I've been passing the time in various ways:
1. Devising new strategies and crushing AIs in Civ4. Praetorian power!
2. Reseating flagstones. (my life is very exciting).
3. Playing with my new kitten!
Sentient species taste better...
I've been working on this. It's an idea for a Grand Theft Auto gane, I've been working hard on it lately.
I'm in the process of trying to get through one of the toughest games (TA) that I can ever recall playing so far, but probably by the time I complete it, the MV should be up and running again or at least here's hoping.
Shit Seth, that's mighty impressive.
As a GTA fan myself you have the hit the nail on the head with what would be a bloody good story, especailly with LJ in there too!!
I'd be interested to see how that story evolves.
Good work mate!
Been playing on my new PS3, or to be more specific i have been crashing my car to destruction online in a good old destruction derby game playing Race Driver Grid. Not had a lot of spare time as i have too much to do around the house and the kids are just too demanding as well.
That and the fact i have been going through a patch of ill health of late mean GCII has had to take a back burner for the time being.
1) Making new avatars.
2) Minor tinkering at the TwP Forum
3) Determining that 700k is the most I'll ever squeeze out of the one MV game I have going.
4) Thinking about trying a DL game. I'll start it as soon as the MV comes back up, and can finish it next time the MV goes down. From what I've read, it looks like a DL game can take a long, long time to complete on suicidal.
Why thank you Nelio, I've been working on that idea for weeks now. Now I'm going to work on my Geckodon Allliance AAR which I promise will be interesting.
1) Finishing up the Weapons Thumbnails for GC2DA+TA.
2) X-Worlds 06-B tasks and continuing the fleets (Aquatoid+Sectoid+Anthropod, alllllllmost ready).
3) CoSH 05-C... Kryptonite, Individual flagships (BatMobile!), etc.
4) Watching the NHL playoffs.
5) Life as usual.
Work/Homework/GF/Heroes...
and hoping someone helps me int he bug reports forums so i can play TA =P
Mmmmm...Mu Shu.
I am not the regular player I used to be but after each couple of months the call of galactic skirmish is tearing me back and then I am in a strong need to just have another game. Now shit happened and the MV is down..snif..snif.
Meanwhile, what am I supposed to do?
1) Thinking about which new race should I play and do some related homework (plan A, plan B and study the unique tech of that particular race)
2) Checking every 10 min if the MV is back again…
3) Have a look to my few cash left in shares and hope its going soon up again.
4) Swimming, cooking, napping…zzzzzzz
The clock is ringing again, dreams are put on hold, need to go to my office….
PS: I always wanted to try CIV4...heard the AI is quite good...maybe once
COD5, Worldwide Football Manager 2009, Sins, Railroad Tycoon 2 Hope it gets back soon though!
The Metaverse is down? I've been out of it for two weeks and things go down hill. How long has it been broken?
Since the day Demigod was released. Demigod had server issues then somewhere along the line (read that as SD took the MV down to make room for Demigod IMHO) the MV died.
According to Kryo in a different thread, it doesn't look good and could take some time to fix.
I saw that! Very alarming, indeed. When the IT guys where I work use the word "uncooperative", it usually means that a critical component in the Box-O-Wires has become a glob of smoldering, fused metal. This is usually followed my the revelation that someone took the backup system offline for maintenance right before the meltdown. When our IT guys use the word "maintenance", they really mean that they are having one of their marathon p2p weekends, and needed to use some equipment from the server room.
Hehe. Strangely enough, the "borrowed MV server" scenario is starting to look preferable to the alternatives.....
It loos like the retailer GameStop should indirectly be blamed for the whole mess caused on the servers at Stardock. No idea what was the role of the MV-server at this stage, borrowed or not, but its pretty nasty.
Have a look at this link explaining the issues at the release of Demigod:

Upgraded some computers. Trying my hand at overclocking a quad core ATM. Made some wedding DVDs for a friend.
