..at least do the right thing now and purchase it. If only to support a smaller developer who has done everything possible(and continues to do so) to inform and support their growing community. I swear it's refreshing to see the head of a company actually make almost daily highly informative, highly honest posts and keep us completely in the loop. Without that I can almost guarantee most of us would have felt it another case of ok, they shipped their not ready product out the door, have our money now and don't care. Because of this communication i feel like my purchase was not only appreciated, but that it's gone to support a developer who actually cares about their customers.
I just think if you pirated it, haven't bought it and are reading these forums - you obviously enjoy the game. Put your money where your mouth is and support these guys.
There are certain companies who I am certain knowingly release unfinished crap, understanding it will sell anyway and they can fix it later. Beyond the network issues, Demigod is a great game and one i hope has a really bright future. The quality of product and moreso the quality of post-release support really in turn deserves your support also so this game grows. Then we're all happy.
Then you need to change your tactic. Include the time you need to work on the demo in the release date.
This.
Nope...don't purchase it yet. Wait until they fix it so you can play online. Once it's fixed (and if you aren't bored with it by then) then buy it.
dude there is only like 3 or 2 probs left cut them some slack it has been release to the us europe gets it in about 14 days i beilieve and they already factered in the time it will take for them to fix it
u dont neeed voice chat in a online game there are things called ventrillo and skype and teamspeak
and the online anit completely rubbish i hardly get any probs
If only that were true.
How can I put this in the nicest way possible? Screw you. I have no money. I buy what I can afford. I wish it were different but it's not.
Yarr! This be here a scurvy seadog!
I crossed me silver from me far-hauled booty (from prudent saving of what meagre stipend I'm afforded) cross the palm of tha' there Lord of Pirates, Frogboy. He be the Cerberus at the gates o' Hell. I'll not wrong a smash-brained loon such as 'im, for tha' doom he'd bring'd be dire.
Set sail ye scurvy dogs! Piracy off in tha' depths o' seas. Let us lay wreck to tha' soulless fleet o' tha' EA!
"How can I put this in the nicest way possible? Screw you. I have no money. I buy what I can afford. I wish it were different but it's not."
This is part of the reason why you have no money
Your sorry attitudes and disregarding of people's hard work (lack of appreciation of hard work) is probably why you are a lazy poor person.
Enjoy your gaming welfare...because that's what torrents basically are these days.
Interesting that you predicate 'Chaviness' to me before knowing anything about me. Quite a presumptuous self-indulger aren't we? You clearly have very little empathy and simply cannot honestly place yourself in others' shoes as you cannot disregard your own personal beliefs.
I do not wish to converse further with you as I cannot see that there is anything to be gained by doing so.
Sorry if I don't empathize with poor people that steal games. At any rate, I know you steal games, I don't have to know you personally to see you don't respect other people's hard work.
I said that I'd not comment further but this is deliciously ignorant.
So basically you've presupposed that you're correct on the matter of piracy and therefore you will not attempt to see the argument from any view but your own? This is laughable. If everyone in society followed this maxim then there would be continuous conflict as everyone would simply fight for their own camp without attempting to understand any ideology but their own.
You attempt to laud your begged perspective by assuming moral superiority, but since you clearly do not understand/have given little (if any) thought to systems of ethics this is somewhat circular. You assume you are right because you will not evaluate other systems of ethics, why will you not evaluate other systems of ethics? Because you are right!
Try to be more logical.
You didn't say a single thing that contradicted what I said, just a half attempt at intellectual masturbation that really didn't say anything lol.
Anyways, can I come over and have some of your things since stealing is perfectly ok with you. Can I copy your homework too? Maybe if you ever come up with a great idea I'll take that too...you know...since that kind of thing is perfectly moral.
I pirated my way into the beta, then I was stupid enough to buy it. And here I was, expecting them to fix what was wrong with the game instead of making it worse!Silly me.
Actually I've completely contradicted you. You've simply not understood that you've been contradicted. When I showed that your way of thinking would, in fact, lead to a worse society than mine (the 'than mine' was implicit) I contradicted you.
