#1. Invest some money on citadel upgrades. You dont have to spend all your money on citadel upgrades just spend some.
#2. Its a team game. Try to work as a team. i,e. communicate, call for help if you see an ally attacking another demi assist them. Dont run in the opposite dir.
#3. The goal of the game is not to smite the most demigods. Yes you get gold boosts but thats not the point of the game.
#4. If you dont know how to play the game. PLEASE dont join a game and ask your teammates how to play after it has started.
#5. (T) unlocks the camera
#6. If two demis are chasing you run. If your HP is low dont run into towers (I do this a lot) run.
Anyone else want to add to this list. Plz do so. Ive been very polite in my games when I am stuck with newer / less skilled players offering hints and tips but one can only be polite for so long. If someone gives you a tip please dont... ragequit, Use homophobic/racial remarks to that person. I personally am starting to think the DOTA community is invading this game.
Learn 2 run is the best adivce u can give 2 a noob
Then they survived because you failed to do enough damage. How much hp they have is irrelevant and if you think about it a bit it´s a better attitude to have then blaming luck. You can´t improve "luck", you can´t change it. it´s there and nothing you ever gonna do is gonna make it disappear. Random things, like the damage range is something you need to take into calculation or learn to.
example: This guy has 160hp left. You deal 100-170dmg. You have 200hp left and their tower deal 180-230dmg. You might wanna call luck on failing to kill him but I´d call it stupid to even try. (The numbers are fictional)
dude i kill the target i almost got killed by his team mates u iddiot
oh great, a debate about determinism in a "tips for new players" thread, that's just what we need. Can you guys take it to PM or something?
Luck may or may not play a large factor in games, but as a new player it's probably more useful to pretend that there is no luck and look for things you can do that tend to result in winning more.
trav there is a shit load already above
Another tip: Play the game, not your demigod. Most games i played i won with lvl diffrence of 5 ( Last game i was 8 he 15 ) But I won.
0 wins, 1 loss and consistantly get the lowest favor on your team in custom games. Learn more, play more, spam less.
My addition to the list would be don't forget the potions/scrolls dropped by a dying demigod, in a messy 3v3 brawl a 750-3k instant heal can make a massive difference but often people leave them lying around while they keep fighting.
Oh and if Erebus' pots are poisoned once, they're gonna be poisoned for the rest of the game, don't keep trying them again and again.
This.
Learning when to run away is probably the single most important thing in DemiGod.
