One cannot do a MOD with volenteers for all the reasons above.
The best way to do a mod is to save up money and hire young game developers from the local games training institute. You manage the team, your the boss, pay them and control the project. You could have this mod out in 2 months with a team of 4 working equiv of 2 days week per person.
It's amazing if you pay someone how quickly things get done and how serious one takes the work. And they get excellent experience to go on their CV.
The problem is if any money is exchanged, or even the hint of it then Paramount will be on us like white on rice with cease, and desist letters. Along with threats of legal action. As long as no one profits from this then we can use the Trek IP for mod purposes (we have been through the legal issues before with SFC, and Homeworld modding). Besides who in their right mind would pay someone to help make a free mod. That is just ridiculous. No one here has that kind of money to blow.
I have no ill will towards my former crew. In fact i may be getting into MMO's again once the summer is up, and they are more than welcome to join me in fighting the hordes of chaos. It is all just conflicts of ideas. They want one thing. I want something else. It happens in all things like this.

i am really confused lol i know we had our differences on the borg but we agreed on a lot of the stuff
but i only did what i was asked when modding the other factions if your going along the lines of that ?
as for the ship speeds i have noidea shimmer has changed them and they are what i would consider slow espc compaired to how they, were ships dont zoom around really fast anymore same for the weapons those have changed too, i dont think you have or had or w/e the latest version before shimmer had to go fix some servers and i went away for a few weeks
but as for the shield thing i have noidea to to turn that back to how it was which was better than multicoloured shields... hence why it was not changed
I am sorry to hear that things are not going so well with this mod. I, like many others, have been eagerly waiting it's release.
Stress, you seemed so dedicated to the mod when it began. I feel bad that things did not turn out as you had expected. However, your post does read somewhat like a tantrum ending with, "I'm taking my toys and going home." Whenever many people are involved in a project, especially where they give up there free time and get almost nothing in return, they will want to put their stamp on it. I do not understand why that would be a problem. That being said, it is, of course, your choice not to work on the mod. Although, I wonder what will become of everyone else's time and hard work. Will it just be scrapped?
Also, my sympathies go out to everyone who donated their free time just to be fired in a tantrum. Everyone appreciates your hard work.
Will anyone be continuing the mod or will it just be trashed? If no one is continuing it, could the beta just be released? I am sure someone somewhere would love to pick up where you all left off.
Thanks again for alll the hard work. I know I have not commented much on this forum. However, I do check it several times a week. I have refrained from asking questions and such since I thought it would be a distraction. Since the mod is being terminated, I thought I would chime in. Good luck to you all and I hope we can at least see what you all have accomplished so far.
Ye i agree with the last poster, i've been checking these boards every day for a long long time, waiting for the entrenchment release, can the beta or whatever it is which is being used be released? I play this game allot and feel its only fair that the community can play the beta until the full game, in whatever form, is released.
On a seperate note im dissapointed with stresses comments, im sure an alternative solution could have been found... Yes the MOD is yours, yes you may be doing it for yourself, BUT you have let allot of people down, you may not care about that, but that is the fact im afriad.
I do hope any differences between the SOA Team and Stress can be worked out and this school like episode can be put in the past.

Only a kid would bitch about the current situation. There really is nothing to bitch about. You already have a version of the mod released. We weren't put on this earth just to make mods for you. Be happy with what you have. You're right, i dont care what you think, because all you want is another version of the mod. No matter how stupid, or crappy it turns out.
There are only a very few people this is affecting. and thier work is not going to waste. Our ideas just have diverged greatly. All of the scripting, and balancing is getting scrapped. The weapons are getting scrapped. The movement is being re-done. The models will remain. There is an old saying.. "If you want it done right, do it yourself. Apparently that is what i have to do.
I still have the same enthusiasim i had when i started the project. I was losing interest due to the mod turning into a gay version of bridge commander. So i am fixing the problem, and reverting the mod back to 0.01 standards. There was no other solution because neither side would yeild.
No one has heard from shimmer in over a month. So i am assuming he is done with the mod.
Loki is still onboard. So is Atrahasis. They are the model makers. My mod pretty much has been usurped by the fanboy's and i am taking it back. What is so hard to understand about that? Oh wait, all you want is another release.... I forgot you all think we were put here to make mods for you. I keep forgetting that i am dealing with kids.
Dont worry this is all just a phase, and once it is over we all can get back to our busness of making stupid suggestions, and demanding stupid stuff for the mod, and us refusing it.

