Some thing need to be done about rage quitting.
Every time I lose, I stay in it until I lose it. It will go on my record. But, every time I win, the other side quit out and that battle will not count. Now that means it will lead to continuous stack on my lost record, and it is quite annoying to look like a noob who lost so many times when you didn't.
Or I could just not care about ranking and accept it as a flaw of the game.
However, I feel honest/last stand gamers should be rewarded, not punished.
Comment and opinions?
(and to complete a cycle of every new game's problem on ranking & rage quit, this thread was made)
I only quit when I'm with (unresponsive) randoms vs arranged teams.
With current connectivity issues its fair to say you dont most of the time have a CLUE if enemy/yourside is actually quitting or not.
I have been in team where iether me or someone else quits at totally odd times, which I blaim for connectivity issues fror dropping that person and replacing them with an AI. Only 'rage' quitters I could confirm are those that are actually vocal and say they will leave and that's that.
As I have said earlier, the game is bit too simple and flawed in its economy/experience setup as it is. We all know that if another team starts on earlygame cropping up demigod losses, the gold influx and experience to opposing team starts to turn the tables. Which is as its supposed to, problem is that there isnt much chances for underdog team to make a comeback. The game isnt even equipped for such... after you lose enough, which is a discussable matter. The game is lost, no matter if the enemy havent yet finished its objectives.
There just aint any benefit for the loser to just stick in there, you dont get favour. You dont get experience, you dont get gold. When enemyteams champions have gained levels letsay plus four to five to what your group got, there just aint much possibilities to come back at all, especially AI's on your team are just suicidical at that point, they dont... modify they own behaviour vs opponents strenghts at all, which just screws things up even further.
I personally would like to see gold/exp gain completely removed from killing demigods, would balance fights from start/end and give more tactical chances on even 'losing' side to turn the tables and still win. I do like the fact there is different objectives on winning matches and in some ive actually won against horribly overleveled opponents by just focusing on goals rather than trying to farm like too many seem to do. Yet, this only works on something like flag capping matches.
Not when you can't easily see what items your opponents are equipped with. Poor purchases are on of the main reasons for losing.
so far out of a few games now i'd say 10+ i've had 1 game where both players on the other team actually stayed even though me and my team mate slaughtered them, apart from that 1 game, every other game i've played has had either 1 or both players leaving, and i have to say it's really pissing me off. I'm sick of playing with the AI because some asshole RQ's because he is losing slightly or because i killed him once. I agree that there should be a punishment for people who RQ, but what though....
Also played an amazing game, 2v2 pantheon, in the huge map, both teams were neck and neck it was a fully even fight we all new wtf was going on and not doing stupid shit, and then they got fucking disconnected......................... or the game split
There is a benefit for staying in the game past the point where you know loss is imminent: Favor points. Depending on how badly you lost, this might be as low as 15 (particpant award), but it is entirely possibly that you may pick up other awards as well, such as kills, deaths, citadel upgrades, damage, and so on. Often this means even a lost match can net you 40 favour or so. It isn't much mind you, and given the choice, I would certainly prefer a 'forfeit' button to obtaining a small amount of favour, but there is still at least some small reason to stick around for the loss.
Additionally, comebacks are entirely possible. I have had at least 3 games in which the winner was virtually decided, and had the game turn completely around for the other team. One of these games even had a teammate leave with a 'good game' comment, that simply lost him the award for the win we eventually obtained.
To Agent of Kharma.. I am incredibly surprised you would post that you quit for such a reason, as this appears to be the very definition of 'rage-quitting' To explain.. there are no favour items that would push the other player to a point that they would dominate you to such a degree given all other factors being equal, and from the way the game it designed, it's difficult to imagine that an 'exploit' would exist that could alter his damage (otherwise we would see characters inflicting 9999 everywhere). It seems more likely that either A: There was another player supporting him (regulus) or his team obtained the +15 health regen flag or the +10% damage flag, or both. Additionally he may have simply gotten 'lucky', either in direct hammer hits, or through autodamage which is already known to be on a randomized basis, or perhaps used combat potions and you lagged out of the animation.
What bothers me the most about trying to justify leaving in a huff, is that the leavers appear to be under the impression that their opponents are pricks that want nothing better than to laugh at their failure, when a simple comment to 'all' (using shift-enter) asking how your opponent accomplished that win, or a "You slimy bastard, I'll get you next time!" might lend to starting a friendly conversation out of what could otherwise turn into a silent festival of frustration.
i only rage quit if there is no possible way to win like my team mates dc
I have to completely agree 100% here. I don't want people to quit, because I think you learn more by toughing it out, rather than throwing in the towel. And besides, a simple 'Damn you!' or whatever goes a long way in opening up communications. I've gotten my butt handed to me more than once, but I always stayed, if only to (jokingly) tease the opposing team. ANyway, [/rant]
but staying in a 5v5 when ur team has all dced and there team hasn't got one dc seems o so pointless
Certainly a fair argument, but really, they have to kill the AI bots anyway, I may as well see what I can learn. I'll be frustrated, but still, oddly, having fun. Especially with that rare last-second, "I got him!" kill that's never expected
[edit]: Then again, maybe I'm just that sort of vindictive where I feel like even if I'm the last human on a 5-man team I have to try and make the other guys work for it. Got me.
u have good points evil but i still think a 5v5 were ur the only one on ur teamis boring and pointless
but i think it is even worse if there is a dude on ur team but he doesn't type at all now that is fucked up
This is a great idea. Wasting 10 minutes of your life just to watch the opposing team farm you for gold as you watch all your buildings burn is anything but fun. In a chess game I can resign at anytime and it is not considered 'ragequit'.
