Hi all,
This is a build I'm having a lot of fun with, so I decided to share. Nothing special in it, but you might like it.
Skills goes as follow:
You can change the order of Maim & Explosive Mine if you like a more aggressive style, it can give you an edge when the enemy tries to run away. Your choice. I just like mines, they look cool, and creeps are falling like flies with them.
Anyway, on with the build.
Early game :
Buy Gauntlets of Brutality and Scaled Helm (for mana regen - always useful) and activate Angelic Fury.
You're not a melee guy, so if you can stick with one of your teammate, do so and head for the same flag they are. Try this up to level 5.
Early to Mid game :
If you have enough money, don't forget to buy at worse the Banded Armor, and if you can go directly for the Hauberk of Life, always useful. If you have some mana problem, go for Plenor Crown/Vlemish Faceguard instead, your choice. You will eventually get those sooner or later.
It is mandatory that before engaging any DG 1v1 you use Mark of The Betrayer. It will hurt them quite enough already, and when you follow up with your Angelic Fury, you will do more damage than most of the other DG (with base attack, that is)
Mid to Late game :
No surprises there. Sell whatever equipement that can be replaced by trinkets & artifacts. If you can buy Narmoth's Ring, do so, it will give you a nice HP boost, as well as some cool life leech. Then of course, don't forget the Heart of Life. Between those two, if I have to get one, I usually go for the ring. But it's personal and you should buy the one that fits you best at the moment.
Also, when you have the money, how about buying an Orb of Veiled Storms along with a Mage Slayer ? Mainly for the attack speed boost they give.
So why on steroids ? Well, try it and see for yourself. When I see someone spamming arrows at more than twice the usual speed, at almost 400 damage each time they land...well...that's what I call a nasty one.
As for the team :
Killing DG is nice, we all love it, gives gold...so don't be greedy. Think about upgrading the citadel. Your team will be very happy with it ! With this build you can make gold rain, so you'll have enough for citadel upgrades and your equipement. Think about it.
[Edit]
Forgot a few things. Always get some boots with speed bonus. As for the Favor item, I go for the Switft Anklet. Feels great to catch up or outrun other DGs. If necessary, throw in a Wand of Speed as well.
Great post man! Posts like this are what make this community so great.
BUT!
I think your build has a few issues...
for one, mines at level...12???
Mines scale very poorly late game. They are by far superior as a decent way to kill creeps quickly, and as a defensive measure againts aproaching demigods.
I gotta also say that if you do not take snipe you are letting go of AT LEAST 3 demigod kills, probably more, not to mention all the times people will not enter a flag lane simply because they know they are gonna take 500-600 damage from your snipe, and they are too cheap to by potions or to lazy to run back and heal.
IMO Regulus is better if he is the one picking up spare flags early game to gain xp, while providing snipe support, and moving into AF late game. I realize this is a poor strategy for 2v2, but I haven't found a non gimp way to build him for that.
ignore this post
I've done some games with No-Skill-Attack-Only Regulus builds. Basicly you gotta stay close to towers or run, in the begining, otherwise you are toast. I skip the mines, and go Scope, Fury, Maim, Attributes. If you survive the early game, you can really dominate the late game once you get some serious crit items. You just gotta watch out, to not fall behind. Focus on exping/gold farming the creeps. Ignore the other demigods unless you can get a sure kill in team. Remember, you are an easy target, because you are SQUISHY.
Thanks for your feeback !
Of course, mines at level 12 is a bite late, but you can replace it with Maim if needed, or Snipe.
As I said, it's all about supporting other DGs, as you deal a lot of damage, but early game Regulus is very very easy to kill. So going solo & head to head with the enemy isn't really that good of a move.
I will take your advice in consideration and try to put in some Snipe to see what I can get out of it
I wonder why so many people think their are bad Regulus players. I would not do this build ever
Actually, thats a pretty good build. I would recommend a couple tweaks to try out.
