Hi there,
well, i dont think that there is a single person out that doesnt know about starcraft 2
Well, if you ask me....i would buy ANYTHING from Blizzard, even if its "Ponyfarm Deluxe". So, here we go again, Starcraft 2 is comming out 2009, the sequel to the most played Real Time Strategygame in the world. I just watched both Battlereports (2 matches, each over 20 minutes long) and all i can say is: WOW!
It seems that just everything is simply amazing, the units...the design, even the physic engine! The units are realy different, so are the 3 factions. I just dont find any words to say how amazing this is going to be
I will be one of the crazy guys that will join the midnight sale of Starcraft 2. I think it will sell 10 Million copys in under a week
Same as with Diablo 3, but this is another story
Im glad that Demigod is something different, because any normal RTS is like a joke compared to Starcraft
About physics engine: Until I am able to build a trebuchet which works solely based on physics, I remain unconvinced.
But ya, I look forward to buying the game. I actually haven't played Starcraft before though...
I never cared much for the ladder or single player in Starcraft,
but the "UMS" (use map settings) maps were so insanely well done, it kept me playing the game for over a year. I hope SC2 comes with a powerful map editor like its predecessor.
You know what? Starcraft 2 will even have a better and more powerfull editor than warcraft 3 (thats confirmed). You can change ANYTHING with it...textures, scripts, sounds, modells...just everything. So we will get it all...DOTA, Towerdefenses and so on for starcraft 2
Hot diggity.
Starcraft 2 will be great... when it finally comes out

Same here and it seem awesome and I woudl realy like to get it however their si one thing that gives me a cold shuolder. The game will be realease in 3 parts.
1st part will contain the Terran campaing, multiplayer and will cost 80$
2nd part will contain a 2nd campaing Protoss or Zerg plus some aditional new units and will Cost 60$
3rd part will hold the last and finaly campaing (as well as the rummered Xelnaga) new units and cost 60$
So that'S 200$ for the total game. So thats an ouchie.
80$?!
Well, Collectors Edition = 80$
ok, i would even buy it for 200$...but seriously, there is NO way that blizzard is going to sell the normal version of starcraft 2 for 80$. The expansions (2 other parts) will be CHEAPER than the regular price...this is confirmed...so it will be around 30-40$ than.
Also, you only need ONE part to play it online, you get all 3 factions with any part that you buy...just for the singleplayer story, you actually need all 3 parts to see the full story
$80 is ludicrous. Where did you get that figure from?
The staggered releases smells of an EA type raping of their customers. Seems like the merger with Activision has turned a great company into just another greedy corporate entity. RIP Blizzard of old .
I'm not too fanatical about SC anyways, so I don't mind waiting for a bundle after all three is out at a discount.
If he's not in the USA it could be that much.
I just look at the expansions as a way of funding Battle.net 2. So I'm all for a good online matchmaking system
The editor is what makes this game an auto-buy for me. I almost never played normal WC3 multiplayer, instead I played the RPG maps with my friends(love the save/load codes). Last I knew Blizard was leaving the hero system in the editor even though it won't be in the normal game. I can't wait for a 'The Black Road' level RPG map to be made.
I see RTS games as an evolutionary dead-end. They barely evolve at all. Starcraft in particular is closer to an arcade game than to strategy. I used to like C&C a lot before EA bought it and made a mockery of it.
In Starcraft and Warcraft3:
- units are very fast, vision range very short. By the time you discover enemy units you're already fighting them.
- ranged units are distinguished by having arbitrary damage modifiers, not by dealing damage before enemy reaches them ! This kind of thing is true for many other units. Unit relations are rarely organic. Usually it's some sort of made up mechanic and arbitrary damage modifiers. How do you beat artillery ? Why, with big, slow, easy to spot vehicles (Immortal) ! How do you beat ranged units ? Why, with melee units (zealot sprint abiility) ! Abandon common sense if you plan to play Starcraft.
- no formations. Formations don't matter, units just clump together, and you can disengage from enemy at any time without consequences as long as you're not slower.
- what kind of strategy community prefers to play on 'fastest' setting ?
- what kind of strategy community argues in favour of worse interface ? Multiple-building select, autocast of no-brainer abilities like repair and healing. They argue that worse interface allows 'skilled' players to shine by clicking faster.
- what kind of strategy community measures performance in clicks per minute ?

Supreme Commander tried to move things forward, unfortunately they failed probably to 1) bland setting 2) unreasonable hardware requirements,
B0rsuk, I agree.
The bland setting is almost entirely fixed in FA FYI.
Track down a copy of Total Annihilation. I still don't like how they toned it down a bit when they made Supreme Commander (worst part was when they added the artificial limitations on what weapons could target).
Also, TA Spring is a free, fan made version of TA with updated graphics and cursor zoom(best free game ever).
TA was released before Starcraft, yet it is better than almost every single RTS ever made.
GPG needs to find a way to get the TA license back and make a sequel with updated graphics and interface but the same game play.
Cost is $40 per game. So $120 for all 3. The campaign expansions will include new units for all races in MP. It'll be worth it imo.. will be playing this game 10 years from now. Thousands of hours into it.As far as I've heard from tons of people at least, both the original terran campaign will cost $40 and all expansions, not $50 or $60 like most games. But I'm sure there will be avery expensive collectors edition.
Hell, I'd buy it even if there was no game.. just the editor, if it of coures had the big playerbase too to play the modmaps with.
I'd rather pay $100 for guild wars that I've put 1800 hours into than $50 for some crap rushed buggy game that never gets patched and I'm bored of after less than 300 hours of play.
Inno you play way too many video games.
I run out of things to beat people in.
Play Sins of a Solar Empire. Done.
I'm looking forward to Diablo III much more than Starcraft II, but the latter seems like it won't disappoint either.
Sigh they need to release SC2 now!!!!!! Or Diablo 3.
One problem with Blizzard is that they usually release a game 2-3 years after estimated time.
I know by saying this I'm probably committing forum suicide and speaking the ultimate heresy but...
Starcraft II is going to be a pass for me.
It's around $50 preorder. Still expensive though.
Unless it brings something new to the RTS elements, I'm going to pass on this. Company of Heroes was the last RTS that has satisified me. I haven't read much on it, but I like large scale battles. If they are bringing heroes into starcraft I am going to be bummed, it was a total turn off for me in Warcraft 3.
Tatertot - While they are bringing back heroes, it is a custom-map only option. Melee games won't have them.
The thing I'm looking forward to is the Scum Editor - however don't expect to have tons of new freedoms compared to wc3 World Editor. For starters, it's going to have a lot of options disabled until the expansion.
