This is how I hope Demigod looks in 12 months time:
That's about it I guess. Note that I said I'd like to see the game look like this in 12 months not that these things should take 12 months to be implemented.
Thoughts?
Demigod is a totally different game, it would not work very well. I guarantee that if too many Demigods are added a huge flood of unbalance postare gonna flood the threads. Demigod is suppose to be a tight, balanced, affair... to be considered a competitive game as the developers have said they intend it to be, it needs to be balanced and the demigods need to be CAREFULLY added and tweaked. More is not always better...
I think it will be shutdown.
Can you please go and troll elsewhere or go back to playing the dota you worship so much? Surely you have something better to do.
Posting is a priviledge, schloob. Could you find another forum to troll in?

After 12 months imbalances in the game will seem glaring, and hopefully the devs will start to do something about it.
I kinda would like 16 Demigods actually. 12 seem a little bit too few to me and we will see the same demigods every other games. It'd be nice if we see a totally different set of demigods each game, that would make it feel really fresh. And yeah totally agree with Frogboy that if we add too many DGs it will be no favourite.
12 demigods is good number imho
also at least 3 of each map type
HAHAHAHAHA
oh my god... awesomeness.
12 demigods! I would like to see that. I also don't think that the game need more than let's say 20 demigods (at most).
Demigod isn't Dota. The devs don't have to make all the same choices than dota, especially when they don't make sense. And 90, 100 demigods would be insane, first the cost would be huge and second if you want to add variety, you can add a reasonnable number of demigods and you can also add maps, items, abilities, flags...., demigod doesn't have the design limitations that a mod have (for exemple if the devs want to add a fifth ability, they can do it easily whereas in dota it is almost impossible).
Sure, there are good ideas in dota but just copying any design choices from dota would be a huge mistake (and i don't see the interest in creating a dota 2.0).
I'm sure many people have a favourite DotA hero from the 90+, i know i do. Saying that you want to limit the variety in an online game just because it will cause some demigods to be played less and that there will be no favourite, could be the dumbest thing i have ever heard in this community. If you make 20 Demigod that are all well thought out and interesting to play in their own manner, people will have their own favourites and they will all be used, considering they are all interesting and fun to play.
"I worry about having too many Demigods because it dilutes the impact of each one" Is such a terrible excuse.
This made me laugh. It's actually rediculously easier to add a 5th, 6th, 7th etc ability for DotA then it is for Demigod. The interface of Demigod is hard coded to contain 4 ability slots, they can add more of 1 of the ability slots switches the remaining 3 slots to another set. For example if you wanted to add another ability onto Rook there must be either a rehaul of the current interface to fit another ability in, or some sort of transformation of rook that will warrant it to have another page of abilities. I guess a Page Up and Down button can be set onto the interface that will allow a 5th skill to be entered but that would be a stupid design decision.
So in conclusion, Demigod has far more design limitations then DotA has regarding implementing more content. Your statement was absurd.
I 100% agree with the reply above.
There are SO MANY interesting abilities, each unique, that can be added to new demigods, without diluting them. 90+ demigods is diluting. 20-30 is not. 12 demigods is way, way too little for this game, and if i knew this is the way you think and want to act in the future, Frogboy, i never have been bought this game in the first place, hoping for a better future.
At least give the tools to the modding community, so they can tweak the game. That's how DOTA was born anyway...
I don't know WHY there is so much hate for DOTA, that you avoid it like plague on this forums. Why? Because of the asshole community? Assholes are everywhere, the world is full of them, deal with them. Any game that is popular, WILL have them. DOTA is very popular, Demigod is not (yet).
I'm not saying the Demigod should clone DOTA, it already proven that is not a clone, by adding citadel upgrades, skill trees, and flags. But work on this. Add more features inspired by DOTA. DOTA is so popular for a reason, doesn't any of the haters think any moment about this? Why not build Demigod so it can be good for both sides (the DOTA community and the current demigod community) and improving the DOTA concept? It's a win-win for all, more sales and more happy people playing it.
i am just stating that you can "easily" modify your own engine, whereas a sdk always has limitations. It has been a while since i last played warcraft 3 but i don't remember any hero using more than the 4 casual skills. And also that you can easily implement new things like war score, flags, a skill tree,.... whereas i don't see how it could be done for dota. i don't see what is absurd in that
If they make more Demigods to the same quality of the current Demigods why would no one play them?
Because regardless of how well designed something is, it's how it performs in the game that will determine how much it's played in the online environment, especially when the game is based around competitive play like Demigod. 90 Demigods all equally balanced in both 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 game environments while taking into consideration items and artifacts is a rather unrealistic expectation. 20 Demigods is fine, however if they don't believe that 20 Demigods are going to play 20 equally different and fun ways than I'm happy to accept 12. DotA abandoned balance - they gave the players so many heroes so that they could say "If one doesn't work, try another".
Right now I just wan online stability first. Allow me to find players and connect to them on a 85% chance basis.
So far with every patch update I have done I have yet to play against one person. I am dead serious. It saddens me because I did play the single player tournament and had a blast and I really want to play against someone online.
8 Demigods is enough. 12 Demigods would be fine. 16 and above is too much.
more demigods = the better
I wouldn't mind more Demigods so long as they are balanced and unique. If we are going to be making Demigods that are "carbon" copies of others than there really is no point. To be fair I think we could pull off at least 12, and maybe 14 or 16 with original and unique ideas. The key would be to do it over a longer time frame. Maybe just me, but another thing I would really like is a BIGGER map format. Its not that we don't have big ones already, but the levels are quite similar in terms of design. Most of them are floating platforms that we kill towers on. I'd love to see instead of just a few towers or fortresses leading on a path to a citadel actual huge bases and a huge map. Just for bigger longer battles, also milk a bit more out of the 5 vs 5 concept imo.
Regardless, I must say the constant updates and discussion I am seeing on this forum is amazing. Kudos to Stardock and everyone involved in keeping things this way, you almost never get this many updates so many times a day about issues and fixes and problems, the fact that you guys are so dedicated to making us the consumer happy with our experience is not only refreshing, it is very much appreciated.
When I first got involved with Demigod I had no opinion about Dota other than thinking it was an extremely well designed and innovated game that could spark the creation of a new genre.
Now, 10 months later, I loathe not Dota but Dota fans because so many of them act like total jerks. I feel that I do a service to the Demigod community by trying to make sure that hard core Dota fans will not want to play Demigod and will go find some other game. I'm tempted to help market League of Legends to get some of the more militant people to just go away.
I love you frog. I am very easy going, but the level of hatred many of them have had for the game really makes me mad. It doesn't help that many also are foul mouthed trash talkers in game and on the forum that take any fun or value right out of the experience.
On the flipside, I know there are many in the community who are fun to play with and very skilled. It's not that anyone has a problem with DOTA or the DOTA players, but I think we are just tired of a subset of players from that community who have nothing to add but trolling, vitriol, and hate.
looks like there is going to be a war of the games dota vs demigod
