Here are my suggestions for what I think should be priority for the next patch not dealing with connectivity and all. Just sort of, doable stuff.
Bug fixes
BalanceThese aren't all nessisarily overpowered things, or underpowered, but in some cases skills aren't really worth additional points for lvling and such, or just things to add more variance.
In General
Unclean Beast
Regulas
Rook
Queen of Thorns
Sedna
Erebus
Oak
Torch Bearer
ItemsI don't really think anythink is too overpowered or anything now, but theres tons of redundant useless items. These are items that I think need to be COMPLETELY replaced with all new stats, not even attempt to play with thier cost or +stats, because there are just other items doing their job right that make these useless.
Yeah, most of these are sort of dual purpose items. Thing is, I've never had an issue with just selling something to buy better. An item doing something simular to two items, but half as good, just prooves to not be good. The only way to make them good would e to make them overpowered. And some suggestions for items replacing these would be stuff like. Don't really expect this sort of stuff soon, but I'll add it. :/:
These items with just some balance issues:
Huh. Does that 0.1 really counts so much?
Anyway good post, i agree with some of it. You put a lot of work in it.
It's more for consistancy than balance. But yes it does make a difference when you compare with mass charm..
There are only 2 skills, IIRC, that are 0.4 cast, and 1 skill that is 0.9 cast. Most skills are instant, 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, with special cases of 1.5 for hammerslam and 2.0 for snipe.
Consistancy for cast time is good because it makes it easier to judge interupts.
Some additional bugs that need fixing:
- When you run from someone who is chasing you, and you use a potion of life, after you drink it, the character turns back and attacks the chaser (or a creep, if it finds one near him) instead of continuing to run. Right now it seems that all characters have the attack command prioritizing over anything else, and is very frustating when you just want to run from someone with 1 HP.
-the alt-tab is bugged (tested in vista and win 7 only). It may crash the game or produce strange bugs (like my avatar demigod in the menu disappearing or corrupting save files ->you get the [no text] when trying to load a map). Most of the times it works right, but in two occasions it corrupted my save files and was a pain to fix, so now i'm afraid every time i alt-tab the game.
-the chat text box at the end of the game, on lower resolutions (like 1280x or 1360x), gets covered by the score tab, like in pic below.
I really disagree with the whole tone of this patch.
Nerfing things is always going to be less fun, and make the demigods feel more "samey" than it would otherwise. The most dynamic kind of matches are where everyone is doing crazy things and coordinating. Increasing cooldowns, mana cost, etc. on all these abilities means more seconds of just sitting there passively attacking each other, which is no fun.
How can we talk about balancing classes when all bugs aren't out yet? let's fix issues like responsiveness and favor points before we start worrying about that. We aren't truly even playing the game that was meant to be played until then.
I'd say it's far from redundant, I use it almost every game at some point, if you are already packing mana regen or a heart of life I prefer this to Vlemish, or even couple it with it on a mana heavy character, you can never have too much health.
Erm well I think you're doing it wrong then.
Let's not make this a tactical discussion regarding items, but as long as some people use them - they are not redundant.
I use them as well, although only with Erebus. But I find them very useful, because I pick him for certain matches where I need to hold my lane for a long time, without going to the base (and I really mean long time); they are just perfect for that situation, because it's a build which is not item dependant - as long as I have mana, I am doing great. For 1500g, they are amazing.
Anyway, back to the topic - I made my new list of things that should be changed from my point of view - I'll post them as soon as I sort them properly.
It's true, the 70% and 1050 Mana is great for when you are getting epic mana/regen up, you can get erebus over 100mana per second with 5 of the helments, it allows you to basically mist forever to hold off creeps forever. It may not be an efficent or your prefered strategy for him, but the vinling helmet is indeed useful in some play styles.
I just wish that when I click on a Demigod with a targetable ability like Bite or Heal or Shielding that it would actually go off...
Or give a sound when it doesn't.
Great OP, well thought out. I think GPG should seriously consider SOME of these ideas.
I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, but I'd like to see critical hits addressed, esp. how they stack. Late game it's possible to have multiple crits go off at once and kill an enemy DG in a single auto-attack. There's a couple ways to solve this, such as just adding the crit percentages (5% + 10% = 15% total). I'd also probably like to see Ashkandor brought down to x2 damage with a higher chance, as x4 crits are a bit excessive. Critical items should give you more damage, some of which is a bit bursty, but it shouldn't make a fight totally and completely about the random number generator, which it is very late game right now in too many cases.