First, angelic fury and enhanced attributes are a must but try to get the enhanced attributes a little later into the game. Evenly distribute your points in enhanced attributes, mines, and Mark of the betrayer.
Second, if you are trying to be an auto attack build, then you may want to focus on damage output.
Getting atleast Maim I asap makes alot of sense.
In general its a good idea to not do whatever HorseRadish is suggesting.
Anyway, its not a terrible build. You dont need Sniper Scope that early. Its a minimal boost to range. Having more range than towers is key eventually, but you arent going to be going at towers at level 2 (its a completely inefficient use of time at that point), so save it til later. You should have a point in snipe pretty early. Its good for early harassment. I like taking it at level 3. You can save other points in Snipe until later if you want (I like getting AF and EA high before pumping Snipe personally).
Mark of the Betrayer Immune, Auto-Attack Regulus
Skills: Angelic Fury 5 > Sniper's Scope 3 > Enhanced Attributes 6 > Maim 3 (get Maim 1 soon) > +3 other
Items: I start with Scaled Helm and Gauntlets of Brutality.
Favor: I get the Swift Anklet. If there is no favor I get the 1000g 10% movement boots.
Usually I save 3300g to get Slayer's Wraps (10% 2x crit), unless I really need Wand of Speed before that.
Then I get Duelist's Cuirass (5% 1.5x), Wyrmskin Handguards, Warlord's Punisher, both of which I will sell again to get Mageslayer.
Sometimes I get Orb of Life, if I have to do alot of back and forth.
Most game you dont get to mageslayer. If you score alot of kills you can get Ashkandor (10% 4x). In this game I got Girdle of Giants aswell. After that its really really sick. You just stand there, crit 5k and leech back all life.
Gameplay: Early - farm, and run back to towers if chased, Mid: Chase weakend DGs and get gold for kills, Late: Critkill all enemies
I can't see this build being very good at the beginning or even middle of the game without any utility burst damage like mines and snipe, and how often do games really last long enough for a "stat-stomping" Regulus to get beefy enough to be effective?
Well, at least you get Sniper's Scope I early on for tower destruction and MotB I for some snaring and surprise burst, but even still...
Unfortunately, Regulus is pretty weak and should be a support character until around lvl 12. MotB is just a closer range snipe but with AOE.
Yes, this is for big games, and it's support. But if you can hold the position, the teams lategame chances are very good, because you will dominate. Once you get the 3300g gloves, you can start killing the towers, if the enemy DG are busy for a while. This will really come in handy, once you get angels/catas, and these creeps can walk into the enemy base.
why oh why do you get slayers wraps early , get gloves of fel darkur for a larger chance to proc . also get the "lightning thinige" with mana and warlords punisher early , these will give you more bang for your buck , sell of fel darkur for slayers wraps later into the game.
I just started playing this game a few weeks ago and upon reading the forums and decided on twinking the spec around a bit to work for quick hits and nice dps. I found a nice spec that works nice but it takes a bit to get together the proper gear since I don't play online and play usually with 2 friends against 5 ai 2 norm 3 hard any advice on good damage gear that leaves you alive long enough to survive against teh hard AI's quick hits and crits while running clear cross half the map in seconds leaving you lagging behind?
only dps items worth getting are slayers wraps for 3300g and mageslayer for 8000g.get them and you're all set.take swift anklet favor item if you feel the need for speed.early game items -> banded armor, scaled helm, scalemail, gauntlets of brutality (~2,000g) (+totem of revelation, 50g to see ganks from further away)mid game items -> hauberk of life, vlemish faceguard, nimroths armor, unbreakable boots, slayers wraps (~10,000g)late game items -> narmoths ring, vlemish faceguard, nimroths armor, mageslayer, slayers wraps (~20,000g)throw in a wand of speed, some teleport scrolls + flag locks when needed.
I was about to comment on this and talk about it being such a noob build... but I realize it was posted in May, and decided I'd save it my Ire.
Note to noobs, this build only works well against poor players/ai
