The expanse of the northern pole region lay out before the obsidian palace of the Chaplain-Court. Jannat al'-Adn, as it is known, is nothing like the eden spread across the surface of New Ravion. It's surface, riddled with the signs of volcanic activity, appears flash-frozen as if stopped at the moment of activity. Icy arcs exist in the place of magma surges; dense gases from geysers are ceased in mid air. This cold environment of dying, made in the image of the Emperor, will kill anyone attempting to travel through it's frozen mazes.
Firaeon rested against the barricades in the wake of an open roof. He stared inquisitively at the surrounding lands, before turning to Cere, the Judge Magister of Earth;
Cere said to Firaeon: "This new world, this Messiana, what is it like? Are there cities and forests of pardon, as we are told, or is it shifted to a darker period. Am I welcome there, or will I appear as but an illusion and fall with time. Do they follow our faith, or is their judgement yet to come, brother."
So Firaeon thought about this, and said: "It is surely shifted to chaos, as their gates never opened for many. You will be praised and worshiped there as it's legacy commands. Their Korbanot burns their skin, they will never know their Third Temple, as they say they will. It is lost forever and they will never know it again. If we stay faithless, we will fall and it will exterminate us, and we must yet descend into the Divine Comedy for Heofon."
WARNING: This may not make much sense, but there are loads of references to religion here (It's not finished either).
The Undying.
what about being able to disassemble and reassemble machines (mentally, not anywhere near strong enough to use in battle), as well as short range remote viewing (about three-four feet)? would htat work, or would that be a higher level?
That would be about level 3 or 4. Maybe even 5.
I've come up with equations for showing the chronological age of Saiv depending on their position within their bio-oligarchy.
For example, if the biological age of a middle-class Saiv was 26, their chronological age would be 26 * 2 = 52. In Firaeon's case, his biological age is 17, so his chronological age is 17 * 500 = 8,500
"I bring new orders Mephisto."
"Oh?"
"Yes, it seems that the Styrka Clan has proceeded with a massive attack resulting in the loss of Nova Toya and other major planets in several nations. Also it seems that the Gatekeepers have struck as well. You, Atlantis, and I have been tasked with liberating the Nova Toya system and then proceeding to capture Gratsta.
I have had a small fleet assigned to us to assist, and we have the Andromeda keeping an eye on the Illuminati craft engaging each other near V'Tar."
"Where are we linking up with our fleet?"
"We meet in orbit of Nova Toya. Jumping now"
In case you wondered the red is Morpheus, the blue-green is Atlantis, and the blue is Mephisto
4733
Despite the success of the V'taren counterattack on Nova Toya, the Styrka Clan still continues to press onwards. The Ildamon Coreguard is folding under the advance of clan forces with the fall of Nodhan, and President-general Okrossbar has even decided to invade the core worlds of the Yaarg Corp.
(note: I think I switched the intelligence and athleticism stats by accident. putting them proper... the Ashi stats are now:
strength 3dexterity 6 loyalty 5athleticism 3intelligence 5divinity 2adaptability 6)
then the Ashi are, simply put, lucky. things flying at them have a tendency to miss, they tend to not have accidents, and things left to chance generally go their way.
(Ashi description)
The Ashi (now known as Yaarg Corp), since they invented Starships have taken easily to technology and weapons design. This was helped along by the periodic civil wars that broke out in the Sultanate's early years. following the Cataclysm, also known as the Apocalypse, they lapsed into a technological Dark Age. It was not long, however, before they began to emerge, using the relics of the past left by their ancestors to jump start their technology. The Dark Age still leaves its mark on their present-day tech, in the form of plain steel swords, combustion projectile weapons, and even a rare crossbow. Most of their military fleet is salvaged and refitted old Ashi ships, and their civilian fleet is mainly low-tech cargo ships and other merchants armed with usually but a single autocannon. The occasional convoys will always be well-guarded by merchants armed to the teeth with magnetic accelerator cannons and short-range missiles.
Their individual strength and lack of numbers makes them familiar with shadow ops, generally avoiding open conflict.
Strengths
The Ashi are technologically gifted, having strong minds that take well to learning foreign technology and inventing new tech. This means they are individually powerful, if few, as the combat troops' armor is enhanced with motorized joints and their weaponry is superior to most. The Ashi squads are highly independent combat units given loose goals, their adaptability, loyalty, and improvisation skills getting them through.
Weaknesses
They are few in number, although always searching for ways to strengthen what few population they have. They are weak without their technology, and hate actual physical exertion. all of their stations are low-gravity, and their in-ship gravity is about .4 Gs. (1 G=1 Earth Gravity, so something 100lbs on earth would be 40 lbs on an Ashi ship) so most of the Ashi race cannot withstand high gravity, limiting them to orbit in most diplomatic exchanges.
What's the Andromeda?
I hate you. Considering it's so difficult to convey feelings across a forum, I'll have to verify that statement as a joke and finish it with a smiley.
