I've just purchased Demigod from the Demigod website, and I'm obviously new.
Any asian players out there please give me a shout.
I've tried to connect online a few times (both for online skirmish and pantheon), but was not successful - at best I get a "trying to connect" screen and end up being kicked off. Do I need to disable my firewall to play online ?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Btw, i got mine from Comics Connections at PS. you can check the place out too.
Double posted...
Welcome, kons45. I too am pretty psyched with the growing community we got here on this side of the world. Lots of good and friendly players. Hopefully I'll see ya in game soon (not this weekend, though since I'm off to a soccer tournament ).
So Comics Connections already has it on retail? Where would PS be? And may I know the price as well? I am REALLY eager to get it this weekends so I can game throughout the weekend.
Prove it. GOGOGO -> http://www.impulsedriven.com/dem
With the new patch, I'm back to being unable to connect to any online game (skirmish, custom and panthenon)
I am afraid of that, was noticing similar symptoms as before you were able to play. It's just strange.
It's kinda worse now since you've already tasted online games. Perhaps report this in the Demigod Problems subforum? I'm pretty sure you're not alone. At the very least, I can imagine several other Mio users facing the same issue with Demigod.
If it's any help, perhaps you host the games next time? Also, just PM me if you need someone to create games for you to test out any new router settings or whatsoever.
PS - Plaza Singapura, level 6, next to the Jap restaurant. They are selling for $68.
In about the 2 weeks since I purchased Demigod, I would say the connection issue has been intensely frustrating. Since last Friday's patch, it has been impossible for me to connect online.
It's hard to recommend Demigod to anyone really - you won't be able to tell whether you can connect online before purchase; and even if you can connect online, you won't know whether that will change with the next patch.
Yes, I can easily imagine the frustration you're going through. I simply make the recommendations based on gameplay, but warn the person about the current connectivity turmoil. I sincerely hope the proxy servers that Frogboy mentioned would help allay your problems CitizenKane2, along with the others sharing the same. They are planned to be up by this week.
I really wish I can do more to help!
I'll wait till the 24th may as prices will drop. Also Ah Lim at Upp Serangoon was selling the same imported version for $60. 1 week to go
While I'm still unable to connect online even with the latest patch (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the planned proxy servers later this week), I have been playing a lot of single player tournaments
I've completed Queen of Thorns (she ends up being a god of blight), Regulus (god of vengence), Unclean Beast (a destroyer god), Oak (god who stands guard over the departed souls) and Torch Bearer (a god of reconcilation - this one was a surprise for me ).
I'm not sure I can stomach playing Senda in a tournament - not really my cup of tea after playing a healing priest for 3 years in World of Warcraft raids
I do wish some single player content could be added for Demigod - hell, even improving the AI (or providing some custom optinos for AI) might be interesting.
You would be pleased to know that Frogboy mentioned allowing the AI to be modded in future. Sorian (a very accomplished AI modder in Supreme Commander, which shares the same engine as Demigod) is waiting for exactly that. Even I tingle with excitement at the prospects of Sorian-grade AI.
Fingers and toes crossed!
Regarding your connectivity, CtitizenKane2, you might wish to send your log files to Stardock to help them out:
Excerpt from latest Frogboy's Journal:
Some people have said “I used to be able to connect fine, now I can’t.” We really need data from those people in the form of their impulsereactor.log files (located in my documents\my games\gpg\demigod) which you can send to support@stardock.com with (ideally) a description of what happened and whether you used to be able to connect so we can see. At this point, people shouldn’t be having any problems connecting other than those with router issues.
Hey guys. Sorry I've been away for a bit. Had that tourny this past weekend and for the past few days have been rather busy in the evening so had no time to play games. Hopefully in the next couple of days I can get on and meet up with you all. I'm sure you've all become pros now with all those days of practice!
Don't worry man, we haven't played much the past few days. CitizenKane2 still has trouble connecting. I look forward to mroe games in future, especially with the planned proxy servers.
Thanks for the headsup SyDaemon (about the impulsereactor.log.files). I try to locate that and see if anything useful from that log can be sent to the technical forums for help.
Well, is the log file ? (Again failed to connect to a Custom game a few minutes ago)

Did you send the file directly to that Stardock email address with a description of what you did?
That aside, I can't identlfy any anomalies in what you've posted here other than the last two lines... not that I'm expecting myself to be able to tell anyway.
EDIT:It looks like the latest updates got more of us, but I can't be sure. While I still am able to connect to those with whom I regularly play, we could not get a game going because someone would be unable to connect to someone else. Those of whom I distinctly remember playing with (everyone in my friend's list are players whom I've had games with at little to no lag), are not unable to connect to me even.
Proxy servers please come and do your work soon!
New patch still has problems....
Just updated to V.1.00.0114 and still has probs connecting to games. Really starting to lose faith in this game ever going to work again.
The updates are coming in small steps. Try again after this week. We've bought it; we like the game; it's not essential to play it everyday.
Might as well wait out this instability. They are trying hard to deliver on their remedy.
I'm personally have trouble getting games going with anyone outside the ground of friends I usually play with, but I am just going to be patient.
After update this evening, still couldn't connect to Panthenon. Going to try custom games.
Well I can host but connectin is still shaky. Problem may well be with Singtel as Frogboy is saying there are wierd problems with 2 ISPs in AMerica. Still I beleieve they are improving the connectivity issues. ANyway CitizenKane2 I got DCed on our last game, nothing to do with Demigod
With tonight's update, I still can't connect to Panthenon (matchmaking service failed). I have the "serverproxyonly" command activated.
I've purchased Demigod for a week over and its quite frustrating to say that I've NEVER EVER been able to connect to ANY SINGLE online multiplayer game. Not the Internet, not LAN. I've never entered an online game lobby before. Its really really sad.
I guess I'm going to leave Demigod for another week and if nothing changes, I will just treat it as money well spent to learn to never ever buy anything from Stardock ever again.
