As you might know, we announced that Stardock will be giving away a custom built gaming PC worth over $4000 to the millionth Impulse customer. I was told the specs, and I’m just in awe of what an awesome machine this is.
I wanted to share the specs of the gaming PC just to give you a taste. I will update the post once we get some pictures taken.
Custom Built:
Whoever ends up with this, is going to be one lucky gamer.
Very, very nice. So this goes to the new customer #1,000,000 or can any of us who buy something win?
*drool*
Hummm... Brads old computer perhaps?
How many Impulsers are there now?
That's what I've been trying to find out since they posted about this yesterday. All the thread titles say user, some content says user, others says customer. No direction on what type of customer...completly new customer or the millionth person to buy something from Impulse, implying that all of us have a chance at it.
Wow, that's quite a work horse
12GB RAM? I'll never get used to how odd the amount of RAM gets with 6 slots for memory.
Completely new customer only.
This sums it up: >LINK<
yeah yeah whats the dealio?
No it doesn't, read #31, #32 and then #35. WTF?
I thinks it is for SOASE where as it's a sale of 500k++ and going up
So what about the rest of us? The ones who helped you get to 1,000,000 in the first place?
Ugh... You're right... Not definite anyway... Oh well...
I intend to build my own, something like that. Except with the Nvidia graphics card, latest, and possibly liquid cooling. Including a motherboard capable of overclocking. I have most of my list finished for it, just need to get the funds then.
Thing about the Intel 7I CPU is that you really don't need it for gaming. Games are not programmed to take advantage of it properly. You're only going to be getting a bare few extra frames from it when running Crysis (I blame Crysis for this though, it had shoddy coding), but excellent for multi-media editing purposes. It's like buying a really fast car that would require you to break the law and being insane to actually use it properly. Although it's something to last you for a long time, no doubt.
The AMD cards is a good idea, getting the most out of your PC at a fairly cheap price. Again, Nvidia is better, but your not going to be using it fully at any time for any game out there. I refer again to the fast-car example.
If you want a powerful gaming rig, without the flash of a fast car, an AMD high end CPU and AMD Radeon graphics is what you'll want. Also, spend the extra for a 2 ms refresh rate on a wide-screen. You may be sacrificing an enormous scree, but nowadays you can get a fairly big screen with a 2 ms refresh rate, which prevents ghosting and allows you to wear 3-D glasses. I'd say the nerdgasmic experience is worth it.
oh, as a longtime stadockcentral and impulsecustomer I feel cheated and dirty...
thanks a lot stardock!
Still surprised by the lack of a definate answer from SD on who is eligable.
Best i can get is a new customer, so new email nick, and that that person buys something.
Does that include retail bought items that are regged under a new customer?
Too many grey area's.
And oh yeah...I want that PC!!
It seems awfully clear to me....and I was asleep on the other side of the world [my side, obviously] when this was announced.
What's so hard about - being the 1 millionth registered user of Impulse who has purchased something with Impulse?
OK...the hard bit is...it won't be me....
...but acually what it all means is...I'm happy for Stardock's/Impulse's success....and for whomever is the lucky 1 millionth...
That right there was never said Jafo...until you said it. Now I'm clear.
That customer is getting rewarded for what 999'999 previous customers has achieved, it takes the joy out of this otherwise really great event.
In the Op comment....in this thread.
in this one.... https://forums.wincustomize.com/343545
And probably elsewhere as well...
OK, so it's just the three words...but what they add up to is ---- millionth [person to register and use] Impulse [to purchase something and thus be a] customer.
'tisn't hard, honest....
This is like the Cell phone company giving crazy deals on a cool phone to new customers. The loyal customers can pay full price and jam it up where the sun doesn't shine. Ah marketing, why take care of the ones you already have. Obviously, they can't give everyone a $4000 PC, but why give one at all. Give the one millionth customer a few free My Color themes, or equivalent. $4000 PC is extravegant. This just leaves a bad taste.
QFT. There were about 3 conflicting sides to the coin. What you quoted was not the only story given.
Gets confuing when 3 different people tell us three different things. who is to know what is true or not.
<rant>It sure looks like a lot of people are upset over such a little thing. I suspect it's just the vocal minority, but here's a thought.
Why would anyone feel cheated because of a giveaway like this? Does some random person getting something affect you somehow? Did you not get value for money when you made your purchase? Talk about a sense of entitlement.
If you want the same chance of winning this machine as this random unknown does, just download Impulse under a new name and email and buy something. Problem solved. There's no guarantee though. You'll only have the same chance as anyone else.
You might also want to complain about some random person winning the lottery. Sucks to be you, huh? </rant>
Other thoughts - Congrats to whomever wins the machine. And congrats to Stardock for reaching this milestone.
At last....the voice of reason....
Jafo posts some Karma points...
No, I don't. I wouldn't be a new customer. And you're actually condoning fraud by suggesting this.
Not at all the same thing, I can buy a lottery ticket too.
Someone will be getting a $4000 computer because I was one of 999'998 other people who bought something from impulse.... Yes, I think it's wrong, minority or not.
Aye but it makes be wonder, that that millionth customer might not want the computer, they might not even know that they're competing. Maybe they're an office user who wants windowblinds and has no need for a big gaming rig Better have a raffle
