I have done some reading in the FAQ of Impulse, but am not getting any smarter.
Do I understand correctly that I have to pay a yearly subscription to use Impulse if I buy a game via them? I want to get Entrenchment, but I don't want to reinstall it some years later only to get a message I am not allowed to download the patch before paying....
I haven't heard of any money switching hands over having impulse. iv bought several games from here. u pay for the game, it gets downloaded...and u play it.
Then why does it have a "remind about expirering subscriptions" option? What is this subscription thing?
Impulse does not require a subscription, but it allows you to buy subscriptions through it. A quick search shows that I can buy a WinCustomize subscription for 30$.
Think of Impulse as more of a store than a magazine or a game patch file.

I was going to, until I read they are comming out with 3 mini expansions, and then plan to re-release the game along with all 3. So I might just wait.
...at 3 times the price. $10 for game changeing strategic options as well as numerous graphical and gameplay updates?
How long are you going to wait - only the first one is out and you are missing out while you wait. Esp on the MP....
If you buy it now, you can enjoy the game now, and just get the expansions when they come out like us. trust me, the way these guys do work itll be at least a full year until the last expansion is out. (not that i dont like the work the do , but u no how it is). id say buy the game now, and the expansions as they come out.

Well if you are new to the game, I wouldn't go to the expansion yet...
Nah, not totally new. Anyways I bought it, didn't really notice any significant changes in the game mechanics, exept that they added a tab in the research.
And for some odd reason switched the Capital Ships placing in the build menu....why the heck did they do that, made more sence when it was from the weakest to the strongest.
The TEC starbase can build frigates and cruisers, but the menu slot that had frigates on it is taken up by the attack stance button so they had to shift frigates and cruisers to the second and third buttons on the UI.
