Playing Sedna kinda has a drawback...you will basicall get no award whatsoever..there is no way you'll get damage..there is no way you'll get upgrades, because you can't kill creeps fast enough...I'm not trying to bash her, because she's quite good..but there needs to be a support award for healing/buffing teammates.
Ya, I love playing Sedna, but in the end, like I've written in other posts, there are no "Saved Butts" stats. I would not mind if I got some "assist" favor from healing a DG that was battling other DGs, then your alli killed the DG. It sure would make me feel better. I play WoW too; play a priest there also; and I thought this game would be different, but it's not: Keep the team alive the entire dungeon, and the most you get is a shoulder shrug. If ONE person dies, it's YOUR fault! At the end of the game, you look up to the gods to see thier Favor towards you, and it's "minimum wage". It's all about how many you klled, not how many you saved.
I had an Oak player shield me when I was reatreating last MP game; which game me JUST enough time to drink a potion (I was out of mana), but he got no assists either. But we have to watch favor balance too; spamming heals/shields on allies that are fully healed or have no de-buffs on them could lead to some pretty nasty favor exploits: "STOP healing me, there is not an enemy DG ANYWHERE near us!!!".
with sedna i usually get kills and deaths
You should get an award if you play as Sedna and your teammate says anything about 'heal' in the team chat and you don't quit.
i play sedna and kill people and heal teamates when i can
Actually, I played a 3v3 hours ago, and I got several "Thanks for the heals" Wow. Also got thanks for not putting my giant cat's litter box on the map this time (bad things have happened when they right-clicked on it thinking it was a shop, except for the UB, who liked it).
Anyone from Stardock commented on this yet?
Sedna definitely gets awards. She can certainly get assists, least deaths (due to healing), flags (due to her not having to go back to the crystal as often as other demigods and her fast movement speed), gold, citadel upgrades, and even kills, since she moves fast and can get that finishing blow in, not to mention the 1000 damage pounce which interrupts, and also snares at the highest level.
No, a healing award would be won by Sedna in every single game in which she's in, it's way too biased. Also, a support award would be way too hard to calculate, as there are too many factors.
Some might say TB will always get damage award, and sure he usually does, but it's certainly possible to outdamage him. A tower spamming rook definitely can, as can a regulus who uses AF and mines, or even an oak or qot who spam their aoe skill.
Ok, bursdude I understand that you clearly don't understand much from your post in my other thread, but that's OK. I'm here to slowly explain things.
I never said she could not get awards. I said she's more poorly suited to it. Which is a fact.
There should be a healing reward for a number of reasons:
1. Sednas who focus on healing should get a reward. If you focus much of your energy (both mana and cognitive energy) on healing, it will be at the expense of most of the other things you mentioned that she can do.
2. With the award, more players would play her, which is good because A. She is underutilized, and B. Having healers on your team is always good.
3. I don't care about support awards. If we really wanted, we could toss in damage healed or negated and count both the oak's invincibility and bramble sheild. Or would that be unfair to characters that don't have "sheild" abilities?
Some characters are inherantly better suited for some awards. This doesn't mean they shouldn't get them.
Bottom line: Support award: Player who heals/prevents the most damage to TEAMMATES. This is important. That way if you only heal yourself all game, you don't get shit.
That is the answer.
Just finished a 4v4 game; healed pretty good; kept many teammates alive while they pushed forward instead of having to retreat or die. (that bug seems to be gone for me) and maxed healing wind. Anyway, we won, and I got lowest scores, favor, and lowest assists
I'm forced to repeat two points again, because kerzain decided to read the most retarded post from the first page of the thread and clearly no others. First point: universal gadget
second point: damage negated by oak's shield/bramble sheild would also count.
Not every award is easily attainable. That's why there are support players and regular ones. And support players need a reward.
if they give items a short time it would make things alot easyier for sednas to win
No, I am thinking all the way through. You said unattainable, which is incorrect, since all have the ability to heal. Sure, it's not cost effective. But hey guess what? Why would you be trying to get a healing award when you aren't a healer? That's the reason Sednas don't usually get damage awards, and rooks get lots of assists. Because, and I'm going to use caps here SOME DEMIGODS ARE BETTER SUITED FOR SOME TASKS THAN OTHERS. TB is better at killing creeps than sedna, and people aren't whining about that.
I don't think alot of you are getting the point here. The healing/damage negated award will usually be won be whoever is playing sedna/QoT. This is OK. Because that is what they are supposed to be doing. Supporting their team. I'm not going to go out and play Sedna and then complain that the UB on my team got the most kills award and say that award should be taken away for being unfair. That's the point here.
People should be rewarded for playing a support character and helping their teammates.
These arguments you people are making are completely irrelavent.
There needs to be a healing/damage negated award to have a reward for playing support classes.