Well, here it is:
The Shade
An entirely mythological race of death-gods worshipped zealously by the Saiv race, their mortal descendants. They are believed to have lived in the hidden universe refered to as Ðeredhad*, after their exile from the Celestial Realm and before their mysterious self-destruction. From their plasma-thin energy cities, they had absolute power to determine the death of mortals in other universes. They are little more than hypnotic mirages to mortals, but they are often viewed as tall, pale skinned humanoids cloaked in black. They are also sometimes shown with a long curved canine protruding from their left jaw. Sav Sabiel, absent Emperor of the Saiv, and Ἀποκάλυψις**, his supposed son and leader of the Second Shade, are the only two Shade believed still alive. The current state of these two is unknown.
*Modified version of the german word 'dereidheid', meaning 'withering'.**Greek for 'apocalypse' and 'lifting of the veil', refering to Ἀποκάλυψις's abrubt theological revolution and betrayal of his father.
Heres how the Yaarg corp. came to be.
a long time ago when the ashi had a large confediracy highly iclaimed for its trade a cold cival war started when a new trade company came to be as the confediracy expanded and made this new corp the Yaarg corp it became the most powerful in this war but New maal was just as strong as them so it became a cold war(war where only small battles are fought bcuz if a big battle acoured both sides could annialate each other)then in this time of crisis different factions desided they were easy to attack making there area of control smaller both sides decide the only way to keep the race alive was to team sides uder complete control everyone part of the Yaarg corp. They then fended the enemy off,and now this is how they ended up.
Sybertronic.
1st the Ashi ended the civil wars, if slowly, unifying into one single homogeneous entity. They decided a corporate government would be the most profitable course of action, and set one up.
Yaarg Corp rose on its ability to quickly locate and refit ancient ships, giving them the most powerful fleet of the corporations. they then proceeded to both buy and extort stock from the major shareholders of the governmental companies, thus absorbing them once Yaarg possessed a controlling interest. eventually it grew to have a controlling interest in all governmental companies, ensuring its dominion over the Ashi race
that's what I had in mind, for the post-chaos history, as little is recorded or Pre- and during-Chaos history, most of the records being destroyed.
The Shadow of Intent dropped out of hyper in Cybrate space, hugging the Ascendant Justice. The Justice immediately disappeared from the Intent's DRADUS scope. The Intent quickly began moving away from its counterpart, two tugs docked in its hangar.
On the bridge of the Intent, the sensors officer shouted out, "Multiple DRADUS contacts, four hundred thousand kilometers out! Signatures register as... Illumati ships. They appear to be in an engagement."
"They should be focused on each other, then. That will help us slip away. It should also make our job easier. Notify me if the situation changes. Navigation, take us to point Alpha. Comms, prepare to send a high frequency pulse, calling all V'taren military forces nearby to assist."
"Aye, sir"
"Immediately,"
The Intent stopped a few hundred kilometers from the battle, watching the two sides tear each other's ships.
"transmit pulse in 3...2...1... Mark!"
"Pulse transmitted, sir."
The sensors officer studied the display for a moment, then said, "Four V'taren brainships are on their way."
"Transmit the coordinates of the nearest brainship, as well as present velocity to Ascendant Justice. Operation Genesus has begun."
"Roger that sir. information transmitted."
a few moments passed, and then the comms officer reported, "Justice reports they have made pickup and are preparing to depart the system."
"Prepare to do the same. We don't want to be around to answer questions when the other-"
"Sir, we just recieved a top-priority message from Command. The Styrka clan has invaded, and we and the Justice are to proceed to the Styrka occupied territory and begin raiding immediately after dropping off our cargo."
"Forward to the Justice and plot a jump course," Tal'anth said, thinking for a moment.
"Yes, sir."
"Aye, sir."
Okay, if the Quiver can't be a carrier, can it be a battleship?
Samurye.
Nnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyes. No. Yes. I can't decide. I'll have to shake the Eight-ball of Fates.
*Shake* *Shake*
'YES'
So yes. It's good it picked either yes or no, because the other options are quite terrifying.
You'll have to rethink this, since the theme requires the annihilation of virtually all traces of the past. The only pieces left would be shards of metal and spacedust.
Most races in the universe no longer remember the identity of their race, instead using a new denonym e.g. Ashi » Yaarg, Flaming Ninja » Gatekeeper, Vetaron » V'tari/V'taren etc. However, human culture was so widespread before the Cataclysm that (probably specific to this galaxy) they still refer to themselves as humans. Out of the whole galaxy, the Styrka Clan territories contain the highest concentration of relics from the culture of the Golden Age, especially on Evertha.
BTW, to explain why it's snowing on Gateway, '80% of all dust is human skin'. More accurately it's a natural phenomenon, where the dead skin (now dust) of the extinct Tau'ri race has formed into fake snow with all it's properties, but it's impossible to know that now. So many Tau'ri were killed by the Cataclysm that it's been snowing from that fated moment right up until the present day, and it still continues.
