Greetings All!
Throughout my time here playing and modding the game I have become quite knowledgeble in the overall aspects of the game and modding the game as a whole. While I learn stuff everyday, I feel like I can teach and answer questions as well. People have helped me along the way, so this is my way of giving back to the community. So, if you have a question that you think I may know an answer to, feel free to post and I will reply whatever I know. Feel free to ask about anything about the game, modding, or anything else in general, my head is full of useless facts and knowledge. I have played most Space/Sci-fi games, love fantasy games (like Oblivion and NWN) watch just about every Sci-Fi & Fantasy TV show, and have a deep knowledge of science and history, especially ancient history. I have a Marketing and Sales background, with a specialization in graphics and art. I also know modeling programs, but use 3D MAX specifically for modding.
So, I leave it up to you, the modding and gaming community. I will be listening....
DANMAN
Both. I'll help support where I can. So with DanMan Games, supporting 7DS right now, and other mods under the DanMan Games and 7DS umbrellas.
hi
i tried to make ship invisible, but i couldnt... i think there is a hardcode limit or what... the phaseout doesnt make the ships/mines invisible, just foggy... did you, danman or someone else make the ships truly invisible?
Hey Dan here's a quick question I wanna throw out there, are you thinking of adding something to the mod that'll make battles more interesting and seem more real? like instead of static ships shooting at each other, their moving around. I recently looked at Manshooters Dynamic Battle System mod and thought it would be a great addition to add into deadly sins. I so wanna see a fleet of Atlantian ships moving around screen and blowing up enemy ships. the current static battles... seem... boring after a while
Sadly it is not possible at this time. It is a hard code that many people are fighting. Perhaps if you made it permenant, this may be possible, as it would be coded to the model of the ship. But an ability that "cloaks" the ship completely does not yet work.
YES! This is currently in the works for version 2.5 as I upgrade to Entrenchment and unlock those abilities. So yes, soon you will have Atlantian Athena and Aether ships flying around the gravity well like attack craft, bringing their full weapons to bear while they evade fire!
Awesome can't wait then, I look forward to drooling over my Atlantian ships flying around and making dust fields out of enemy ships
Heheheheheeee.....me too! It will be awesome, and finally some other mods like Star Trek will be able to come to their full glory with the Defiant and other ships zooming about like they should, instead of just lining up and pounding each other.
Will you consider keeping 7DS on vanilla Sins if useful modding features are backported from Entrenchment?
i don't want to sound snobby or anything and it takes time to update a mod, especially one as big as 7DS, but when will 7DS 2.5 come out?
So Im trying the get the Celestal bodies mod into Gal forge to make some theme maps. Specificly Honorverse and Stars at War maps. I copied the icons to the icon folder. I put the galaxySenerioDef file in the Gal forge file. With no success. How do I get it to work? Any help would be awsome.
I answered that question Dark on the forum a few minutes ago.
Im just wonderin how to add a planet to a mod. I copyed all the mesh, texture and entity info. I also added it to the galaxyScenarioDef. I added the black hole from you're Solar Sins mod into Celestial Bodies mod. The star does'nt show up in the game.
And i would like to know how to add the star in this case, to the string file.
Also how to convert .dds files into .jpg so i can alter them using the paint program.
I saw the Celestial Bodies mod and wanted to add some of the new planets to 7DS. Unfortunaly, it is for sins 1.15. Can you tell me how to convert it to 1.05?
Any help would be apreciated.
Also, 7DS 2.5 will only be for entrenchment?
The Planets should convert just fine. Its the ships and the particle stuff i think.
Why did you decide to have the Rouge LHD need to be researched instead of being available off the bat?
I do have a question, and I have done a search but couldnt find anything on it, but how do you mod the gravity well of a planet? This has been bugging me for a while, would like to be able to put structures and defenses further out...
BlacShade
Well, i have been able to do this but, using a reacherche um called gravitywell decrease or something like that. I used it so that my ship from my very own race would be able to jump from praticly anywere in the gravity well nearly right beside the planets. So u can just mod that reacherce to increase rather than deacrese. Um but ya im sure Danman can awnser this one.
Anyhow this is a exelent forum i have learned a great deal on matters that ive been scratching my head with. Great idea Danman.
Akkan117.
waiting for 2.5...any update on a possible release date?
BlacShade, you can change the size of gravity wells, phase jump limits and build limits in the planet .entity files. Look for MoveareaRadius and HyperspaceexitRadius lines.
Thanks, appreciate your help
Ah, well I can change the phase jump and move areas. but havent been able to change the buildable area with the MoveareaRadius and HyperspaceexitRadius lines. Is there another line I am missing?
No, your not missing anything, your just not looking in the right place. If you open the GameInfo folder in the sins directory or what ever mod your using there should be a file in there called "Gameplay". Open it in Notepad and there will be a bunch of lines. Find these lines and change the values of the highlighted ones:
PlanetData allegiancePassiveGainRate 0.000347222 allegiancePassiveLossRate -0.000347222 allegianceFriendlyMaxGainRate 0.000694444 allegianceEnemyMaxLossRate -0.000694444 allegianceGainFromCultureMax 0.1 startingPopulationPercOfMax 0.5 healthOnColonize 200.0 healthRegenRatePercWhenBombed .000 nearPlacementDistOffset 0 farPlacementDistOffset 9000 placementRadiusOffset 100
IMPORTANT: This should work, but just in case make a back-up copy of this file first. Note: this will change for all planet types.
hope this helps.
Soasertsus
Sorry I have been away for awhile, REAL LIFE and stuff with the 7DS mod and the new website have had me busy. Also, it seems like I have a few people here who know a thing or too (THANKS MANSH00TER!!!!) and you too soasertus!
Ok, now on to some other answers for you all
7DS 2.5 will be for Entrenchment only I am afraid. There is no more room in the other version for me to expand 7DS any further as I have nearly hit all the limits which Entrenchment may break down. Plus, the code is really different for Entrenchment, and I only want to convert all my files one time. And Entrenchment is really nice, and it will be the only way you guys will be able to use my new Galactic Sins mod (coming soon!)
So, about the Galaxy Forge, make sure you are using the right version for the version of the game you have. That makes a big difference. Secondly, instead of making your own Galaxyforge folder/program, just put all the Galaxyforge files into the main Sins folder, or the folder of the mod you are using. Then the program will use those files, and you should be good to go.
If that doesn't work, let me know, and I will bring out the big guns....
And I don't think that Ironclad will backport anything guys....sorry. They want to make money of course, as we all do. So Entrenchment is needed for the future of 7DS. In order to achieve my dream, I need that engine to make it work.
Version 2.5 of 7DS should be done in a few weeks hopefully. I am going through the cap/Titans right now.
You need a DDS plugin for Photoshop or another graphic program. Then you can open them.
In order to encourage "stealing" a colony vessel. It changes the entire way the Rogue are played. Before, I did not even give them a colony ship. This is a little less harsh.
Keep in mind that in Entrenchment, resizing a gravity well automatically resizes the buildable area as well, so you no longer can edit those in the Gameinfo file as before.
sorry to ask my question again but no-one ever answered it....
is there a release date for version 2.5 of 7ds??
