Hi.
I took part in the ESL league this evening - and was disgusted quite frankly at how little chance myself (regulus) and my allie (torch bearer) had against vamp and sedna.
The regen on sedna is simply unreal, and vamp regens at a stupid rate as well - it make absolutely no sense that 2 generals can beat 2 of the strongest assassins - we couldnt even get one single kill attempting to double team either of them and we are competant players.
This needs addressed critically because it is putting me off even playing the game - how can you have ESL leagues and so on, when the game is pathetically inbalanced. This needs fixed. Today.
C'mon... you've never seen this? It's happened to me twice recently. Once against an unclean beast (I ran out to cap a flag, he came out and attacked me, I turned around and ran, he followed while attacking, and within a couple of swipes of his claws I was dead), and another time against an erebus (same sort of deal - I ran out to cap a flag, he came in, I turned around and ran, he followed behind me hitting me as I ran, he bit me, I was dead).
Can a so-called "skilled" player confirm the minimum amount of time it would take a level 1 character to kill another level 1? In other words, what's the quickest you've killed another level 1 character as a level 1 yourself? 3 seconds? 4 seconds? 5 seconds?
10 seconds or so, 1v1. Two bites for 300 damage each + autoattack.
Yeah a bit more than 10 seconds I think with just about any character.
Auto attacks dont hit for more than like 200ish (someone correct me on this with math if they want, i dont want to do it) with any DG at lvl 1, and you'd need mard's hammer and probably the cheapest gloves to do that after armor.
For UB, spit would have done 200 damage in 3 seconds, and (ignoring the time it would have taken to use spit) gotten in 4 attacks. That's about 1000 damage. not nearly enough to kill any demigod. In 5 seconds + time to spit, it's possible to kill a super squishy demigod (regulus, TB, erebus most likely) if they have no +armor or +hp items or dont use potions.
You really should have one of those 3 things at the start of the game.
TB and reg should obviously be moving away as soon as they see a UB gunning for them, and Erebus has bite to back him up.
You clearly never played DotA. In DotA 70% of the game is decided before the creeps even spawn. If you choose heroes that don't synergize you will lose. If your opponents pick synergistic heroes, they will easily defeat you, even if your team is composed of "strong" heroes.
This is what they call the metagame - the game you play before you play the actual game. Item choices and skill counters are also metagames in themselves - you must adapt to conquer your opponents, or you will lose.
I suggest you learn to play all the Demigods well, because if you insist on playing teams that consist entirely of glass cannons, then you will lose. Often.
Lmao.If you put two squishy characters against two of the characters who are best are chasing and killing squishy ranged characers what did you think would happen?
You're dumb for choosing those heroes vs them. You don't see people playing PvZ on battle royale in SC because protoss has about a 10% chance of winning. You chose heroes that required your opponents to be exceptionally bad for you to win and you're to blame. Any general + TB or any general + regulus can beat sedna/vamp regardless of how good they are as long as you play it right.
Dual assassin will always lose to dual general on even skill levels, but one of each is a very strong and viable option. Also the ESL is terrible.
I agree that it's not proof that a DG is overpowered, however, I think it's a bit nieve to think that the statistics represented on the pantheon scoreboard are at all representative of actual DG balance. There is no way in hell sedna is anywhere but the top of the heap for power when it comes to a single hero in a 2v2 or 3v3 game. There are several factors that taint the numbers such as the AI, connection issues, and people playing poorly.
If you setup a series of tournaments for $50 I gaurantee you will see what is and isn't balanced after a very short amount of time. $50 is a small amount to pay in order to A) show the community you actually care about the success of the game show the community you care about the balance and C) give people the incentive to actually try to develop deeper strategy.
It just seems like such an easy fix, but no game companies seem to use the community to help balance the game except blizzard and I'm sure that has a great deal to do with their overwhelming success as a gaming giant.
I'd love to show you balance first hand though if you want to play a game drop me a PM.
Just learn to play
It "make" perfect sense; let me employ a vernacular I feel you will grasp in explicating this situation to you… You no win cause they better than you, they make win; or to simplify it more: them>you. …I apologize, this comment was just to stupid not to be called out on, you basically imply that two assassins should always win against two generals; perhaps this is true in some counterfactual world, but not in this one, sorry bud.
sorry frogboy but that doesnt work
overall stats dont tell u much, there are plenty of bad players that throw off the stats
u have to go off how the good teams play which u dont see on the stats...
