Chris Taylor,
The master of creating games without a story that leaves players asking who cares. 98 percent of the people that have purchased this game are already bored or concerned about caring past tomorrow. This is a classic Chris Taylor problem and he should not be the lead on a game... he is great a mechanics and awful on story/evecution. Can you say Space Siege, cause this is where the game is heading.
Sorry I forgot when they mentioend this was going to be a single player game. I thought this was MP focused and Single Player was just a bonus.
Well I'm having fun at the moment! The only thing that I think needs to be fixed to keep people interested is for Favor points to actually carry over in pantheon and other game modes. Once thats done I will be one happy camper

Ummm, meet the man before you jump to conclusions. Also the game was developed as a multiplayer system, so having a story to have characters go toe to toe with one another isn't really needed. I'm not sure why you were looking for some huge indepth single player experience, but the whole thing is about as complicated as Mortal Combat. Fight all the others, the winner becomes the god, so you fight and do well and you'll ascend to godhood...
Fits right along with all other fighting game concepts, it is just being in 3rd Person perspective and using more of a action RPG interface.
Nifty mashup of Tower Defense, Action RPG, and RTS.
I hate that more and more games ship without a campaign. Hate it. With all the demigods' backstories in this game, there could've been some really fun campaign play, and even a meh story can hold my attention through some really annoying gameplay.
BUT--no campaign was advertised, and I'm having a fantastic time in Pantheon right now, despite being one of the unlucky sods with negative favor points (even though I typically finish first on my side, if not the whole match, on favor...). Would I dearly love a campgain for this? Yep. Do I feel cheated? Nope. I just want the bugs fixed.
Socal,
What poll did you use for this? I bought this game, I would like multi player to be fixed, but by no means am I bored with it. I am sure Stardock has been working hard to fixed it. Despite your assertion in the other post that Stardock is lazy, I bet they have been had plenty of late nights and early mornings to resolve these things. You don't seem to have a clue on the difficulties of a software release, or what it takes to recover when something goes wrong. Draginol's post was pretty upfront on what happened and why they didn't see it in beta. Given the nature of the software they have released in the past, and their openiness in discussing the issues they have seen and are busy fixing, I'm sure I will be enjoying this game for month's to come.
As for Chris Taylor's other games, I still play Sup Com, but I must admit, after playing it for the last couple years online I is getting a little stale, so I am looking to try something different in the RTS realm, and this looks like a good fit. I doubt I am in the 2% minority when it comes to looking forward to playing this game for months, so please speak for yourself, or base it off some facts, and not whining, it annoys 98% of the people who read it. (Ok.. that's just a guess.. but I was 98% annoyed by your two rantings)
I'm sure that wasn't your last post complaining about the game, but why don't you save it until they have had a chance to fix the issues. If things are not much better by the end of next week, feel free to complain, I may even join you. I bet they will have most issues fixed and will be working on improving minor items by that time.
I'm done with my rant.. have fun and go play a game.. Single player if you must.
BigBad
Honestly BigBad, I think socal's just trolling. Complaining that the single player is flat is like complaining that a sports car gets poor gas mileage. Well, duh, it's not designed to get good gas mileage. This is an MP/skirmish game. If you don't like that, why buy it?
Are you referring to socals 1 through 239? I heard they were pretty pissed off.
And since when DG was a singleplayer game?
socal242, really who the hell are you anyways to speak of a dev like that?
if you're going to address someone by their full name then rant because you didnt get your bedtime fairy tale like mommy used to tell, when playing this game well thats your problem
a plethora of people here recognize this to be a MP game and SP is just for practice with bots
this is a mutliplayer game damn...
Also we demand ponies! And free pizza! And dollar beer night!
Hey guys, I heard OP is a fag.
On a serious note,
dude, what the heck is your problem, this game has a perfect SinglePlayer to get skills up to play Multiplayer. This is game is amazing and fun!
We already have space ponies in SINS weeble1

You know, 60% of all statistics are made up on the spot; 14% of people know that. Anyway, I guess I fall into that "2%" in your statistic. I love Demigod, but I also play a variety of games and genres at any one time, so I probably won't get bored with it anytime soon.
*Edited for extra statistics
The OP is right, you know: Games with no plot in single player are utter failures, even for multiplayer focussed games.
Unreal Tournament and Quake 3: Arena had such captivating storylines that excelled them to the top.
Counterstrike and Counterstrike: Source should be praised for their unique script writing as well as a singleplayer that properly introduced you to the game.
And we all remember the epic that Defense of the Ancients was, what broken up into a trillogy of Tolkien/Lucas proportions?
qft
dont make up random stats cause you are mad
i like the game, and if a week the multiplayer will be better
The problem is, it's a slow sports car with the speed of a scooter. As in, it's a multiplayer game with an atrocious multiplayer infrastructure... and which delivers less content than a free mod in the same category. It's supposed to be a competitive game, but with such beginings, I am afraid it will never take off and become a major esports game, because it's exceedingly rare for games to fully recover from a bad launch.
I truly believe Demigod will be the exception, and not the rule, when it comes to the quality of games to come from Stardock. But let's face it: it's not up to their standards. It's the company which edited Sins (a celebrated game), after all, so they should know we expect more from them than a faulty multiplayer-only game with non-functional multiplayer and limited content.
And to make sure people agree with him, you decided to make your post terrible by adding unncessary homophobic insult?
Look at the OP nick. Is that a throw-away or what? Who's shill are you?
If you're gonna call Chris Taylor out by name publicly like that, you need to own it you coward.
When someone trolls, you respond to him like a troll. You do not feed the troll.
A lot of attention has been given to Demigod's multiplayer capabilities. I like to think that Demigod will be the Counterstrike of strategy games.
But what about the single player experience?
Well, one of the big changes since Stardock and Gas Powered Games have teamed up is the single player game. Stardock takes single player games very very seriously. You could say it's our area of expertise.
In a couple of weeks, we hope to unveil here the single player concept. I think people will be pretty pleased as those who are worried that single player will merely be skirmishes or some scripted campaign need not worry. We have something really special and unique in development.
Stay tuned!
Ok, i'll be the first to admit it, i didnt expect this... wow sure turned out very very different than what was said.. especially the line about skirmishes. So i take back any comments about this being a multiplayer only game... the game is still fun as hell in multiplayer, but were we deceived into believing there would be more to singleplayer ?
Here is the link to the officla post when it was made http://forums.demigodthegame.com/313497
I don't care about the OP. It's not about him, it's about the insults you use, which are unwelcomed.
Finally someone quoted that. I was expecting more of single player as well since Brad said it like that before. The current single player seriously too simple. No different than Skirmish + total favor points earned. Also note this as well.
Quoting Frogboy, Those of you who know me know how big of a deal single player gameplay is. The design we've collectively come up with is extremely cool. It's not like anything I've seen in a game before. It is NOT a campaign. As easy and tempting as just doing a scripted campaign might have been, we wanted to make a single player experience that people would want to play again and again.

Dear OP,
Hi. Please do not make assumptions based on your own personal feelings and present them as the feelings of the community.
Demigod was designed to be fun to play. You play it because it's fun. You don't play it because you want a long winded story about Demigods battling for a position of power. If you bought the game without researching it or looking into the community and purchased the game seeking a non-multiplayer centric title I suggest you contact the support staff at Stardock and enjoy your refund.
Also, did you write a similar post on Valve's forums when Counter-Strike went retail complaining about it's complete lack of a Single Player campaign? I can only assume, based on your post, you believe all games require a Single Player component. I'm guessing Quake Live is your least favourite game then?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post,
yours truly,
Me.
