Hey,
I'm interested in possibly getting Demigod (after trying the forthcoming demo, of course), but I have to admit I'm offended by the Queen of Thorns as pictured on this website. IMO, she is far beyond the "partial" nudity the game is rated for. That's like saying you only ate "part" of a pie, when all that's left is one tiny crumb.
Anyhow, I'd like to know: how much of this game can be played (both SP and MP) without having to see the Queen of Thorns?
This post is not directed at anyone, i just find the topic interesting and i will like to say what i think.
I like a frase that says "A good person is not the one that helps you but the one that doesn't bother you" (it sounds better in spanish), well what i mean is that i belive that everyone have thier opinions and you should not try to "help" them by trying to convinve them that what they belive is wrong. That said i also belive that i have a right to have my opinion and within that right is the right to have an opinion about your opinion (if you understand), what it mean is that i can have an opinion about what you belive and thats my right, as long as i dont try to impose my belive to you.
I do not now why someone sees QoT and thinks of sexuality, at first i didnt even noticed (of course i noticed she was semi-naked i just didnt payed attention to it), but its true that after carefull examination i do find it sexual and in a good way (i like sexual).
Now regarding violence over nudity, i do belive that violence is worst than nudity(In Demigod violence is bigger than nudity, i mean, Rook crushing the minotaurs and the blood falling and all that), but also i really dont try to avoid any, i find a womans body intoxicating in real life, and even in games and animated movies i find the pictures of woman to be beatifull, in the case of violence it spices the movies and games, can you imagine the movie "hannibal" without its morbosity and gore or Bioshock if you couldn't kill everyone.
I just belive that todays society is a little to outraged by violence and nudity.
Well to b more in the point of this topic, QoT's nudity is what makes her unique, and quite frankly if anyone want's to be offended you just have to look in the kid's tv shows, they teach racicism, sexism and a bunch a socialy retarded norms.
Sorry for the double post.
Guys we shouldn't exploit fictional women
Yeah come-on we do that enough to real women.
@LordCarlos
I agree with you, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and with the sentiments about imposing beliefs and that doesn't mean people don't have a right to voice their beliefs as some have in this thread.
Personally I don't have any issues with nudity, violence or sexuality for adults to view within reason, for example any of that depicted against children, or the violence is consentual such as sport.
What I think many in this thread can't understand and certainly I can't is the idea that someone is offended by partial nudity. I can't think of anything more natural and beautiful than the nude body of a healthy and fit person, the idea that someone would be offended by the form when it is not even in a sexual encounter is in my opinion crazy. I could totally understand if someone is offended by violence in video games, violence is something I am totally against in real life but I can seperate video games from real life quite happily so I feel I can enjoy the primal instincts if you like of acting on humans completely natural violent side but at the same time not impact on my morals or empathy for whoever I am acting out violence on.
Maybe it is a religious belief that they feel they shouldn't look at the partial nudity of the female, who knows, either way it seems very misguided to me.
I've seen a few more of these threads pop out, and I have to say I assume at least some of them are 'trolls'. This one doesn't, so I post here. The OP posted a very decent update to his original post on page 2 or so, which I suggest reading. (It's kind of obvious a lot here didn't.).
With that said:
Way too often, scantily clad women are not included in a game, magazine, movie, whatever because of artistic licence, but because sex sells. A lot. Demigod is far, far, FAR from the worst example of this. In fact, I'd say I'm surprised it even got on the list. As has been pointed out, you see more T&A going down main street. But we all know why it's the QoT that is on the marketing posters, right?
The marketing thing says, subconsciously, 'Hi, I'm Demigod. I'm a scantily clad faerie. Buy me!'. I find that in part to be offensive. Not because I don't like .. let's say adventurously dressed babes.. but because it's callous, demeaning and cheap, both to women and to myself. I'm more than a walking penis and choices should be made on another basis. I see no reason to be offended about partial - or full nudity for that matter, the human form is quite beautiful - as long as there's a reason for it OTHER than 'sex sells'.
There is also a naked Rook. This game may not be for you.
Is this guy even serious.
GO look at some damn gameplay video's /screenshots. You can't see her vagina or tits when ur playing and zoomed out 300 feet. Wtf...Your on the internet and ur worried about tit's...
Do you have cable?
I dont want to censore anyone, but come on we have like 3 pages full of the same responses, at first it was funny now its getting old. Ok we get it, he is a little weird just because he does not want to see QoT naked, And im sorry that i had to take your post as an example i have nothing against what you said.
Sorry guys, we have no plans to change the QoT, since the current model was sufficient for a T rating from the ESRB.
This discussion has long gone past civil or constructive.
The Queen of Thorns in her current state was reviewed and approved by the ESRB. If you wish you avoid this demigod in your game, simply play custom games and make sure no one selects the QoT in the game lobby before starting.
This thread is being locked (as well as others on the same topic).
I'm going to try this one more time.
Obviously, "offended" was the wrong word to describe how I feel about the QoT. I'm not offended by the female body. I feel that a woman's sexuality should be reserved for her husband (or future husband if not yet married). Likewise, I feel that a man's sexuality, such as my own, should be reserved for my future wife. I happen to feel that both men and women who exploit themselves in public are looking for the wrong kind of attraction. If you disagree with me, that's fine with me, but anyone who thinks I'm the only one who feels this way needs to do some research.
I never asked anyone to change the game for me. You're thinking of the other guy that voiced a concern about the QoT in a separate topic yesterday. All I asked was "how much of this game can be played without the QoT?"
I'm not unattractive, nor am I insecure about sexuality. I just feel that sexuality is for a specific time and place.
Only in America, you say? Quite possibly! It just so happens that most Americans are more tolerant of violence than nudity. Public nudity is illegal here. Which means that I'm one of 250+ million others that shares at least a part of my viewpoint! I would challenge any takers to give me some exact, well thought-out reasons why we should all take part in public nudity. If you have any good reasons for why the past few thousand years of wearing clothing is *bad* for us, please share them. Oh, and by the way, we do have good reason to be ashamed. Look back over human history, and how horribly we have treated both each other and our planet.
Also, the Demigod Rook, Bugs Bunny, and Donald Duck don't have human sexuality. Actually, they don't have ANY sexuality.
I can offer proof that we are born thinking nudity is wrong. How do you explain the fact that we just discovered a new civilization in the jungles of South America a few months ago, and they were all wearing loincloths when we found them.
I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. I've spent the last three posts trying to UNruffle feathers. My OP got answered, and all I want now is for us all to agree to disagree and get on with the rest of our lives. I'm also not complaining about game ratings.
A couple of you have said you hate me. You hate me? You hate me for having a sense of decency and morals? You don't even know me! You're willing to hate me just on the basis that I have different standards than you do? Honestly...