There needs to be a resign/surrender option. It is very annoying after the whole team quits half way and its just you and your teamate, farming bots. It is amazingly annoying. Why do I have to kill these bots just to finish the game? If I wanted mess with the stupid AI I would have played singleplayer. They should make it so that it is automatically considered a draw/win if the entire other side quits or disconnects.
Actually it is probably obvious when you kill another player in a close fight and they leave almost immediately... 80% of the time when a player leaves I hold the tab button to see the person who left is on a spawn timer.
Well said. And while I don't agree that experience/gold reward from player kills should be removed entirely, I think the gold rewards should be reduced substantially. Also some of the items need to be nerfed a bit. The imbalance gap widens mainly because of gold, and because the items you buy with that gold in the right combination are borderline exploits. Obviously players who are getting farmed don't have that option.
i only ever rage quit in single player...
but rage quitters should be getting a penalty for resigning a game earlya loss countAI to take over with a message saying that the player has resigned.
x
excalibur it comes up with a message saying ai has taken over for this person
and sometime rage quiting is alright like if ur fighting pros with no team
I also do think people pool up in the pile of rage quitters folks that dont actually have anything to do with the term.
Ragequitting as far I am considered is often a emotional response of someone doing something and you get fed up and leave.
With current gamestructure/networking issues as said its sometimes pretty much uncertain if people quit on purpose or client crashes/disconnects them out of some fancy reason.
One game I playd, one where my side actually started to make a comeback after initial problems, like losing allmost in start three times and then playing alot more carefully and more tactic oriented (towards matchgoals where enemy focused on other things) I got disconnected and im sure my teammate didnt fancy that one bit, the game was too close and not really favouring us at that point. I award the hat for 'rage'quitting to the client and networking side.
I agree sometimes people disconnect and quit, but honestly aint that what folks do when something aint going they way in todays world and especially in games. Its a pretty much a common policy if you observe how people play multiplayer games nowdays. I can understand its downside of making rest of the match boring for the opposition, but why on earth should the folks stay if they dont enjoy they game. Afterall thats the card that I see lifted up often. 'I play to have fun and if im not having fun, ill quit or do something else.' Quitting aint going to go anywhere even if you penalized people from quitting, donnow about the percentage but I could imagine alot aint playing pantheon and other matches to give a damn about favour thats broken or not. They play for selfish reasons to alleviate boredom or any n+1 other reasons.
I suppose a good question is why those people quit, is the gamedesign such that it dosnt really harbour enough intrest for those not steamrolling other side to play it or what. If you crack that puzzle the quitting for sure would be dimished.
Exactly. When someone manages to create a game where losing is fun then this whole thread will become moot.
For comparison, fighting games lack slippery slope (at least long term kind). Even if you have 1hp left, and the other guy has full hp, you can still pull out a win if you've got enough skill. On the other hand, that's like someone in Demigod starting with 50k gold and level 20, vs somoene starting with 1k gold and level 1. Even if the latter is the best DG player in the world, he has almost no chance of winning, if the former is has even the slightest idea what he is doing.
Maybe a reward for staying... like a "Good Sport" award or something you know? Just something to encourage players to stay. If I'm only going to get 10-25 favor then I might as well leave and find something else to do. If I could get at least half of what the winners get then I wouldn't mind sticking it out until the very end.
Demigod doesn't have anywhere near the big "slippery slope" that some people on forums are claiming..play someone with skill.
and yeah..stats need to be fixed..etc. etc. blah blah.
i just dont like having the favor items on when some people have them it is annouyingit is like fighting with a boxer but u get to kick him in the nuts 5 times
Remember though, sometimes it's not rage over losing but just being practical (as some have stated already). If it's obvious that the game is lost and a person has a limited amount of time to play they may be leaving so that they can find anyonther game to play in the time they've got.
I know that working a 45+ hr week as a standard with a wife, kid, house and all the trimmings I don't always want to "waste" what time I have on a lost cause. Not saying that I always bailout, just depends on what is happening irl and the time that's available to play a game. The rare but very fun comeback win can be worth all the pain IF your team has the communication, time and effort.
/shrug.
There needs to be a way to concede the game by vote, rather than have people quit.
What about the rage players?
"Stop dying you tard!"
"Why the fuck are you playing this game ya noob!"
"Learn how to play the game idiot!"
You know, I never quit a game either; I play to the end. But I do see comments like these throughout directed at myself or other players so I can understand why somone would quit to avoid immature players who apparently can play the game whilst typing insults non-stop.
I wish something could be done about these folks. I suspect the rage quitter problem might diminish a little.
Just a thought.
Cheers!
