well you can read, what we wrote.
Basically, Zock and me have the opinion, that GPGnet is working better than Impulse/Demigod-System. This was all we had said in this chat.
Then Frogboy, who I would have thought to be a qualified employee of Stardock, just insulted us, and few seconds later, we both were banned from chat and still are.
Is this how you cannot even say your opinion in a chat? this is really.. rather ridiculous to me. I really am thinking about, if I still want to buy and support this game, after my demo key runs out.
Arguments of GPGnet being better in current state than impulse are plenty. I can list them, if you want.
Still.. i think banning us for saying something criticising... is a way too much.
Thank you for your time.
It's not.
And I would salute him and say "Yes Sir!" Just because someone is really high up, doesn't mean they can't let people know how wrong they are. And as has been said, he wasn't the one doing the banning. The people concerned obviously haven't been reading or watching the devblogs that he's been posting with updates on the situation and what they are doing to fix it. Sure, people think that a game should be working at least 90% on release day if 100% isn't possible, but everyone knows that the first few weeks of ANY game are shaky but we're just patient, we give the devs time to fix stuff. We don't go piss crazy and start insulting the company, especially not if the CEO of said company is present at the time.
I think Frogboy was not out of line. Sure, we shouldn't kiss anyones butt, however, honestly, if you are that asenine to insult the CEO (or whatever high rank he is), then you truly are an idiot. It takes a crap load to make games, and quite frankly, if I was apart of DemiGod's creation, I would find where you lived and make your connection, like, the worst or something really inconvienient lol.
And VoW, from the log, you don't know jack. Thats why he called you an idiot; and rightly so.
haha .. i was in the chat at that time and i knew someone was gonna make a screenshot and post it here ... was hillarious.
Hardly, I'd feel more alienated with some PR trash than Brad Wardel CEO of Stardock being *gasp* human. The idea that it's better to try and paint a big, fake, happy, PR picture is awful.
Sometimes I can bearly restrain from going alittle too far with people who wind me up. Expecting someone to be a saint for you is just unreasonable.
[Edit] Quoted where the thread was when I started replying, this thing moves fast
While I agree with you if you remember... Steam also sucked big time when it first game out. It took years for Steam to get good and while Steam has come a long way, it's far from perfect.
Your actually pretty lucky dude. I have been around the GC2 forums for about three years and have seen him totally ban at least three people. At least one had their serials totally disabled and money refunded. Continuing to push it with posts like these isn't going to help.
??? Impulse is perfectly fine. In a way, I like it better then Steam. Steam is slow at delivering patches. Also, patches are manditory, you can't choose to patch at a later time, and can cause complications when you are in the middle of a CAL season and you have to re-schedule your match because it happened to be patch day and you have to wait for the server to update and blah blah blah. Not to mention, half the time, offline games, as least, for me doesn't work and I have to be on-line to play.
I primarily use Impulse, Steam, and Gamers Gate, in that order for purchasing. I will buy Paragon products, directly through GamersGate. At least with GamersGate, you get the download, install the game, and then no validation checks that take a lifetime, i.e. Steam. I can play offline on Impulse as well without and problems.
Any rate, I like all three, but still, saying Impulse is completely crap is a complete fabrication.
As far as PR, they should hire Ivan with Cryptic and formerly of Flagship, he would make a great PR person for Stardock. /sarcasm
What kind of advice is that. Be careful or this company will refuse to sell you their niche products? Please grow up. Saying impulse is anything but a clunky system is stupidity or ignorance. Take your pick.
Owned by Frogboy. I'm sure I probably upset him for blasting the use of P2P over a normal RTS as probably right about now he'd be a lot happier of a person w/ a lot less stress. But you guys seem to have stabilized the P2P mechanism pretty well, but its still not perfect. (can it ever become perfect or near perfect or just working a good majority of the time?)
I guess now that I can actually connect and get 4v4 / 5 v 5 games running quicker than a week ago I'm more interested in seeing the balance changes in place since I can actually play a lot more frequently and see where the current imbalances exist. No sleep for you guys
You know, you'd have *some* credibility if you expanded your thoughts and listed the reasons why you think Impulse is crap/inferior to Steam. As it is, you come across like an average forum troll which makes you unqualified to judge be it Demigod, Impulse or proper professional behavior.
This said, while it is understandable that Frogboy is frustrated, the incident does not seem to warrant such a reaction. The people do seem to be ignorant of Demigod's online infrastracture but why waste his time on them?
Was that the real Frogboy, by the way? It's not like it's hard to impersonate somebody on IRC, no matter the channel.
Ya it makes me unqualified to say a representative of a company calling his customers idiots and banning them is unprofesional. Durf durf!
I'll take Frogboy's attitude over a broken-record-PR person any day of the week.
PR is stupid. If you're going to go around insulting people, you better grow some thick skin yourself and expect stuff like this, instead of a canned PR apology or whatever.
Also, don't screw with the people that make your food, and be nice to the people making your video games
It was. All the nicks are registered, and force change names if the password isn't given within 60 seconds on login.. soo..
Niche Products? I see to recall some mainstream games available on Impulse. Clunky System? Ah no. Steam's overlay not working half the time within games. Games that work fine outside of Steam, buggy as hell in Steam. Anything else?
Don't mind VoW-Kryo, he is german
GPGnet is a complete mess. It's bulky, instable, hideous and buggy. Using it for Demigod would be not a wise idea. Further developing it would be impractical too. It gets the job done for SupCom etc., but no one should want the current state of GPGnet or future development based on it for any future game.
This is a joke, right? Steam is absolute crap compared to impulse, not only is it a pain to connect to (I have to delete clientregistry.blob about 4-5 times each time I download something), but you have to be on the internet TO PLAY SINGLE PLAYER.
Also, for a copmany the size of Stardock, PR is almost entirely unnecessary. How many vocal members of the community do you see taking offense to this? Hardly any. Most of us are fed up with PR bs, that this is a refreshing change of pace.
Could it be:
in response to Frogboy saying:
Looking at that statement, I agree with Frogboy that you are an idiot. Plus, considering how much importance Frogboy puts on treating customers well, I am quite sure he took your saying they used a bad system on purpose as a personal attack.
Maybe he shouldn't have called you an idiot above that, but I would have to see the rest of the chat log to make that decision.
Would you want some random asshole telling you how to run your company? I think not.
Valve's games sell millions of copies. Corporations allow themselves to be taxed by Valve for the priveldge to use Steam as its method of distribution and host. Impulse attempts to directly mimick steams layout and functionality. Nope thats about it thanks for playing!
We have a winner!
spooky, i never said we should use gpgnet. And I also admit that GPGnet is instable. and buggy. Still, it is better to set up games. And GPGnet has so many functionalities, that Demigod would only profit of. And well, this thread isnt about GPGnet vs Impulse either, cos there are pros and cons for both of them. This thread is about a CEO banning players who just say their opinion, which is even total valid.
and well I see this forum is full of fanboys (except for maybe 5-8 posters in here).
VoW-Kryo,
this is for you
Sure it looks like you found Mr Frog at a bad moment, but what did you expect to happen? Looked liked more of a rant than a criticism, and it was on their own chat server...
From the sounds of it Brad can handle criticism fine, what he doesn't like is people ranting about something when they don't really understand the details of what they are complaining about.
