Out of curiosity, would it be possible to use the Drain Resources ability as an assimilation weapon that can be fired at ships? I tried it and got a minidump, but I might've been doing something wrong because I'm not terribly smart. But if it could be made to work, it would make for some very different and more in-character Borg. Assimilating ships by just taking them over isn't their MO.
But imagine (and I know this will probably never work) if you set the Borg up like this:
They get one ship--a capital ship cube. They can't colonize worlds or build asteroid mines. Their entire economy is based on draining resources from enemy ships (all of their weapons would have this effect). In the early game they'd get by assimilating planetary defenders, and later they'd gain resources in combat with other players.
Three things would keep them from rushing and killing everyone in the early game: first, the cube would have to level up before it poses a serious threat to a player fleet. Second, their high hull regeneration rate could be an in-culture bonus (call it the collective), so they'd be much more vulnerable in hostile or neutral territory. And third, with only one ship (at least in the early game - their fleet caps could be manipulated to allow a second cube to be built later on if you collect enough resources) an attack on another player's empire would leave their homeworld virtually unprotected.
Anyway, I'm having a blast with the mod even in it's unstable and unbalanced state, so keep up the good work.

Can't yet. Read the last post by SOA2 Team - it says the first Entrenchment release will be in roughly two weeks.
NowhereDan- mm unless shimmer has altered the Borgs capital ships the only way to get a capital cube is to have maxx fleet supply researched and even then you can only get one ship. But yea i toyed with the idea of having the borg going around and assimilating everything to get their resources but the AI players did not like this still that was in vanilla SoASE so could be different in Entrenchment so ill have another look once i am finished on the Fed / Klingon tech trees
as for assimilation yes they just take over ships atm but think of it this way you can always use the self destruct button to get some resources, btw the borg tech tree wont be done for a little while and i am not sure how i am going to do it yet as well you know how expensive the ships are
oh the minidump did it happen when you assimilated a ship or was it something else ?

Yeah, I figured the AI would spaz out if you tried something like that, considering it can't even handle not having a siege frigate. My minidump happened when I equipped a Vasari light frigate with the Resource Drain ability - it was cast, the effect started up, and then bam, crash.

Mooster wtf you talking about they allready have it and its not that unstable or atleast the version i have aint (IT depends on IF you are playing with live sync activated) TURN IT OFF when your playing the mod if you play the mod with live sync on the mod is unstable as files are being altered added removed etc
and what shimmer ment about ELITE to CAPITALSHIP is just the naming convention nothing else
apparently you are getting the point, they ask if they too can get the mod, well it is obvious that don't have it

Will the current mod download found here work in Sins current patch without Entrenchment?
The only released versions of the mod will not work on Entrenchment. If you are talking about the beta version it is only for Entrenchment.

There is currently nowhere to go to download the mod for Entrenchment, because the mod is not yet out for Entrenchment. Yes, you can get in on the beta test, but that's probably best reserved for people interested enough to actually read the thread (not trying to speak for the SoA2Team here, but it's a safe assumption). Wait a Second I am So confused I Just downlodaded the .03b mod and it dosen't work and now they are building and .03e mod?
I cant get the maps or anything to show up on the mod i have now.
Mike19054, the latest version of the Star Trek mod for sin vinalla is .03c so you need to update that version and in that version, you will need to delete the Galaxy section cause the maps don't work anymore and this mod is for entrenchment, in which d was skipped becuase it was intented for released but they decided not to go with it cause they decide to go cumlative on the update on e
Beta testers, the feds and klingons have been updated with the first row updates, please evaluate them and report.
i'm especially interested in the frigate movement. I did notice they are stopping like they are stuck. i am not noticing this issue with cruisers and caps.
Also be on the lookout for debris.

I have been testing the ships that work currently, it seems that that we can't level the ships past 1 right now, why is that?
i haven't experienced that issue.

What i mean it that if I want to buy more than 1 level, say from level 1 to lvl 2 or 3 I can't do that.
it has prob been disabled then
or it it has been broken it will be fixed in due time but that is not the top priority atm
once i have the last 2 emails i will no longer be accepting emails for beta testing. those invites have already been sent. The rest of you who sent in requests will have your invites emailed to you by friday.