I could give you one ruined ship on your homeworld, and maybe a few other ruined ships scattered in former Ashi territory... Eight-ball of Fates (EBF), should I do it?
'DESTROY TIME'
Ok im a little concerned about this "Operation Genesis" thing.
The Andromeda is one of the larger cruisers at 5 miles in length. Shes not one of my major characters so im not going to go too far into her history.
*in Yoda Voice* you should be...
I just wanted to make sure that she wouldn't be a threat to the Yaarg ships (nearly submitted "ashi" instead of Yaarg. still not used to that) but I found a workaround.
as for the eight ships... I think I can work with that. I've only mentioned for sure the Ascendant Justice, the Infinite Sacrifice, and the Shadow of Intent as being salvaged.
Don't thank me, thank the EBF!
EBF, what caused the Cataclysm?
'DONTPROVOKEME'
Okay, Jesus Christ, I was just asking...
EBF, are you the eight-ball from Toy Story?
'NO'
Ask it a question and I'll shake it for you.
Kaen: "GET DOWN!!"
*Kaen pulls his ally away from the imminent shell landing, throwing him into the bunker before turning to face the speeding projectile.*
Kaen: "Number 27, Ruhniren!"
*After raising his hand and blurting out a spell, Kaen's hand becomes engulfed in white fog. The shell explodes into smithereens almost at real time, each fragment flying harmlessly away from the bunker.*
Wale: "Don't you ever try to save my life again."
Kaen: "Looks like I don't have a choice. We've got company."
*Out of the smoke from shellfire came a sprinting legion of warriors, covered from head to toe in blue-tinted angular armor and capes, their faces concealed by freaky iron masks, and armed with tall curved swords. They moved silently in perfect formation, preparing to descend on the bunker full of frightened conscripts. The glowing tronian bullets from the LikerGuard guns simply dissipated on their armor. They were Valkyries.*
Wale: "The Valkyrie elite? What are they doing here?"
Kaen: "I don't think we'll get a chance to ask them. They're going to cut off our escape route if we don't take them out. Drop the rifle."
Wale: "My favourite kind of war. This is how it's done, conscripts."
*Wale and Kaen jump out of the bunker and charge straight at the Valkyries with sword at hand. While the majority of the Valkyries continue their pace and direction, a nearby group break off and charge at Wale and Kaen. The first Valkyrie raises his blade to strike, only to have his blade broken by Wale's superior strength and finished by Kaen's agility. As the group closes on them, Kaen draws his pistol and shoots a leaping Valkyrie between the eyes with pinpoint accuracy, before swinging his sword in an arc to decapitate the three warriors in front of him. Wale weaves bloodily through an approaching column in less than a second, turning with a smug smile to see his opponents topple to the ground, groaning their last. Despite the casualties they inflict, the duo eventually regroup to find themselves hopelessly surrounded and outnumbered. In defiance, they cling even tighter to their swords.*
Wale: "Vårt blad kommer inte svika dig..."
*Almost consecutively, a gap appears in the wall of Valkyries. It suddenly starts to rain heavily for some unknown reason, cloaking the man revealed by the gap, now a grey sillhouette with the outline of a short and wide-brimmed tophat on his head.*
Mr. Q: "Failure? No my sons, your service has just begun."
To be continued!
Witherbreak
The term 'Witherbreak' refers to any of a series of spells that draw their power from the raw will of dead Shade. Each spell is given a number and a name e.g. Number 27, Ruhniren that a caster must speak to activate the magic, as well as having an etherically suitable body, even though no ether from the caster is consumed. In the Saiv Empire, use and knowledge of the magic is restricted to the military aristocracy, the Second Shade, the Chaplain-Court and other such paramilitary organisations. Even then it is used as a backup power, mainly because the number of spells that can be cast in total is limited by the number of Shade in Deredhad, and also because the white fog that appears during casting has been known to cause minor burns - excessive use has been known to incinerate the caster's hand. Knowledge of the spell is particularly sparse in the galaxy, originally introduced by rogue Saiv Judges and Inquisitors. Witherbreaks (or Witherbreakers, as users are known) can be more powerful than any other spell; in particular Number 1, a theoretical spell and long-sought knowledge believed capable of destroying half the multiverse.
tip: black text = bad viewing on SoaSE page. if you don't touch the color, then it will automatically switch colors between black and white for each site.
Should be fixed now.
I was really hoping for a bit more reception towards the plot twist...
THIS STORY RULES!!!
doesn't help that much when you use Icelandic (?) w/o a translation.
and "My sons" kind of makes sense. I mean, Mr. Q is like a god, and the Illumati are very close to the gods
Story? this is more of an RP
SWEET! RP..any way I can join in? A liberated slave...a Vasari Exile (Drizzt Do 'Urden reference)..a TEC plumber (LOOOOL) turned commander after his superiors were killed in action!
it's not quite in the Sins setting, it's more of... a custom one.
i.e. Athena Stealth Cruisers, Darksaber II Assault ships, Timewrights, etc.
