If you guys like fantasy TBS then now is the perfect time to grab a copy of Fantasy Wars. It's only $7.99 at GamersGate. I've been wanting this forever, but was put off by the $30 price tag. $7.99 is just right! Not sure how long the sale lasts. Could be a weekend thing.
BTW, I picked up this info on Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Every weekend they scour the net for the weekend's greatest PC game download deals. I highly recommend checking it out:

Definitely gonna grab this and then Elven Legacy when it comes out....though for the latter I'll use Impulse.
The deal is for this weekend only. Last week it was King's Bounty for $10 so maybe they've got some kinda pattern going on here.
Elven Legacy is the sequel, you'd probably be better off either getting FW to see if you like the series, or getting EL next week.
Since I was interested in Elven Legacy, I recently downloaded the Fantasy Wars demo, since I understood the new game was pretty similar. I liked the demo, and thought I'd wait for the new game to be released this coming week, but when I saw this thread, I could not resist the $7.99 price and bought Fantasy Wars last night. Although the game downloaded without a hitch, I found that I needed to activate it before playing. And in the My Games section of GamersGate, where the serial numbers of all my other games reside, it says that the serial will be sent to me next week. I've bought many games on GG and this has never happened previously. While I generally like GG, and its owner Paradox, it's sort of annoying to buy a game and find out, after paying for it, that you can't play it yet.
Perhaps, But I'm generally crazy like that. I mean, I bought Dominions III without even feeling like playing the Demo---as my first TBS purchase. Besides, this is one awesome deal...and the game will surely have different scenarios and such compared to the sequel, story, etc.
Yeah, that happened to me too. I read somewhere that it has something to do with the high volume of sales over the weekends. I guess they must need to request more from the publisher or something. Definitely a bummer, but worth the wait for saving $22.
BTW, once you do get your serial you can go to the Fantasy Wars website and DL the map editor for free. Also, there are no patches either, just the editor.
To those who are still curious about the game: I've played through the demo twice and really enjoyed it. It's a very methodical, slow moving TBS that needs careful planning in order to master. It's a great change of pace from the HOMM style games that allow you to amass a huge army and steamroll opponents. Your units level up, so if you lose one it can really hurt. Probably the closest comparison I can think of gameplay-wise is the Fire Emblem games, if you've played those.
Steam ran out of Unreal and Rome Total War keys due to high demand during the holiday sale, so it's not unheard of...How is Gamersgate? Their website doesn't exude confidence in their service. Seems "second rate."
Seems really nice to me. The downloader was very simple and pretty fast. No interruptions or anything. I liked it.