A durability rating would work, where you total up all the health you've recovered from healing items, crystal, natural healing. In the case of sedna, her heals would count for her rating regardless of who they used it on. Oak would get points for damage mitigated by shield, same with QoT. Any demigod can take a beating and recover HP, but some do it better than others. It's better than an unrealistic rating like healing, where only one class can really do it.
So, I've hear lots of irrelavavent whining, which doesn't surprise me. I'm going to sum up my suggestion.
Support Award:
At the end of the round the demigod who healed/negated the most damage dealt to allies recevies the support award and the corresponding favor bonus.
No one in their right mind should complain about this. I've broken down the attacks on it in the preceding pages. To sum up the attacks:
Sedna has an advantage! WHIIIIIIINEEEEE.....
Different Demigods are suited for different things. TB pumps out creep damage, Regulas snipes and lays mines, Sedna and QOT SUPPORT. It is obvious they are likley going to win this most of the time, as it is likely they will not win damage or kills, and the rook won't win flags. Duh, duh, duh. That's not a reason to not have it. If people think all awards that are not equally likely to be won by all demigods are unfair, then all the awards should be removed.
Agreed, line. The argument of "Well, Sedna can stay in the field longer than other DGs so she gets the XYZ award!" doesn't hold up.
I'm a heal spec Sedna with over 15 games under my belt (only half of which have registered ) and I'm consistently last on favor. Why? Because with my heals my ALLIES can stay in the field longer as well. This completely negates the "staying power" of Sedna.
As for gold or damage, again both fail because this spec of Sedna is about HEALING, not DPS and artifacting up. It's a very effective spec and wins games, but it sure as hell doesn't get me favor even though I've often saved someone's life 10 times in a row. It doesn't help that most people take it for granted and I rarely get a "thank you", let alone any kind of favor bonus.
Most games that end with my Sedna spec, I get about two awards, least deaths and if I'm lucky assists. That's it.
I arguably contribute more to my team than most Reggies, but I get the least favor points. Combined with the fact that my favor points bug out and don't register sometimes, Sedna from a favor perspective is a very frustrating DG.
And yes, you could play a pounce spec or somethin and maybe do better favor wise, but if I'm gonna play like that I'll go full bore and just be a UB, not a halfy healer / assassin.
You can gear/equip sedna up to rape face, unfortunately you will severely limit your support abilities for your teammates, if I play sedna, i want to be able to support my team, capping flags fast as fuck, tossing a heal at the odd Rook who's in a tricky situation and pouncing anything that tries to leg it.
If I wanted to rape damage, i'd go as Oak or Rook.
That being said. It would be nice to have a support/help favor thing, instead of me winning flags all the time
Since I didn't want to start a new thread I figured I would bring a relevant one back to life:
Support Awards!
When my buddies and I always play Demigod I play Sedna. The end score tends to turn out to be something like this:
Name Favor
Coldfuzion 165
Xelgrim 140
Abekith 140
hudsonave (me) 75
I can HOPE to get assists, I can HOPE to possibly get Citadel Upgrade, but that's about it. I have never, ever, ever beat anyone out on Favor Points in a match when I play Sedna. (Okay, I lied. Once when my friend was playing his FIRST game ever, and he couldn't manage to do anything but be a mana sponge)
I'm just sad that we haven't heard a single thing about this yet. Is there really no chance at getting some kind of favor balance? Granted, I love to be the reason my friends are able to lay waste to all in their path, and I'm kind of past the point of needing favor items, but I would like to not gain roughly half the favor points they do in a game when I'm arguably doing the same amount of work or more.
healing gives u exp so the not getting a award for it seems stupid but to make it so that u do get a award would require that there is alot more complicated in the code otherwise people would get awards for it without doing anything supporting
so al though is is needed for somepeople to feel good about there playing style it also isn't and would proberly take a while to even get the code to a reasonable lvl for it to be implamented
but i personally dont think it is needed why do u need a award to make u think your doing better you should already know if you are
Because I want my fair share of the friggen' Favor points
I have like 10000 favor points.. just sitting there. Is it really an issue?
Not for us that have been playing for a while, but for new players: yes.
More importantly, how will this effect rankings when Pantheon is fixed?
Will all the healers/shielders sit at the bottom of the list because they weren't rocking the kills?
Healing gives you experience, so not getting an award for it seems stupid, but to make it so that you do get an award would require alot more complicated code. Otherwise people would get awards for it, without doing any supporting.
Although it is needed for some people to feel good about their playing style, it would probably take awhile to even get the code to a reasonable level for it to be implemented.
Personally I don't think it is needed, why do you need an award to make you think your doing better? You should already know if you are.
So much easier on the eyes. I personally am for the healing award, they already have a damage award.
