Hi, just wanted to drop this on the forum, as many people have had issues with the latest version of Object dock plus having non working start menu and sys tray functions, in Vista x64.
I know many have fixed it by installing SDC, removing objectdock and installing the "old" beta version.
Anyway, after some investigation with the beta I have found the relevant files that you can just drop into your current ObjectDock installation folder and get those functions back, without the hasle of SDC client and reinstalls etc.
It consists of replacing the .exe, and 2 dll's, and adding 2 new dll's from the beta client (no dll registration required) these are from object dock plus, as thats what i have, dont know if it will work with the free version but you can try !
close objectdock plus down, replace the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock, and then restart your PC.
BEFORE YOU REPLACE THE FILES, RENAME OR BACKUP YOUR ORIGINALS, so you can revert if it gets screwed up.
(this has been edited, I cannot host the files due to licence and redistribution, my post below includes a list of the files to replace)

Generally speaking probably not a great idea to pull exe's and dll's down from somewhere and drop them into your programs...
Maybe, doesnt matter anyway, as I have taken them down, as I realise its against stardocks licence terms to re-distribute any part of there software.
However, if you want to still do this fix, here is a list of the files to pull out of the beta version, and put into the current release, closing objectdock plus, replacing files and then restart, and backing up the originals still applies.
I realise this maybe no better than installing the previous beta release, but I thought i would throw it out there anyway.
ObjectDock.exe
StartMenuPosition.dll
StartMenuPosition64.dll
StardockTray.dll
StardockTray64.dll
Ah, ya, then there would be that...
Anyway thanks for posting the workaround info though.
thx for the info, but where can i find the files, if not from installing an old beta from sdc?
You're not 'supposed' to as they're not for distribution apparently.
You'd think the lazy bastards at Stardock would fix the program for those of us (many) who use OD with x64 systems. Of course they won't do anything regardless of how many comments or requests we post, asking them nicely to fix thier broken program. Styardock Customer No-Service Sucks! Regardless of how much you have paid or how long you have been a loyal customer.

Ha whats with the o face. Your supposed to wait until they come out with the update
Yes, you are.
And since it's an easy fix, please, by all means.... Code a systray/taskbar docklet for us that works on 64bit. Easy as pie!
Advocating piracy is a quick ticket out of here.
Saleian, please see PM.
i understand the whole piracy thing but we all paid money for this. well at least i did. I guess i was being lazy and didnt want to hook up my other computer and install sdc and beta then strip the program down for what i need for laptop. i wish the would post on product page with red flags waving that system tray is not working on 64. i have a shortcut for start menu and properties but cant find one for system tray
RogueMafia Thanks alot. stardock take your time. i got what i needed
Hi!
I am on Vista x64-bit, Ultimate and I have had Object Dock + since I bought this computer some 3 months ago. And I have never had any problems. So I have a hard time to think thar the problem is x64. Can´t there bee any other program that causes this? Have you tried to run ccleaner when you un installed it and then rebooted before you installed it again? Just to make sure no old files is the cause? Maybe silly questin but anything may help!
Piracy fair enough... but it's very rude of a company to just "hold back on 2.0" which is supposed to have full x64 support, when there's absolutely no warning on the product page advising new customers of such. When customers DO purchase it, they find they have to jump through 20 hoops just to get the bloody thing to work as "advertised".
I would think there'd be at least an interim build that gave public x64 support for the basics they need because right now, 2.0 is still "coming soon" which could mean 10 years now for all we as paying customers are concerned!
Hold back? Uh... There's absolutely no profit in doing such thing, and Stardock *is* a commercial company. Rest assured that they do NOT hold back anything. If they had 2.0 to release, they would...
OD+ works exactly as currently advertised right out of the box.
I for one just can´t get why you are having problem with x64. I run, WB,Object Dock Plus, CursorFX, Iconpackager, Dreamscene, Rainlendar and I have Not run into any problems with any of these programs. And I have downloaded it from Impulse.
That´s why I think it is something else on your computers that cause this problems.
I don't see anything that says 64bit.
No itt may be so. But I have Windows Vista x64, Ultimate and it works just fine by m e. Thats why I can´t understand your problems. I don´t want to wind you up. I just think that sometimes it is really easy to think that it is depending on this software whitout check if it is something on your own computer. But when one suggest that it is really easy to be angry and that was not my meaning. I was just tried to help! I beg you parden me.
There's nothing helpful in stating "it works for me". The only thing it means is that it works for your needs, which is a different thing all together. If you don't try to use the nonfunctioning bits of the software, obviously it will work just fine. (Don't be too put down by this remark though, I'm guilty of doing the same kind of remarks too at times, even though I try to avoid it)
OD+ runs fine, but with limited functionality on Vista x64. No systray support, which is what all the fuss is about. Because of that they state 32bit only.
CursorFX is full of annoyances on 64bit, which is why it's not officially supported. Weird stuttering when running a browser and odd behaviour on applying cursors are some examples.
Well it´s really good to hear from an expert! Who can tell me That CursorFXdon´t work on x64!! Please you killing me with your jokes!!! They both works fine by me and ok that dosen´t help you, buty maybe it is not the softwares that dont work. Most wrong depends on handling!
Please don´t hit me.
This is the end from me.
I suggest you write to support if you have such a lot of problems!
GodNight
I did NOT say they don't work on Vista x64. If you feel the need to quote me, do it properly.
Neither OD+ or CursorFX are supported on Vista 64-bit, so writing to support would do me no good. Bashing on my computer knowledge which you don't know anything about won't change anything.
As SD is an Entity that thrives on sales, it would not withhold updates unless they were not ready. It is not in any Money making companies best interest to upset customers. So when they say it's not ready, I trust it is in our best interests that it not being released yet.
Cursor FX and OD work fine on my 64 bit install,Tho I do not get the systray either. But since I dont use it no big deal for me...
CursorFX sys req's:
I don't have the problems, I'm one of the few that jumped through all the said hoops to get it working correctly. In fact, I don't even know why you're quoting me.
@HG_Eliminator: I was going to mention that all they have that might contradict otherwise is the measily (32-bit) notice which you pointed out. Considering you actually HAVE to look for it, it isn't really what I would consider adequate notice.
I'm only ticked because 1. it takes an annoying amount of work to get it to work decently on an x64 system and 2. "when it's ready" is more or less just a blanket excuse for "when we can be bothered making time". Yeah, I'm being cynical but we don't even have a vauge idea like "Early '10" or something which is what I refer to 'holding back' - not as in they have it ready and they don't want to give it to us, but rather that they're just taking their sweet time.
It's just silly, considering the amount of people that HAVE paid to use this functionality and then find out it doesn't just work out of the box.
"Out of the box"......read the box description....it's just like system requirements for a PC game.
It says 32bit for a good reason.
If you want to try to get Doom 3 running on a 486 give it a whirl. That too will be outside 'system requirements'....
System requirements are 'requirements'. The fact that some people may succeed with running a/the proggy outside those requirements [eg 64 bit] is pure luck and/or craft ....It is because the proggy will NOT work for all 64 bit users that the platform is NOT included in those 'system requirements'...
