This is how bad people take over governments. First make people insecure then offer them anything that almost sounds reasonable and you have a new government. It worked for Hitler and Soviet Russia. Well it worked for a while then things got worse.
First we were panicked over the housing crisis, then the banks began to fail, then the insurance companies began to fail, then the car companies began to fail now we have a Flu epidemic that is not an epidemic to keep us off our game. None of these were serious problems and all could be fixed with less money time and effort than we have given already. Who is pulling these strings causing panic? That person or group of people are our enemy!

whomever may be doing it now should be fired. no new cabinet-level departments of homeland bookcooking have been created. which is why we haven't seen any new colored charts indicating threat conditions, nobody has to take off their shoes to enter a bank or a car dealership.

The media has been pulling these strings for decades. They show no indisgression and no thought for how it will effect things. If things aren't sensational enough to sell papers they make them sensational enough. We had four people die today in Iraq! Oh, no! The world's going to end! Sounds a lot better than we had four people die today in Iraq and over five times that died in auto wrecks. Same thing with the economy. The economy goes up and down, that's the nature of it, but when you have the news on ten different channels saying how "horrible" it is that it's taken a drop that causes the not as educated investors to pull out which in turn causes more downturn. Rinse and repeat till you make a crisis. Honestly, if it wasn't for the bail outs that were given our economy would be back on it's feet already. As it is the educated investors are just sitting around waiting rather than picking the market back up because they don't know who's going to get the next bail out and who will just take a dive.
Yeah, now they are just labeling veterans as potential terrorists.

As a disabled vet I can understand how they came to that conclusion. These people are anti-military in their mindset. We are all blood thirsty indiscriminate killers with no sense of morality or care for human life. Using this mindset it is easy to make the leap of illogic to the point that these veterans would betray their country and kill fellow citizens they were charged with protecting. Remember in their mind they want to destroy the military and veterans would see that and want to fight against it.
I understand that the purpose of the report was to outline people with the potential to do harm to the US, but veterans? I mean come on. Might as well put in there that Muslims are all terrorists for good measure. Such a blanket comment when so very few veterans would even begin to fit their bill is ridiculous. Sure, there are veterans who fit their profile, but there are civilians who do, housewives who do, factory workers that do. Calling out veterans in there wasn't called for at all.
That is the reason they love it when they can get a former military member to join their ranks (like Powell for instance). It helps give them a sense of credibility with moderates and independents. I'll never forget or forgive, the political posturing that went on in congress in 2007. Polos and Reid (and a few others) threating to wit hold funding for the troops on the battlefield, so they could get some damn time-table. Thank god Republicans and some sensible Democrats didn't let it happen. So now what's to stop them when something similar happens? They are running two rings of the three ring circus.
Vets are a very serious threat to socialists, we have specialized training that propaganda can't fight. Part of my job was to go in before the main body of troops went in and secure things like airports, seaports, and small towns. I know how to shut down any airport in the nation in 45 minutes or less for under 20 dollars and not shoot or threaten a single soul. It is surprisingly easy. No, I will not say how!
People that hate the military are also fearful of what we could do to stop them if we ever decided the constitution was threatened. There are millions of us scattered around the country with the know how to destroy anything that gets in our way. that kind of power is not lost on the idiots that don't trust us. What they fail to understand is that with eight million former military running around the country they are safer and better protected than if we were not around.
I agree whole heartedly. Still not called for unless they decide to revoke all our freedom's tomorrow, but then I'd hope there's no one in power at the moment that is that stupid.

The only thing veterans threaten, is a coup. Coups don't work well if a lot of civvies are armed and trained and have demonstrated the will to fight for their country.

By the way you missed out terroism - the fear of terrorism, while not a serious problem (relative to other causes of death) has been used by numerous governments to push through draconian measures stifling individuals liberty. Afterall anyone who opposes such measures gets branded as wanting to assist terrorists, making it much easier to push them through.

Hmm, this already smells fishy (or should I say spammy).
Having one or even three banks fail is not a problem that can't be solved with the safeguards that are already in place. What caused the crisis was that the government promised to back them if the ordered bad mortgages failed. Then the Dems failed to keep that promise. Still the system can handle it if left alone. But with the idiots running things now it is spilling over to other sectors of the economy. This causes job losses and other issues that make things worse.
Not at all, it is just that the Dems are ignoring terror even if the rest of the nation is not.
Do I sound like an Obama supporter? If so, I think I really need to step up my game a little bit. Though he is the President, and we'll have to deal with him for the next four years, no I'm not a supporter. Why not? Because he doesn't make sense! You don't dump money on a failing economy where inflation is hitting the roof, that's economic stupidity. You don't bail out all sorts of companies that get hit when a financial crisis hits, you let the economy recover itself. A really big one, you can't expect the economy to always go up, there have to be down periods or you will end up in a depression.
What would I consider serious? How about the fact that dumping money on the economy has a MUCH larger chance to throw us into depression than having every bank in the country go out of business. The FDIC has safeguards against banks going out of business, however that doesn't mean jack shit if the dollar isn't worth anything.

Yep, like classifying veterans as terrorist threats, which is in another thread around here somewhere... Reminds me of the media frenzy when we were actually fighting the war on terror, too. "2 people died today in Iraq", saw that headline several times or something like it, would love for them to broadcast how many people died in automobile wrecks that day.

it goes quite a bit beyond simple hope. I criticied obama on JU and had somone respond with, among others, "obama shall lead us from the darkness into the light". This is a religion that worships him.
now you're gonna get paladin believing there's an obama religion as well as an evolution religion, not to mention the dozen or so religions he's instituted on behalf of people with whom he doesn't agree.

Religion is the belief in things unseen. If you have seen Mr. Obama then it is not a religion to believe in him or his beliefs. Have you seen evolution? I have not, my mind is open on the subject until I see evidence one way or the other. I do not believe in evolution because I have not seen any evidience to prove evolution. I have seen evidence that leans both ways but nothing conclusive. I do believe in God because that is my choice and my right until the current president outlaws it.