When I showed the circularity of your argument I contradicted you. Here's an article on circularity which will hopefully help you see why you were contradicted.
Your final point that "if I am entitled to pirate games to evaluate them you are entitled to steal anything from me" just doesn't make sense. Personal acts of theft =\= piracy to "try before you buy". The correct analogy would be "you steal my ideas from me and then pay me whatever I demand for them if they're good". Since I'm the highest scorer in my classes you'd be paying me whatever I demanded for my ideas.
Try to think your statements through logically at least once before posting.
You didn't show any of that...it's quite hilarious. And actually, quite the contrary if all people were like YOU, the industry would die. And I wouldn't pay you anything...I'm living off your morals now! I'll just steal them and say your idea was "crappy anyways" lol.
If everyone stole games, no game industry. If everyone bought thier games like me, thriving game industry.
That's fact.

So I read an article about this game the other day...never heard of this game before. It mentioned that it was an RTS-RPG...and as thoughs are two of my favorite types of games, I was like...hmmm, I will have to try that out.
Know what I did?....I admit....I pirated it. Played single player for like 3 to 4 hours...doing the tournement on Wednesday night...and I was hooked. I had no idea that this game was like DoTA only (IMO) better!
So yesterday, when I got paid...uninstalled the pirated version and bought it. I love Stardock and enjoyed playing the GalCivs series with friends in college.
So while I did pirate it....I ended up buying it...and I am really looking forward to going online and "pwning you all in the face!"
Why are we talking about piracy? Seriously? Who cares. Who. Frackin. Cares.
Pirates don't get a vote, and you don't matter, except as bandwidth-parasites. Why do people keep starting threads about it?
I wish the forum mods would start auto-locking piracy threads as soon as they're formed.
Renevent, we don't live in a black and white world. You can't possibly stay put on that high horse, unless you act like a very young Siddhartha.
For example, if you own a cellphone, know that some of the materials in it were brought from countries where people methodically rape women and commit genocide in order to, amongst other things, gain control over the raw materials.
If you ever have thrown away a plastic bottle, know that there are floating continents of the stuff in the oceans, poisoning the fish and killing bird life.
Yet, you seem to focus a lot of energy lamenting that the world will seemingly be corrupted and thrown into oblivion by a number of people who prevent corporations which manufacture illusionary fantasies for the distraction and entertainment of the working masses to make even more money.
Think about it for a moment or two. The world faces much more serious threats than the withholding of a few dollars for the entertainment industry. If we wouldn't be lulled into a dream like state by that same industry, perhaps a few more people would wake up to the real realities of the world.
Rationalizations for being a thief. Stealing this game will not cure world hunger or stop mass rape and genocide, nor will it "wake up" anyone.
Piracy is a symptom of the same problem which is also the source of those problems you listed, including rape and genocide: A lack of virtue, a lack or respect for the work, worth, or lives of others. You are only concerned with pleasing yourself, and have no qualms about hurting others, whether thier body or thier wallets, to do so.
I'm sure plenty of pirates get a little power-trip thrill when they steal a game, feeling that they've somehow beaten the unfair system which has denied them the entertainment that they think they're entitled to, which they think they shoudln't have to pay for.
What about the guy that cracked the game, should he get paid for his hard work?
i really can't see why pirates can't see what's wrong about it, really... it's so obvious
no Vinzed because pirating is not a job, so therefore no.
its the same with people who break in to peoples house and resell the items found in there, no they should't
it all comes down to this Piracy is illegal and there aren't ONE company in the whole world that have ever come out public and said OMG people have pirated our game in large scales, but it's all good. its better this way.....
Ehm,... the laws I obey don't state that downloading copywrited material for my own use is illegal. So...
the copy right act of 1998 clearly states that using copyrighted material in any way shape or form is illegal
i had to do a huge speech on the copyright act so dont try and use it for cover
Which can equally be said for developers (the power trip) that release steaming piles of poo as videogames that end up being bought by hapless consumers.
