Obviously they need to fix the garbage netcode they are using. But outside of that for those of us that jumped in early to play this game only to be met with frustrations and not being able to play the game against an all human player match should they offer some reparations for our suffering?
For example, 75% off of any software in their library? If there is ever a DG2 or DG expansion (that's a big if as this game may not last very long due to the poor reviews due to the bad net code) they could give us 50% off.
How about a custom favor item that only people who suffered by buying the game before they fixed it can use? Maybe a customized symbol on your DG during the game of a broken heart symbolizing our pain.
Any other ideas?
Fixing the favor bug would be nice.
After that maybe a couple free maps with the 2 demigods, but really i just want the favor bug fixed and some good online play and i'll be happy.
I'm just amazed at fanboys that won't speak out about things when companies/people screw up. Sure they need to fix it, that's a bare minimum to avoid a lawsuit. But what should they do to win over the people the pissed off with their crappy online code?
A game that is pretty much online only that can't be played online is a joke.
Contact sales and get your money back. Sheesh, if you read your manual, which you apparently didn't you would know that Stardock provides full refunds on its games if user has a problem getting it working -- even on copies bought at retail.
As for my personal involvement on the forums. I find it sad that someone would argue that a CEO participating on the forums means the company must not have any resources.
I participate on the forums because I consider it my responsibility to interact with our customers.
i think being able to return a game is a great policy..makes buiyng games less risky and might attract more customers..should be something you guys advertise
as for making up for the giant mess...id like to see alot more maps. 2 demigods is fine, but more maps would be great
a jungle map would be cool to
also..maps that 'effect' people..like maybe have weather effects or natural disaster type things..not totally random..but predictable
such as..path to this flag floods over every 2 minutes..stuff like that
By putting an end to your ability to post IMO.
Hate people like you (whoever said this; quoted a quote)....so naive and ignorant that Stardock/GPG are working to fix this. How many times have you been abanonded by a company (Paradox Interactive cough cough Genesis Rising cough cough)? You will not be abanonded and probably will get an expansion, but judging by your words, you won't buy it

I'm pretty sure a lawsuit would be the dirty and long way to resolve it. They've failed, almost entirely, to deliver promised multiplayer.
Fixing it is a must, yes, but at this point they've had thousands of people purchase a defective product. I don't even try to play multiplayer over the internet (LAN, 3v3 at work!).
75% off a second copy of the game would be worth it (as someone else suggested). Only after they actually fix their netcode of course. If they didn't account for the new players AND fix their code, it'd just be a giant joke to get more copies of the game hitting the servers.
It would actually be pretty short, since it'd get laughed out of court.
Describes quite well Stardock's stellar level of high-quality customer service & gamer fellowship.
karma
it's not like a defective tire, it's software, and they're fixing it. is your life irrevocably destroyed by waiting two weeks for the game to be patched enough times to be playable (after unforseen launch issues)? do you really have nothing else to do in the meantime?
They shouldnt reward you for things they did not forsee, they have said time and time again under loads of 2000 people it was fine, they did not forsee the issues with many many players on the servers. deal with it, they are working on a fix.You remind me of the people in the car business the customers that always want shit for free.Stuff it. and get a life.
Couple things here...one your own manual makes fun of people that read the manual. I did open it and looked for any relevant gameplay info...nadda. It came across like a cheap joke on the consumer...I read that as..."what you expect us (stardock) to spend more money making a real manual"? So I check for a real manual in pdf form...nadda. So ya not much time was spent in the user manual (if you can call it that)...I guess if there was some relevant game info in it I would have read it (like a skill tree and details on the items). After a few games of single player I'm ready to go online So I try to play the game online...I guess the joke was on me. I had no idea I was playing against dumb AI bots and only one human. Then I notice a pattern of the same names playing...oh hell those are stupid AI bots that I can play in single player. WTF! I thought this was an online game.
Also I did contact sales to get a refund...guess what it's going to take about 5 weeks to get the refund AND I need to pay for shipping. So I'm still out my money for quite sometime. Also I don't have my receipt anylonger...who keeps receipts for software since you can't return it to the store anyway. I have a couple requests into sales to find out if they will pay for shipping the product back to stardock, and if they can use a credit card statement as receipt.
But if you go back to the original post...the idea was what could stardock do to help make it up to the users that got hosed by this. Just looking for some cool ideas and I guess the best stardock has to offer is return the broken game and wait 5 weeks for a refund (if you still have your receipt).
Hell a simple little icon on your DG that shows you were here from the beginning would have been cool to me. But the stardock posse ran in here claiming your customer is a whiner and should just shut up. Remember I'm not the one that made teh game...I just bought it and tried to play it. But it is broken (and you admit it is)...if it works for some but not all (even though the recommended specs are exceeded and tried on multiple computers)...then the problem isn't with the consumer.
You may want to add to the gamers bill of rights...that gamers have the right not to be badgered when discussing issues with a buggy product that won't work.
+1! I follow the lead on the short yet oh so true comment
The tricky thing about rights is that they come with responsibilities.
As a corollary to your amendment to the GBOR, how about we add "complaints need to be posted in a non-petulant manner that facilitates discussion rather than flame-baiting"?
How is asking what you think Stardock should do to make up for their error flamebaiting? This is only a one way flame war...with the stardock fanboy posse leading the charge. I'm trying to help if only people would take off their fanboy goggles and understand that they screwed up very badly with this release. Now let's accept that and make this a constructive discussion about what they can do to turn this into a positive for gamers that were caught up in not being able to play the game they bought online. Is that really asking for too much? If the best answer is to tell the gamer not to play it and get a refund...ok that's an answer, but it's a very sad one at that. Good luck trying to grow the fanbase with that attitude.
So if they take 5 months to fix this...will you still be cool with Stardock? At some point even the most die hard stardock fanboy will say enough already and want more than just a promise to fix it. My cut off is a bit quicker than the typical stardock fan posting in this forum...I'm new to stardock so they haven't built up much cred with me (and in fact are quickly going to the bottom). So the point is what can they do to make up for that as I'm sure I'm not the only consumer feeling the same thing...fact is most won't even bother posting on this forum letting them know they screwed up and they need to make it right. Instead they are just walking away from them vowing never to buy their games again.
EDIT: just went back and checked and you're the guy that tried to make this into a flamewar...saying that since I expect a game to work (per the GBOR) I must be a modernday entitlement baby. Before that the posts were on topic with some good ideas on what people would have liked to see. Yeah that was real classy of you.
Some sort of symbol for players that have gone through this would be cool as a sort of gag gift.
Also, I would considering doing this if the game weren't so damn addictive.
The only thing I want is this: Make sure that this game does not fail. It is such a great game, I hope people keep playing it. I don't want my money back.
Just fix the game faster is enough for me.
ty for making my day, u should have a "best reply of the day" reward
You forgot the two new free demigods.
As you should, and everyone will thank you for it.
Faster? You obviously have no idea what goes on in game developing/producing companies...
30% off pre-order for Elemental.
Truth. Also quotin' dis.
Add patching in there too but that's a given with SD.
Hahahaha! Win.
As a die-hard Stardock fanboy . . I din't become one because I was brainwashed . . I became one because of their great products and great support.
At some point, it's OK to have a vested interest in something that you believe in and want to defend it. At another point, if they burn through the karma they accrued with me (not likely at this point since I am one of 'them') I would cease being a fanboy and be neutral. If the failure to produce continued I would stop purchasig thier products. If they then came to my house and kicked my dog I would be upset.
Fanboys are earned by a compnay and Stardock has earned more than a few.
