By item spammers I mean people who constantly buy flag blocks and teleport scrolls, effectively blocking you from getting any war rank or any useful stat or experience boosts. My friend and I just went up against two people who did this, and it was astounding how there was ZERO way of preventing this without spamming ourselves. It ruins the game for me.

you just have to suffer through it. After a while they've spent a few thousand gold on items that work once whereas you can save up for an ashkandor and rape them and their families anyways. (True story)
Sounds to me like their perfectly valid strategy worked as intended. But while they keep teleporting away, you can farm reinforcements for experience If you can lockyour own flags, spend the money on potions and get the experience advantage from staying on the field. In the end you'll have to pick a flag, wait out the lock, and beat them before you can take it. Hopefully you'll have enough of a level advantage when you do this.
Unless it's a dominate map, in which case, the game's about over. Especially that one map with only one flag.
The second I see a flag lock is the second I know I'm not playing newbs. Lets ya know it's gunna be a fun game

On top of that, each costs 250 gold. Now, even if both people did this, that would be two flags capped and held for 30sec after which your team can cap if they tried. Your team could harrass them off of a flag, or just cap the extra flag (there's always 3) and gang up 2vs1 on a single flag of theirs.
It's a great methode that can easily be rectified by doing the same yourself ang then ganging up against the enemy. My team did this after the enemy team started blocking off flags with caps. We won because we got the most kills both in creeps and players so our citadel quickly upgraded and our creeps pushed way back into their territory.

I haven't come up against it before but I'd imagine the response is to capture and hold flags, and to try to predict where the enemy is going rather than chasing after him.
The biggest value in this technique is if they can get to a flag, kill some creeps, capture the flag, then have you charge at them, they lock the flag, teleport way over the other side, where they can cap another flag and kill more creeps while you have to leg it.
Basically if you don't have teleport scrolls you're going to be at a disadvantage on most any map and the bigger the map the bigger the disadvantage
well, you make it sound as if this is an exploit. this is the way demigod is played. No matter what game type your playing locking flags can be advantageous simply to put the other team behind in war score.
Two ways to beat this.
First, just wait them out. They'll keep spending, and you'll keep profiting. If you play your cards right, you should slowly outpower them to the point where they can't resist you.
Second, and more complicated way, is to spread their resources too thin by pushing multiple flags on the map. Just keep moving and capping. The more flags they have to attempt to lock, the higher their chance of making a mistake, and the higher your chance of pushing through.
Seems to me that they'll have a better warscore, but much less mula to spend on upgrades...
Yep, if they've spent all their gold on teles and locks then they won't have any gold to take advantage of their higher warscore by getting catas and giants quickly.
I think I would only be worried if the opponent also got a QoT or UB in the team. Due to their capability of taking down towers at low level (no, not with uproot).
Meh, don't really know for sure because I haven't fight anyone who use cap right yet in 2v2.
It's a gold sink for them, let them waste there money because as someone else said, they won't have the cash later on to exploit their high war rank. Also, if they are in fact teleporting out frequently they are likely not getting a lot of XP from reinforcements since they are moving around too much. The teleports can make quick travel to get lots of XP but again, 250g every 30 seconds is a lot of money down the drain.
He didn't say it was an exploit, he said it ruins the game for him. I tend to agree. It's effective, but it's not even remotely fun.
well, sadly, fun and winning don't often go hand in hand. but as others have said let them waste cash. most games where I or my team flag lock is simply in cases when 2 flags are near each other, (lock one and fight over the other) or locking portal flags.
if they are indeed locking every single flag and teleporting all over the map then by all means let em waste gold.
For some reason I keep thinking that you can use a flag lock to undo another flag lock... anyone able to confirm this?
Remember that you do not need teleport scrolls to teleport. There is a favor item, one of my favs, Amulet of Teleportation. If they are using that, then they really aren't using too much gold. 250 for a flag cap is nothing.
And what's wrong about this strategy?
They are spending to do that, it's not free

sounds like you got out Strategized flag locking has always been important.
Pretty much what everyone else said. Use your experience advantage to pound them. Use your income towards cit. upgrades. You'd be suprised how much of a difference they can make. They'll waste their money on disposables while you have better creeps/items and are higher level.
As the others said, when you see locks coming out you know you are in for a fight as the other team knows what they are doing. Be prepared for a tough and fun game!
also...you can interrupt their teleport or flag-lock attempt and then pound them into the ground.
In the game I mentioned, it was terrible because I played rook so I couldn't really make it across the map very fast, also favor items were enabled and my favor was glitched so i had no favor items to work with. We were already at a disadvantage. Yeah you guys were right about waiting it out and farming creeps the whole time. I was trying to out maneuver them, which failed horribly. It got to the point where they had flag locked both our portal flags(this was on cataract) and there was really no way to stop them.
I also think we were ahead in levels by the end, but we faced erebus and oak, so whenever one person was in trouble oak would pop the 'SAVE ME FROM DYING' shield and they would get away. Also whenever one person was alone 1v1 going against me or my friend, the other person would teleport so all of a sudden it was 2v1. Very frustrating match.
u beat them by killing them and caping the flag after theres goes
As good as this sounds, it's too simplistic. They would literally flag lock and then run to another flag that we had captured.
then u stay by 1 flag and wait the 45 secs then cap it and wait for them to come and then kill them it isn't that hard
