I've just purchased Demigod from the Demigod website, and I'm obviously new.
Any asian players out there please give me a shout.
I've tried to connect online a few times (both for online skirmish and pantheon), but was not successful - at best I get a "trying to connect" screen and end up being kicked off. Do I need to disable my firewall to play online ?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Open Port 6000-6200
/serverproxyonly
And I still can't connect to anyone.
And I am on Singnet.
My hope is on 1.01.
yes i can play demigod on custom/skirmish and pantheon
1. install yourfreedom
2. install openvpn
3. here are my configuration (do not run openvpn.exe, configure the path in yourfreedom), see screenshots below:
Not really working at the moment. I'll try to tweak Demigod around more. You can connect to everyone on custom games? Do you use the /serverproxyonly command still? What about firewalls? No portforwarding required I hope?
Sorry for the questions =/
i can connect to everyone
i use /serverproxyonly, disable all firewalls, no portforwarding because im behind a proxy server thats why i use yourfreedom
can play on garena/demigod/battlenet
though not really needed, but might help, try adding a dns on the tap-win32 adapter(openvpn virtual network adapter)
Download the Windows Installer version of OpenVPN (if you're not running Windows and would still like to use OpenVPN mode, get in contact with us -- it works but not out of the box) and install it. You should use a version 2.1, not version 2.0.9 (2.0.9 will not work properly). Simply click through the installer, the defaults are fine. Once it's installed, click on "Start", "Control Panel", "Network connections". Find the TAP-WIN32 interface, right-click on it and choose "Properties". In the protocol list, find "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", highlight it and click on "Properties". Use a manually configured DNS server: 85.214.18.161. If you feel like having two of them, use 85.214.100.186 as the second but it's not needed. Click all the OK buttons to close the windows. That's all the configuration you need, you don't have to mess with the slightly cryptic internals of OpenVPN, the Your Freedom client will do this for you.

Do you connect instantly or is there waiting involved.
Apparently I did exactly what you did and when I attempt to join a game, the connection info box will just show 'Waiting for connection data' endlessly, then after that, it will show no other players on the game except me.
If I disable YourFreedom and go back in, everyone works as per 'normal'. I will be able to access the connection info, but I will just be 'Attempting to connect', which is back to square one, literally.
Apparently the YourFreedom application glitches my Demigod even more. Sorry.
I use the exact same settings and configurations as your YourFreedom.
Thanks for the custom game, Kon.
At least Singapore players can (sort of) connect to each other.
P/S I was amazed at what the UB could do - he was unkillable at level 20!
Yeah that poison breath attack is so powerful.
Never seen AI ever use it.
I wake up at 5AM to test 1.01.
And I still can't connect to others in Skirmish or Custom Game as a Singnet User.
CitizenKane can now play online?
Seeker are the ports you forwarded for UDP?
Port 6000-6200 Open
As a Singnet user I can ONLY PLAY with Singnet User and Starhub user.
I can't connect to Aussie.
So the same goes to CitizenKane.
1.01 didn't really help for me.
Still in the same Situation.
So we Singnet user can only join a game with only all SG people.
I wish there is a way to Kaobei Singnet making it big.
Like complain it in Digital Times or something.
Then Singnet will have no choice but to fix the issue.
Made a detail post in
http://forums.demigodthegame.com/354697
Maybe 3 more months later we will be able to play online.
Or when Demigod officially launch in SG and Singnet got bombed by complains and have to fix it.
Hey, same issue. I've informed Stardock on it. Lets see how they respond.
I was under the impression that it is already launched in Singapore.
It appears that I can only play online with other Singapore players (hence the one custom game that I could actually get into for ... the longest time). This was before patch 1.01 - and I haven't tried Demigod with the patch yet.
Let's see how it goes.
But objectively speaking, I do tend to think that Demigod's popularity, at least as far as Singapore is concerned, is going to be extremely limited, unless there are some drastic changes to address the connection issues (which Frogboy seems to think have been fixed).
I'll hang around a bit more - principally to see how patch 1.01 pans out for me. But I'm not really interested in spending much more of my limited free time reading "matchmaking system failed" messages.
No prob CitizenKane2, It was a pretty fun game with no lag at all. I'm suprised that I had a crash error that minimized the game to the desktop but when I reopened it it was still there. I think it might have been the Impulse chat that crashed or something. Oh well it was fun I still need some improving and getting to know the items better.
Hmm If I was a Singnet User I would be pretty pissed..maybe U guys shld write in and send a letter threatening to join Starhub haha.
Sigh was hoping 1.01 could fix it so that we could more players.
Can't lah.
Stupid 2 year knn contract.
How to jump ship.
We have 2 choices
1) Ask for refund for DG
2) Continue to wait like an idiot for a Miracle Patch or Singnet to do something
I am going to give this game untill July.
I got a feeling the MIO router got something to do with the unable to connect problem. Are all the Singnet users using the MIO modem + router? Anyone using something else and cannot connect?
No it not just mio, its the way singnet handles their connection. Im using a linksys router and I got dced quite often. Seriously piss me off in getting good games.
I am using LINKSYS ROUTER WRT54G.
Not using Mio.
And I can ONLY connect to fellow SPORE.
Can't connect to US/EU/AU people.
Looking at the number of people in here.... Maybe we can get hamachi to work..
Most of the people in GR seems to be running .91 version of the game.
So sad that it's better to be a pirate than a legit customer.
And it seems that those starhub people who manage to connect to the US EU people experiences high ping am i correct? 300+ and beyond. The so called advantage for Stardocks to do P2P is the low ping, doesnt seems to apply to us.
Anycase those who absolutely want to play the game online and just nice have cable TV subscription can try to get the hubstation i read on SH website that it comes with free 1mbps cable broad band. Dont ask me does it work or what i just happen to found out about the hubstation's feature just now...
If you wish to pursue a refund, please contact sales@stardock.com.1. If you request a refund but have been able to play online for more than a few hours, we will be able to provide a 75% refund only.2. Our normal refund policy timeframe is back in effect for those customers that fall under Number 1. If you paid with PayPal, we can only provide a refund within 60 days, for credit/debit cards, 90 days.3. All refund requests for games purchased at retail must be received within 30 days of the purchase. Number 1 applies here as well. We will not provide any refunds for retail copies beyond this timeframe. So basically, if you've been able to play online and simply don't want the game anymore, a full refund is not possible. If you haven't been able to play online and have been sticking by us, you will not be penalized should you request a refund.
I bought the game 2 weeks ago with the 50% coupon hoping 1.01 will fix everything.
And only manage to play 1x Custom Game Online yesterday with a fellow SPORE. (Under 1h of online playtime.)
With v1.01 out, the Demigod connectivity issues are pretty much behind us.
This statement is giving me a lack of confidence in whether I should keep playing the waiting game for a miracle patch or maybe just ask for a refund and get it over with.
300+ms is normal for us when connecting to US/EU.
I assume you never played WoW or other MMOs hosted in US.
At least those Starhub folks can connect to them.
We Singnet folks can ONLY connect to people in SG.
Can't connect to people in US/EU/AU.
I did played online games across the ocean. Yes i know 300+ is normal, what i trying to say is stardocks do something special this time round by making the game connect all the players through P2P and the advantages they stated is a low ping. Which in our case is not true proven by our SH friends and hence it is entirely not necessary to do the P2P thingy and can stick to the old server thingy and we the singnet people might not have a problem with the game.
Btw no offence ya.
I might try the hubstation thing, i got cable TV subscription if it works will tell you guys.