Planted some strawberries. Planted some grass in my back yard that I got from the Royal Memorial stadium's field at U.T. in Austin. (From between the goal line and the 10 yard line).
If this keeps up, I'll wash the dog.
Well, I actually just had a strong desire to play a bit just now. More-so to finish off my DA/TA spy cost research to finally finish that personal project. I think it will only take 1 more game to verify if my last game's thought process was correct.
Some reason I thought about a cash refund instead of carrying over spending to the next spy since THAT doesn't happen. Figuring in that much, I can see how much I'm expecting my treasury to be the following week, finish the spy and compare the two numbers. The amount higher my treasury is vs what I was expecting then could be taken off of what I just spent on that spy since it was over-spending... I did 1 run with that, I just need to confirm it now. 100 spies will take a bit to do, but perhaps after the first dozen or so matching EXACTLY may sway my desire to finish off all 100. I also keep under the 20k mark to try and avoid spending differences. Running Iconians and getting my paws on the one Krynn building makes things easy to keep my treasury low, being able to spend about 62.5-75% of my income on spies can hamper any strong economy.
As for my weekend...
Friday I went out for steak as a b-day treat. A local steakhouse makes one of the best steaks I've ever tasted. It's mainly just a dry rub with heavy black pepper, seared to perfection...
Saturday I was regretting my promise to help my wife out at her work. I got a cooshy office job, I'm soft. She works in a garden center, lifting trees/planet/wheelbarrows and shoveling all day. Oi I wasn't ready for that. I woke up yesterday and could barely move my legs. Then due to my extreeme whiteness (partly also to blame my Irish heritage) I got a nasty sun burn on neck/arms/face.
Sunday was filled with Rock Band, beer and pizza. Oh yeah...and Peggle ~eyes squint~ DAMN YOU PEGGLE!!!!
The best for all of us would be to simply go and help Loup and Motti lifting trees and planting grass, have a bear or two.. as I don’t think the MV will be running soon…

In my opinion and as far as I know Kzinti, that cute little Kitty will quickly turn into a ruthless bloodthirsty non-merci General of the Kzinti empire terrorizing the whole Galaxy… (sorry KP, I couldn’t resist….)
Given the dealings with Gamestop and tha massive amount of pirates using Demigod, i wonder if SD/GPG has a case for some legal action against them.
The amount of pirates that had Demigod on and before release day is quite an amount.
Nope, the initial surge of traffic knocked pretty much everything out (websites, databses, etc). I think IRC was about the only thing that was still working at that point.
I'm not sure if it would be wise to just not have them as a distributor for the next game or future Demigod expansions. While more sales are nice, sometimes you need to put your foot down and slap them on the wrist and let their competitors take the increase in sales.
Basically you can go to court blaming the break of an engagement (contract) and claiming charges for your loss (especially as it is not clear whether GameStop did it accidentally or willingly…may be difficult to proove it). On the other hand it is true that you may not want to do that as the defendant is at the same time an important retailer for your business.
Trust the handful of 'active' Gerontocrats to have *two* players who didn't notice the MV is down yet. You kids are always in such a hurry about everything...
p.s. Good to see some acknowledgement that kittens, home-grown strawberries, and one's own offspring are more important than even the best computer game.
Ehhhh local strawberries are hard to beat. That crap that's shoved out in winter from warmer states/countries really tastes, well, like nothing. Too much breeding for shipment, less about taste. That's why local tomatoes are heaven!
Yup, that would hurt more, plus the associated bad press that might accompany that.
I'd say given their actions and their review of Demigod (which is not a fair account considering what happened and that they were possible partly to blame) Brad may simply not want them to be associated with SD anymore.
I don't think denying one retailer your titles will hurt sales too much, folks will happily go elsewhere to find the product they want.
Though, given we don't have Gamestop down under, i have no idea how big of a retailer they are, they may be too big to deny ones products.
