They are supposed to be support characters, susceptible to assassins. Nerf generals hard, and to compensate give their minions a significant boost.

what is it with most people, if they get beat by a class it's automatically OP? couldnt it just be you played a bad game? or dare i say it...the other person plays better than you?
I can say that I can kill generals with Regulus with ease, the Rook not so much at the beginning as towards the end when he's got more towers and upgrades. I haven't played much with the Dark to tell whether or not I could win with Tourchbearer or Unclean, however I do know that generals have more of a pain to deal with when facing Assassins because they've got to A} Rely on minions, B} Spend most their gold on minions so their gear is weaker, C} run away from 3of5 fights because they get killed easily.
Mostly they're support units that get to be useful towards the middle and end of the match solo, they're only powerful at the beginning if your team feeds them (I've seen some really slap-headed moves when people will chase an enemy into their tower array and die by their defenses). The best use of them is to support the Assassins on their team with the base mechanics until later game. For example, Sedna can follow a Rook and heal him while he takes out towers and/or enemy units; Oak can shield a teammate as they stand toe-to-toe against an enemy Demi.
This is after all a strategy game that requires learning the inns and outs of fighting every enemy enough to know how to counter them and how to stay alive longer

Because generals are the bottom 3 and assassins are the top three generals need nerfed. Smooth.
The stats right now aren't that reliable, seeing how many people still get dropped and replaced by the AI, which cannot abuse the Generals as much (I would think). Still though, I think balance is still pretty good. Erebus can sometimes be an Assassin with minions though, which can kind of be cheap at some points.

Yeah, I don't trust those stats at all. Untill all the persistance stuff is fixed (favor, favor points, favor items) I'm not sure how I can really trust anything persistant.
Also any stats that include AI are totally inaccurate.

It`s to early to call for nerfs. My previous 10 games, If Regulus was there I picked on him. My last game, Regulus played by a good player annihilated me. As the Torch Bearer.

Agreed. But don't make the creeps automatically attack the towers. They should just sit in the middle of the map and build up an army.

he has a good point guys seriously, right now generals are playing like assassins, if none of you realise that generals should rely on there minions more than themselves being awesome please think through it again.almost all competative generals i've played have ignored minions almost entirly apart from monks, comeon if im playing a general i want it to be viable to play almost exclusivly with my minions.slurple isnt saying generals are op, hes saying there not playing like generalsand i dont think slurple could suck so bad, i mean he was in the beta for a quite a while..... and hes possibly the biggest troll of all time.but my view of generals being generals remains unwavered..
I wouldn't mind having one general that was pure minions... but changing all four to be more minion oriented seems a little silly to me. Maybe a future Demigod with only have skills related to minions?
maybe sd/gpg should add more controls to minions?, add more indepth controls for generals to have better controls over there minions, give them all there own lil kinks, make them more effective at what there meant to do, make the generic units like siege demolishers have a skill which does 1/4 of qot's uproot to towers with a longer cooldown cool little things like that which would add depth but would take skill so you wouldnt get bored and make the game more organic, instead of having monks have heal on autocast, why not have the ability to tell minions to heal people yourself?
i think it would add alot more replayability.
and im not saying to make generals purely generals, of course i want it to be viable to spec as a assassin as a general, but i also want to be able to spec as a general.

I have an idea, instead of nerfing generals let's give assassins the chance to buy minion idols that will even things out right? Sorry for being sarcastic, I'm having issues with an order on amazon.com.....anywho, generals can play "like" assassins but are seriously lacking in burst damage. The vamp and QoT have decent ones I guess but still few compared to someone like TB or Regulus. All the characters need a little tweaking but other than that I see no reason to nerf generals.
