Not sure if anyone has tried this one before, but its a f2p mmorpg. The strange thing is, I actually enjoy it! (which is strange for a mmorpg). The only other MMORPG which ive actually enjoyed playing is Guild Wars, and I was not expecting a f2p one to be the next one I enjoy. I have been playing it for roughly 2 weeks now, and this is what I can say so far:Little Grind (compared to other MMORPG's this game has basically no grind, if you just follow the quests your level will be good). Players say grinding will hit you at level 95 which is where levelling becomes very tough. Thats a looong way away though
Fun Gameplay - This one isnt actually hack and slash, its turn based. If you have played Final Fantasy then you will know this is fun. It follows the same'ish system final fantasy VII used as in you have a time limit to finish each "turn" you have. I was thinking this might be slightly more boring, but its 10x more fun to play then hack and slash!
Great Community - This game def. has one of the best communities I have ever come across. They are very friendly and always help. The main reason for this (imo) is that players are rewarded for being helpful (get more stamina for giving gifts and some exp for answering questions etc.).Market - The market in this game is really good. You will sell and buy all yourself on the market, not from NPC's. Whenever I put items up they always get sold within 24 hours max (if its a item in low demand, if its in high demand its sometimes sold out within the minute).Item Mall - Being a f2p game it obviously has one. Thankfully it actually doesnt break the game and make it "unfair" for players who chose not to use it. Everything from the item mall can be bought from the market with ingame gold.Thoughts from other people who have tried this one out? If your looking for a good MMORPG atm then I reccomend this one.
Didn't try it. Read their spiel on it and decided it's worthless:
-No rogue/assassin. (Perfect World had no rogue/assassin and I couldn't play that, either.)
-No mage. (This is in contrast to most MMOs where the mage is exponentially the single most powerful class, so that's not necessarily a bad thing, but still, it's a standard item that's sorely missing.)
-Three "archer/hunter" classes.
-Three "swordsman" classes (although one could argue for a bit more categories here, as only one actually uses a sword.)
-The "priest" is not a dedicated priest but a priest/mage hybrid in an attempt to satisify both requirements. On paper, this fails, although having not tried the game I can't say how badly it fails. (The system as it is in Lineage 2, where the priest/mage hybrid is a starting point, is not a bad way to do it, as then mages can do minimal support and priests can do minimal damage.)
-Bottom line: No variety.
-They had an update a while back which they were absolutely exuberant about where the amount of kills you're allowed per day is restricted to 100 when under level 50 and 50 from there up until level 100. Now maybe this is workable, but based on the idea that the promotion that they ran/are running that if you're not happy with the game by the time you get to level 50 they'll give you $20, I don't think 100 kills a day is going to get you anywhere. In your average MMO, that won't even take you to level 15, and from there it only gets worse.
-Did I mention it's turn based? After all the above, you'd think it couldn't get worse, but it's turn based. The last turn based MMO I played was Dofus...and I quit that for a reason (although admittedly its execution wasn't that bad in comparison).
-And now of course they're doing the cash shop thing. Have fun with that; if you wanted a free to play, I'm sure everyone else running around with shit that they spent $100 real life cash on that you can't even get ingame via normal means is going to be enjoyable.
First of all, I doubt that. Secondly, even if that's the case, an option between spending $5 on something and spending a year getting the ingame cash for it is not an option and you know it. (Hyperbole, probably, but the point still stands.)
One last complaint: It's dubious at best that the item shop is advertised on the front page but you can't see what the exchange rate of real cash to their coin system is until you register. Granted, if I'm making this complaint, I'd be making it of all others who have the same practices, but I'm making it specifically in this case because of all the other things about this game that turn me off; hence I wouldn't register in the first place.
Oops...long post..P.S - I havent even mentioned how great the PvP is.
This may have changed-the initial announcement said that once you run out of stamina (and I was under the impression it didn't refill except once per day-the "helping the community" part aside) was that you got no experience for additional kills.
That is the part I viewed as stupid.
Having NPCs in my party doesn't count as having a character class.
Not being able to access any of the more advanced classes you note from the site tells me that either things have changed, in which case my review of it is no longer as valid (but in looking at the site it doesn't appear so), or that you can't tell enough about the game from the site to join, which is also stupid. But hey, they didn't have the cash shop up the last time I looked, so you never know.
I notice that in attempting to refute my arguments you told me you had the exact same views before you tried it.
Apparent flaws, even if they don't actually exist, do not encourage people to try a game. If everything about a game looks bad, what possible reason do I have to try it and find out (possibly) otherwise?
Also: Assasin/rogue is not archer.

i'd rather go back play eve, lol.
