Hi! everyone, I have a simple question, what was the first PC game that you have played and loved?
For me it was Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty.
It was way back in 1993 (cant believe its been already 16 years) on my IBM 486 with all 4MB of ram. Since that time I have played over a 100 PC games, but I was wondering what was other people's gaming debut. Feel free to elaborate on the subject (what year, at home, at a friend, how much you paid).
Whats with the necromancy?
Hmmm. Old topic, but I'll post anyway; my first real PC game that I actually loved and didn't just like would have to have been Dawn of War, the original. Seriously; I'm that young.

My first PC game.......damn this is close.
Well, my first memories of playing a PC game would be competing with my Dad on Pharaoh(And Cleopatra Expansion) to see who could build the better cities. I always made the mistake of growing armies and killing things while my citizens starve and huts burn down, meanwhile my father turns egypt into a sprawling Metropolis with 0% Crime, Famine, Hunger, War, add to that the fact that my lousy Pharoah never built a pyramid.....
Second would by Fallout 1. No need for explanation of awesomeness.
Im not sure anymore, maybe freddy fish and the stolen ... (I fail to remember what was stolen, lol) maybe, putt putt saves the zoo, or maybe it was the wish who could wish (I think that last one only exist in the Netherlands but I am not sure). needless to say I started playing on pc at a pretty young age.
My first pc rts was age of empires (part 1) and my first shooter was halo (also part 1).
I know this forum is an older topic. I was looking for info about the Killer Crayon game and came across this Forum and wanted to add to it.
At my uncle's house I remember playing video poker, but once we got a computer I remember that flight simulator game, a operation simulator game (my patient never made it) and Commander Keen.
i've seen commander keen since, you can buy the series online, but the flight and operation simulators I can't remember the names so makes them hard to find. I would also like that Crayon game.
I'm not that old so if you exclude Math Blaster, then Warcraft II.
My first computer game was Lunar Lander for the Apple II. The first game I played on a PC was Commander Keen.
1980-1981 apple//+ "temple of Apahai" (spelling?).
Later, when PC software began really outnumbering apple / trs (TSR?) 80 / commodore platforms, played "Wizardry" - still remember clearing the dungeon down to level 4, and opening the door to the "Monster Allocation Center." Tsunami anyone?
And the Bishop bug/exploit... bishop was a dual classed character that had some cleric and some mage skills. occasionally, if the bishop character successfully identified an 'unknown' item, massive amounts of experience would be awarded - like 10+ levels worth. Then it was on to Lord British...

The first PC game I ever played, that I remember the name of, was a floppy of 5 text adventures in the early 80s that included:
As my age at the time was in the single digits, I never actually beat any of those games.
The first PC game I ever owned (bought for me) was:
I honestly don't remember the first PC game I ever purchased but the earliest game I remember purchasing was:
The first pc game I played? I don't remember. The first I played and loved? Doom, or was it Doom II? But that was on a friend's computer. Dune II came later (computer at school) but was absolutely an instant love affair. I was hooked on RTS from that moment.
On my own PC, the first games I played and loved were The Settlers 2, The Need for Speed, Transport Tycoon and SimCity 2000. I name them all in one go because I got them all at the same time (a little after I first played Dune II).
I don't remember which one I played first. It's one of these:
Prince of Persia
Star Control
Or maybe it was some kind of little asteroids game.
The very first game I remember playing on the PC was Might & Magic II in '87 or '88. It was on a Tandy 1000 with 16 color monitor lol.
Some of my very first games on that Tandy were Crescent Hawk's Inception (Battletech), Master Ninja, Demon's Forge, and one other title I can't remember. You played a caveman after a nuclear war that had to get a battlesuit.
My first PC game was Roller coaster tycoon when i was in second grade. Was mostly a nintendo gamer when i was a kid unlike my cousins. But the first Pc game i ever bought with my own money was Starcraft. I wanna say i was a freshman in high school at the time. Half a year later I picked up Galciv 2... after my cousin convinced me to buy Civilizations 3. Guess the space setting stuck with me
Parsec on the TI-99
My first PC game that i loved.... hmmm well there were several games that i used to love on my first ever computer which was an Amiga 2000. For those that don't already know.... you may have heard of the famous Commodore 64 but it is unlikely you will have ever heard of an Amiga, i never did, not in the media, not in magazines, not a whisper. Only found out about Amiga when my friend introduced me to it. I said "what the hells an Amiga" and with those words i unwittingly defined the very reason why the Amiga computer brand failed!
Anyway, the three games i loved were Hybris, golf and Speedball 2, but i cannot remember which one i played first?
I had the big 4 early PC games for me would have to be Master of Orion, XCom, Doom 1, and Warcraft (1) Orcs and Humans. Duke3D was pretty good too.
- Edit - MechWarrior 2 was also really good. I had a Commodore 64, but I never really liked playing anything on it. All I remember playing on it at all was Defender and DigDug. We had a lot of stuff for it, but I never got attached. It wasn't until I got my 486 DX2 66mhz with 64k RAM with maybe 600k of hard drive space that I really got into PC gaming.
Planetfall and loved Lode Runner on C-64.
I think it was Doom. That started it all.
I'm pretty sure my first PC game was UFO: Enemy Unknown on an Amiga.
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego by broderbund.
First? I'm not sure, but Lode Runner has high chances to be first, or, at least, among first. I simply do not remember, sorry.