Well, I am genuinely sorry to read this today. I can understand your frustration with your mod getting out of control, and I can also understand you wanting to start over. After I read your post the day before yesterday when you talked about not being very active with it anymore, that in a sense, it has gotten away from it, would have frustrated me too.
I am a nobody around here, and I am old enough to know it. I am as big of a die hard trekkie you will probably find lurking around here, and the last release of the mod I found pretty good. Nothing is perfect in mods. I do have to say, who ever was doing the modeling for this mod, did a really great job. I play other mods, and the modeling here are very good, they should be commended for their work.
The only thing, I know you won't care, is people do work like this, so others can enjoy it. You wouldn't have posted it online if that wasn't the case with you. It sounded like you got help with it, and they were enthusiastic with it also. I just wish in your viewing you opinion you didn't trash the other 75% of the people who were excited about the mod, and were anxiously waiting your next release, as I was.
I wish you luck with your next mod. I probably won't be around when it comes out, as I go from favorite game to favorite game pretty often.

You already have a version of the mod released. Except those who bought Entrechment.....
Sins is needed to run Entrenchment so all you have to do is start Sins (not Entrenchment) with the version of the mod for Sins (not Entrenchment) installed and you will able to play it...without starbases/techs/etc given by the micro-expansion.
I think I don't start Sins vanilla from when Entrenchment was at the first public beta and I don't plan to do it anytime soon, it's like going backwards to me and I'm just not used to that, mods or not mods.
Best of luck with this mod, I just hope it will get finished someday in one way or another otherwise it was just wasted time and that would be really a...sin, to stay on theme.

Just because an addon requires an original doesn't mean you got the version, you still can't play it in Entrechment (otherwise you get errors and what not).
The current mod version was being planned for Sins Entrechment only, thus not really "You already have a version" an excuse..
The verison thats currently available is the version for the original, you should also see the title of the THREAD.
SOA 2 for original is dead and baried as far as those who play the mod.
I was of the impression that Stress told there's already a working version of the mod but that's just not for Entrenchment (hence why his 'be fine with what you already have', otherwise I didn't get it then..)
How old it is what do one care if it works w/current version? And players are not a must-be if you're looking for sp to try it out.
If it doesn't work even with the current version of Sins (not E) then well..no play of course.

The version is not the problem, but getting it to work under Entrechment. We've already seen progress done by Darkshimmer and others.... So they were either lazy or just haven't bothered to release it, even if it was unbalanced/unfinished, would have been ok by me.
Well Stress, your description of the mod sounds horrific, so congrats on your blow up. I look forward to any potential releases that aren't stupid sometime in the fall.

Technically those who bought Entrenchment still have a working version of their vanilla Sins that can play the mod without the new features that an E version would eventually bring.

I extracted 03c as directed. I can find it w/ Mod Manager in SOSE. I can enable it BUT when I hit the APPLY button, my system locks up everytime. Any helpful suggestions???

panenthiest, you could try deleteing the galaxy folder in the mod. it has been know to fix this issue.

I am truly sorry to hear that you have decided to liquidate the team and start over from scratch (this mod is probably never going to see the light of day now), but I must say that I have enjoyed working with you and the rest of the guys what little time we had. I am currently removing all aps of Live sync and messenger and deleting what I have for the mod ATM. I am not trying to completely disconnect myself from you guys, but I just never used those aps before working with you so no need for them anymore.
This by far sounds like the best idea that I have heard, and it might keep everyone happy (including our yuppie community).
