..at least do the right thing now and purchase it. If only to support a smaller developer who has done everything possible(and continues to do so) to inform and support their growing community. I swear it's refreshing to see the head of a company actually make almost daily highly informative, highly honest posts and keep us completely in the loop. Without that I can almost guarantee most of us would have felt it another case of ok, they shipped their not ready product out the door, have our money now and don't care. Because of this communication i feel like my purchase was not only appreciated, but that it's gone to support a developer who actually cares about their customers.
I just think if you pirated it, haven't bought it and are reading these forums - you obviously enjoy the game. Put your money where your mouth is and support these guys.
There are certain companies who I am certain knowingly release unfinished crap, understanding it will sell anyway and they can fix it later. Beyond the network issues, Demigod is a great game and one i hope has a really bright future. The quality of product and moreso the quality of post-release support really in turn deserves your support also so this game grows. Then we're all happy.

Hey look, an armchair lawyer. First, only the United States of America recognizes the DMCA. Now I know the common perception in America is that the rest of the world does everything that the US of A does, but it doesn't. Each country has it's own laws on copyright protection.
Second, I hope you failed whatever class you did this speech in. There are 6 enumerated exceptions to copyright infringement under the DMCA (hint - look under the section called "Exceptions"). Where you are getting this "any way shape or form" language is beyond me.

I bet there would be heaps of aussies that have pirated the game at least %90. Because the game hasn't been released here yet. 21st of may is our release date. I preordered 1 week before the digital release. But I haven't had a chance to play my legit digital version yet because I had problems getting the legit version from my work computer to my gaming machine. So come tuesday I will be able to play the updated retail version after i get home from work.

Honest ? I bought the game thinking there was some roleplaying part in it while in fact there is none. The game is fine but in the end its just a run for who get the biggest artefact first. No campaign, no tutorial, I say I got ripped off. Next time I'll download my games for free first then I'll see if its worth my money.
That's why you read reviews before buying games...I can't say "duh" loud enough for you to hear me, but I'll try anyway.
Then tough luck you miss out, otherwise get a job, or another job if you've already got one. Maybe if those options aren't avilable to you then you should consider getting some education to enable you to do so. If you can't afford something then you are not entitled to use it.
This is peoples' hard work and livelihood, if you want to take advantage of it then pay them for it. I somehow doubt that you would go to work on the condition that your boss would only pay you if he was satisfied (or enjoyed) the products of your labour.
If you want to enjoy a game and can't afford to pay for it, then guess what... (see above for the answer), show a little bit of moral character and miss out, or save up and then enjoy it.
I consider the argument about people pirating a game to see if it is any good and then purchasing it to be complete fucking bullshit. While I am sure that there are a few people who do this, they would be a miniscule fraction of the pirating masses (and note that even in doing this doesn't make it right).
Play a demo, read a review, talk to friends... and if those options don't exist or you don't know whether or not you should buy the game... take a risk or don't play it. You may end up not liking the game, but so what, don't buy from the developer in future or sell the game. Your supposed poverty doesn't entitle you to an illegal copy of the game to 'test' it. Nothing entitles you to enjoy the fruits of another's labour for free (unless of course they allow you to do so... I am not aware of any game developers who do so).
I personally consider the fact that all pirates that I have met justify their piracy shows that inside they consider they have something to justify!

Whine about it all you want, but I'll still pirate stuff that I'm unsure of. Demo's can be very misleading, reading a review tells me next to nothing, and just because my friend might like it we don't always have the same taste. Right before hopping into a dota tourny with some friends, one of them mentioned DG, said it was like dota. Thats great, but there's no demo, I can read as many reviews as I want all I know is that its a strategy RPG (or w/e they're calling it) that sort of plays like dota, and gameplay trailers don't include me playing that game so I'm seeing nothing thats of use to me. So the next day I pirated it, played some rounds on the single, and then bought it the day after (payday). 'Get some moral character'. Lol? Right, like that matters much these days on the great interwebs. I don't think it's 'ok because its for personal use only', those people are just ignorant. However I could honestly care less what the views are on piracy, because it's there and I will continue to download shit.
The last title I bought without pirating first was Hellgate London, and as you may or may not know, you CAN'T return that pile of crap game because it's classified as an 'MMO'. Which is kinda bullshit. So cool, now I have an oversized paperweight because they went out of business and their servers are no longer there. It's now just a boring ass single player game. So maybe you enjoy just throwing away money on crappy products, but I prefer not to so you can continue to waste money, I'll stick to my illegal ways and only buy the games that I actually like (about 1 every 3-4 months on avg), supporting the companies that are actually worth it.
Heheh, I paid like $210 for the Collector's Edition and Founder's Offer for Hellgate London, that game has so much potential that it sadly failed to realize. In other news, I knew that Demigod would either be an excellent game or a really disappointing one, and couldn't tell which at all from the videos, which surprisingly make the game look a lot more boring and confusing than it is. I'm sure they were made during the 10 minutes the devs had free at the time, but I still get a kick out of hearing the guy say "And these reinforcements are called.... reinforcements!". I'll be honest: I knew that I would only get my money's worth out of this game if I could have a good experience playing it with a bunch of friends, and it just so turned out that after one of us bought it the others all did too, now we have a great time playing together (when, you know, it works ). I'm glad I made the decision to buy Demigod, and have a great deal of respect for Stardock for the amazing amount of work they've put into troubleshooting the issues that reared their ugly heads upon release. Well done!
i have to admit the no campaign was a bit off a downer espically when i first got the game but playing it for a while i dont mind not having one would be a nice add on later on
and the no tut isn't really anything to worry about after about 4 hours playing i got the hang of one dude and tried like 4 others i never use tut if i dont have to
Maybe if they ever release an expansion it could come with a mini rpg campaign with the original 8 or something, that would be neat. I think a lot of people were disappointed with the lack of single player (not totally realizing how much of a MP game it was, or not knowing at all).

Pirating is not the reason a game fails or succeeds, it is meerly an extension of using your vhs recorder to copy a show u liked so that when u got home from work you could watch it then.

I got the game from a friend of mine, so I could try it out. I'm full aware of it that it is a pirated version and I don't/can't play on-line with it. Anyway, the game release here is 15 May, which just sucks.
Now I got a question. I could wait of course for 15 May, but I do not want to.
So can I pay and download it here and just play it on-line before May 15? Also, here it costs 39$ dollar (about 30 euros) while it would cost 40 or 50 euros here.
Are there other europeans who bought this game on-line already? I happily give stardock 40$ in exchange for the game.
Many Europeans have bought the game direct. There is no difference between the Impulse downloaded version and waht you'd install and update off a local retail disc.

You worried that you might not get your money's worth? Then DON'T BUY IT. Wait and see. Or use the money on something useful, like paying a bill or fixing your car, or buying a board game you can play with your family.