Look every class has its problems with certian classes. Eb has problem with seds but not a problem to tbs,ub,rag, and the rest are average.
Sedna has problems with tbs high damage they get to stun her before she heals. When i play a rag its hard to kill a sedna i mean i mark her to slow her then throw mines on her. rince and repeat not much else you can do.
Alot in this game are decided when you use an ability, what items you have , and wait for it skill with that said class. I am not even factoring in that a pot is there for them to turn round and make the hunted.
If you do not know a said class and do not use an ability at the most oprtunistic time then you lose
you know i always find that there are 2 types of responses that people have when they lose, and i think it says alot about a person's personality type which response they give.
1) "this is rigged, I demand the game to be changed so it is easier for me to win."
or
2) "hmm, wonder what happened? i should go figure out why I lost and what I should do differently next time."
Why do people assume that Generals should be weaker than Assassins? Just because they have minions they should be crap? How does that make any sense. That's the whole reason they are so strong, because they used to be weak and crap and nobody played them. Not to mention they've already nerfed Erebus since release, THE ONLY NERF, so if you're still complaining, there's no making you happy.
agreed.
the only people you should turn to for advice about balance changes in the player base is the highest rated players.
listening to players who dont know what they are doing causes:
the game becomes too easy
the game therefore becomes boring
good players leave, because there is no challenge
You are a wise individual.
Glad I actually read the thread so I could quote rather than write it again. ^^
3v3 opens up choices a bit more, but in a 2v2 survivability is king, and that's what Generals are all about.
Frogboy:
"As you can see from the stats linked above, Sedna is actually the weakest Demigod in terms of % of wins and the Vampire Lord is right in the middle."
Are you sure the Pantheon stats are reliable? I don't think the stats page works correctly (half of my games with my teammate show him being on the losing team instead of on my team)so I'd question the patheon page statistic as well.
Also, doesn't the Pantheon include AI in the god stats, what about rage quits, disconns due to players dropping etc and wanting to remake the game?
Either way, I'm a very skilled player (pro who gives pro tips) and I play this game alot (http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/player/19297) and I love it to death. I NEVER play panthean because I can't match up with my teammates and custom games don't match me against AI. However, to say that Sedna is not overpowered is silly and means you need to log more hours or play better people. She heals, does 1k damage, has insane hp regen, and SUPER speed. I mean wtf, why does the healer have a 1k damage spell AND a heal AND the highest HP regen possible AND the highest or 2nd highest run speed in the game? And you don't think she's might be overpowered? Are you using Yetis? You know they're broken right (don't respond to commands), along with all the other minion AI in general (horrible pathing), you know this right? Stop using Yetis and you'll see how powerful Sedna is.
Additionally, there is no way a Torchbearer + Regulas should be able to beat a skilled team with Sedna or even Oak, so the original poster is correct in saying this is "unfair". When my partner and I want to win without question, we choose Sedna and Oak and roll the other team. (How could we lose with HoL shield, healing, 1.8k of instant damage, pent's debuffs, and super run speed x2?) In 2v2's you must have at least one support character, Sedna, Oak, or QoT, that's just the way the game works, being able to press the reset button mid battle via shield or heal is a huge advantage.
I don't want you to change the game because I enjoy the game the way it is and it's close enough to balanced, but it is true that some Demigod combos are not as good as others. I mean, TB + Regulas has soooo many problems: Where's the tank? Where's the "oh shit save me button" (don't say universal gadget or pots because that screws your econ waaaaay too much to be used as an equivalent to sedna)? Where's the interrupt? What? You went frost? Oh crap your dps is now half against a pair that you need to out dps a heal.
If there is any validity to the OP's rant, the only change I could think of to make it more balanced without borking stuff is to make Mark of the Betrayer apply it's damage prior to Sedna's heal going off and fix mode switching for torch bearer.
Also, using the Pantheon stats to justify hero power has another huge flaw in it. QoT is at the bottom. The majority of players have no clue how to use and abuse her shield + armor crush spike thing. In a well played (lagless) game where you can mode switch with impunity, the QoT will roll the other team. If the mode switching were made less painful, she would easily be overpowered. I mean c'mon...slow...armor reduction debuff....hp shield, but she's at the bottom of the pantheon? Either people don't know how to play her or everyone else hates mode switching as much as I do given the current bugginess/stun it causes and plays her only half way to her potentiial.
