Hi! everyone, I have a simple question, what was the first PC game that you have played and loved?
For me it was Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty.
It was way back in 1993 (cant believe its been already 16 years) on my IBM 486 with all 4MB of ram. Since that time I have played over a 100 PC games, but I was wondering what was other people's gaming debut. Feel free to elaborate on the subject (what year, at home, at a friend, how much you paid).
Same.
My first game PC game would have to be Jane's WWII Fighters.
The first one I owned would be Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, but I got it for Christmas. That was also my first online game, and I can't count the hours I spent playing it. Still have it and every once in a while I'll play it again.
my first PC game that I played-
Battlefield Vietnam. Followed by 1942, Call of Duty 4 (<- CoD4 kinda sucked for me), Dune 2000 (<- classic RTS game IMO), SoaSE, Entrenchment, and hopefully Diplomacy.
In the PC vs Console war. PC won early with me. Once I got my hands on Ultima III, I forgot all about my Intellivision. Although the Intellivision's speech module was pretty sweet Loved playing "B17 Bomber"
P.S. Zubaz I feel your pain.
My first game was Dough Boy on a C64 it was pretty cool but the first game to which I lost hours of time was probably Lords of Conquest also on a C64 thus began my addiction to strategy gaming.
My first game was "Simcity" and my second was "X-COM - UFO Defence", the best strategy game of all time...
Oh man there's some good games in here.
Excluding consoles (atari, intellivision)
My first PC was a commy 64 and my first program was Fast Hack 'em which prompted the borrowing of multiple games.
So i would have to say the first one was probably Jumpman Jr but the first one i really remember loving was Bards Tale (not to discount Zork and others)
Some great mentions in this thread, shadow of the beast, Dune, Master of Magic, eye of the beholder and one of my all time favs Deus Ex.
Nice to see other old folk in here as well
j
wow.. first computer game..
2nd grade, on my coursin's kit built pc back in europe, some race game where you had to drive through a randomly generated maze that he spent a day typing in from some magazine. I remember the keys were wobbly and you could see the circutboard he had soldered beneath it and your car was a red blinking square in a maze of squares with a green square that was the goal.
First commercial PC.. would be Parsec for the ti-99 and dude it TALKED!
IBM pc - the classic F-19 in glorious monochrome green.
Ah the days when we said that if we EVER get 256 colors on the screen at 640x480 (SVGA) the evolution of gaming would surely be at it's pinnacle.
Besides solitaire ?
Must be either jazz jackrabbit or earthworm jim or the fisrt duke nukem ( the 2d side scrolling)
Zoo tycoon, was and still is an awesome game (even more so with the add-ons)
Sim City 2000, age of empires
Sub hunt on my dad's mac. then some version of a golf game and castle wolfenstein-- on an old 386.
LEISURE SUIT LARRY IN THE LAND OF THE LOUNGE LIZARDS !!!
PONG... yes it was PONG.
gahhh pc... umm...
it was MYST

we only got our first pc in 1993.
The first games I recall playing are one of those Indiana Jones games on DOS and Crystal Caves, also for DOS. I the first one that I'd really say was my own was Civilization II. I can't imagine a better game to start off with.
First PC game was Kings Quest back in the day
SSI's Pool of Radiance. Dungeons and Dragons Gold Box series were AWESOME. I was 14 (25 years ago). It was a Commodore 64 computer.
1st: on ZX Spectrum 48k
- Ballbreaker
1st on PC (IBM 386)
- Paratrooper
I would have to say Cosmic Cruncher on the Vic 20 , then nibbles from qbasic. Now there was a fun game. First game I bought was Duke Nukem 1. Good times. Commander Keen wasn't half bad, either.
My very first PC game I played was called "Fly swatter" it was on the GIANT floppys... Like the ones the size of your head floppy. You had to trap "flies" (green/blue) with your "fly swatter" (Red pixels). Every hit left a red X that you or the fly couldn't go and you had to trap flies in between these X's... I was contemplating finding that and seeing if there is any possible way to play it now... Oh well... And first PC game I bought was.. Either Star Wars Tie Fighter, or Doom. I just remember Jocky-ing 13 floppys for original install, and another 8 for the "Empire strikes back" expansion.. That game was sick.
Wolfenstein 3D, at the young age of 3. Ahh, those were the times, when floppies were actually floppy and your graphic cards didn't have more RAM than the computer itself.
Anybody remember Colecovision? My cousin had one of those. I had an Atari. Can't remember what my first game was; probably missile command but I can barely remember. Got my own computer about a year ago and I think my first game was SupCom or SOSE. Either way, great first pc game but talk about getting in late in the game huh? I remember staying at a friends house playing the original Doom into the wee hours.
Well I played Donkey Kong,
but the first one I really remember and liked was
Ultima 7 - The Black Gate
Xcom - UFO Defense
Syndicate
Master of Magic
Transport Tycoon Deluxe
Master of Orion 1 & 2
Xcom - TFTD
Ultima Online
Syndicate wars
I Think it was in this order, then there were some SNES games and stuff in there like Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger and a few others of that type.
The first pc game or games I played were Telengard(Top down maze game with monster to kill and treasure to collect-just one in a long line of DnD inspired pc games), Battle of Midway where you are in controll of American fleet of ships and carrier launched planes(Think it was text based graphics 2 colors blue and white), Adventure, and Might and Magic.
If you talk arcade games then probably Asteroids or Space Invaders.
I've never owned a console, however a couple years ago I tried Xbox(great for young kids).
