You can tell me that its too early to talk balance, that "the only OP demigod is always the one that kills you", there is no such thing as OP but that's BS.
Erebus is OP, and you can tell me I'm wrong but I guarantee you are going to see him get a nerf sooner or later.
Im afraid I have to agree with the OP.
I usually play UB, and have played probably about 50 matches and usually score best for our side. I consider myself a pretty good player. Yet against someone who plays erebus well, I have no chance against someone 3 levels below me with less gold (ie loss items).
You can argue I dont know how to play well, but I dont buy that. You can argue its not about 1 vs 1, but 80% of the time it is. Maybe theres some trick I should be using but Im damned if I know what it is.
Pretty sad when you get steamrolled in a 2v2 citadel, only to see the score sheet, and see that both of your side was a couple of levels higher with a bit more gold. Fortunately we were able to kill his teammate a decent amount.
The trick is you are a terrible player and agree that the game should be bent in your favor to compensate for your ineptitude.
err.... the trick is called hit and run.
spit on him, get away. then respit and melee him.
you can also buy several usable items that inflict direct damage. use scrolls to remove debuffs you get.
Do not engage when he is running around with an entourage of like 10 nightwalkers....
UB using hit and run tactics!?
GET YOUR LOGIC OUTTA HERE
Mommy, the kids at school are bullying me again! *sniff*
never played as erebus so
He is not over powered in fact last night I played aginst Oak and he killed me Nerf Oak ,also QoT killed me Nerf her to, thats all...oh wait TB,UB,Rook,Sedina, and Reg killed me to so nerf them...Bleh!
No need to get hasty, just nerf everyone that's not you.
lol
nooo im going to be nerfed ahhh
the reason they killed u is proberly because u dont know how to use him but he defiently anit op late games he seems to die more
Lol, I fail with the creep build, dont know if the 10 minions help, but even with the 4skills build I dont try 1vs1 with a UB. Now If I can catch one escaping the battle with only 1/4 health
You can argue I dont know how to play well, but I dont buy that. You can argue its not about 1 vs 1, but 80% of the time it is.
It's never 1vs1... If you never support each others in your team, you will fail. If you only play alone and try 1vs1 you will fail. All dg have some support skills that can help all the groups (heal, shield, mines, towers, stun...). Use them well and you will win. Team up for avoid ganging and level up. Always spend some money at the citadelle. If you are the first to get uber creeps you have a good chance to win. And you can't do it alone.
Play often 3vs3 and some times 4vs4 or 2vs2 and you cannot win by solo without teamplay. When I see my teammate in difficult I try to join them for help, or catch the escaping ennemy dg for finish him.
I usually play UB, and have played probably about 50 matches and usually score best for our side. I consider myself a pretty good player.
Score don't mean you are a good player. It's teamplay that make a good player. If you just focus killing others dg lot of chance you will loose: Improve creeps and citadelle/destroy towers/capture some strategic flags are importants and can lead to victory, even if your team have less kills/gold/levels.
Good support players like sedna/queen and defense rook don't score lot of kills but can make your team win. What you say it's like playing Teamfortress 2 game and focus only on your frags. The only thing that mater is your team winning. Avoid a scuicide kill will help better your team (but will cost you one of your precious kill).
Even if you can't kill the enemy but make them run will alloy you to control the map and level/gold farm. In fact, at the begining of a game, when you die it's only because you took some risky actions, not because a dg is op or not. Doing 1vs1 at first minutes is a risky action, specialy depending of dg (since they aren't equal in 1vs1). Trying to finish a dg at the cost of a scuicide attack is a risky action that can be avoid too.
I think that lot of people really need to forget the score/kills and focus more about fight as a team for gain the victory. Demigod isn't a deathmatch game!
I agree 100%. I've lost a few matches because some of my team8s were obsessed by FPS-style streetfigting against enemy DGs.
I was even insulted once, on the team chat, by an ally who taunted me because I had not killed one single DG in the very first minutes of the game. (It was not a slaughter match, and I was an Ice TB.) His "strategy" for killing enemy DGs was taking too many tactical risks : for each 1 kill he got, as a Regulus, he was himself killed 3 times!)
Self-centered streetfigting tactics do not represent the long-range strategy required to achieve victory objectives as a team.
The crucial problem, at the moment, unless you're playing with friends, is having the random luck of winding up in a competent team. It's almost impossible to detect mature, cooperative team8s in the game-setup lobby.
Was playing Pantheon earlier and it was a 2v2. I was Sedna with Rook teammate against TWO Ereubus. Like at level 10, I could finally manage to bite enough off their HP to do damage, often enough Rook would slam down at the same time. THey would turn to mist and a few seconds later bat swarm out. Before and after that it was pretty retarded, all it was was constant biting. Even with my 25% or so extra run speed on Sedna I would still be hit by one of them while running away.
And so how the game finished? Who win? Wich map? Sedna + rook I think you should have dominated early in the game but need extra infos. Build of the rook and your sedna?
They won of course, it was Levi. I dont know, he was decently equiped I think. I was mainly HP+ and heals with pounce. Later pounces took 1/3 of their life easily later in game. Probably could have stuck closer than we were, but still, their bites and speed + hp regen left us defeated every time early game.
...For a minute I thought you were my opponent, but you played the rook/sedna.
My team just got out of an ESL match 2v2 against double erebus. Same exact setup as you. We won, tripling their damage, quadrupling total kills. They were good, and played my rook perfectly, but I supported the sedna to get all of the kills. I think its a fact of incompetence over demigod choice.
I hope the devs don't take too much notice of these types of threads.... DG's don't even start off with the same health, mana and armor, so you can't compare abilities directly.
I don't find Erebus overpowered but I do find him 'useful' and able to assist the team out well.
Yeah, it's ridiculous. I don't think balance can even be judged for a long time. Not until a competitive scene develops where actual good players fight eachother in an organized manner. The majority of these people crying for balance changes are most likely pub heroes who got spanked, and are ignorant of their own class.
I still find that bite is just a bad design in gameplay. Taking health and giving it to erebus seems reaonsable since he is a vampire. OK fine but he also reduces the victims movement speed A TON and reduces the armor. He can pretty much negate another demigod by just using bite to stun to bats to bite which pretty much kills any demigod.
Wahh...I get spanked by erebus...
;_;
Wow, do you believe in the fact that if you stop breathing, you will pass out? What's your position on gravity (true/false)?
I am a little surprised about the speed reduction TBH, it would still be a good ability without that.
Considering he does have bat swarm, it's not like he has much trouble chasing people down.
It's pub star.. god get it right.
You play dota? I'm sorry for stepping on your toes.
They mean the same thing.
heres a hint:
kill the healers for the generals FIRST. they heal like 600+ a pop, and with 2 priests its 1200 hp recoverd regulary for the general. Erebus is squishy no matter the eqipment and he can't take the damage of 2 other demigods at the same time without his priests. He can mist or bat away but performing hit and run like that will eat his mana faster than he can recover. i he went for mana reg items, he will be even squishier.
key is to look at all items in the store. theres one to remove debuffs, one to buff your health by 50% temporaily...
