on the situation. At some point I'll get 4 yetis (third yeti skill).
My first cash is spent on getting monks. They go along with my first 2 yetis to heal them up. From there I get some good mana gear, maybe a potion or two, and the other minions (minotaurs and ranged)..upgrading all the minions over time.
What you end up with is a large minion force that's constantly being healed by the buffed priests that Sedna has + your own aura. With some decent mana gear, she can coninually replace losses. This build isn't good at chasing down and killing demigods (but then again, sedna herself isn't). However, the minion army is nigh unbreakable. In my experience, their only hope is to somehow get past the minions and kill Sedna, as a direct fight (even with AOE) tends to fail.
They are probably better then Shamblers and arent terrible - but the fact is that all of her other moves are 10x better then Yeti summoning. Heal, Punce, Healing wind + silence and maginifence silence and + hp/movement. All better then Yeti's easily.
If those all existed in a vaccum you'd be entirely correct. Except abilities synergize with each other, and getting one ability doesn't stop you from getting others.
Pounce is the only other ability you have that lets you fight. Great, except Sedna dies horribly unless you can heal (which can be stopped/interrupted in any number of ways).
Heal is useful, though not needed as much for a support-oriented Sedna.
Healing Wind is a great example of why Yetis are great. Healing wind + priest support makes Yetis nigh unstoppable.
Silence is situational.
You can even still get most of that stuff. The only thing I give up with my minion build, really, is Pounce...and I don't really find that I need it.
Full minion spec Sedna can be quite effective at killing any demigod. Especially if you can jump them with a teleport while they are trying to capture one of your flags. The only real counters for this is Parasitic Egg, TB's and Erebus' aoe stuns.
Zygwen, only if the player is a retard will he die to a minion build. That's not what it's for.
Then I must be playing against a lot of weaker players because only a handful of players give me trouble. You being one of the few. I only consider myself an above average player and expect that once more good players show up it will be harder to get kills. On the otherhand, I expect that in those situation they will either leave me alone and go after my team mates or try to gang up on me.
In my opinion, most Sedna players think Yetis suck because their dependance on Heal + Pounce prevent them from fully realizing the power of a full Minion Spec.
While minion builds aren't very good for killing DGs, they still can. You forget that Sedna is still pretty fast; if another DG is wounded, Sedna can many times chase him down and kill him...with the minions right behind if he tries to fight
If your not playing 1v1 it really matter what your teamates are taking. The only problem with a Minon build is that if the opponent has any speed enchacements then he can just walk away from your minons at almost anytime. Sedna's problem is that she has no slows so people just tend to walk away when they get in trouble.
If you've got a Regulus on your team who's taken Shrapnel Mines, Maim, Poison Daggers or Mark of the Betrayer or a Eberus with Bite and Charm, Torch Bearer playing Ice, generally any Oak player as they all take Penitence and Surge of Faith, or a Unclean Beast that that takes Posion claws and will save his Foul Grasp till the person is running way then you can kill demigod quite well. The key is teamworks and politely mentioning that you'll heal him, if he stop people from running away when their weak. The damage output of minion is incredible espically if you've bought the right gear and taken the right favor item. With Ring of Divine Might giving plus 10 damage to all your minion (Which end game is basically +100 damage over your 10 minions.) you can be come a incredible force and I've seen demigod die just trying to reach Sedna in the middle of her minion swarm.
As always the key to victory is teamwork.
