I would have thought that was a given, since never guarrentee existing savegames/mods will work with new versions of the game ?

It looks like 0.03c is in WinRAR format - otherwise I have no idea what to do with a "SoA_2_0.03c.rar" file. Previous version (0.03a adn 0.03b) were ZIP. Do I need to buy WinRAR to unpack this file? Or will the trial version work?

no you only need to download either winrar OR 7zip (both programs read rar files and rar and 7zip can BOTH compress files A LOT MORE than mere zip, and for winrar I use the trial version myself and have had no problems

Are you sure?! sure, it sometimes slow to load and when that occurs, you can't see the post except for the pinned onces

I had some free time on my hands so I managed to do a quick test of the mod untouched from its last state i synced with the 1.03 developer exe. I get errors galor (hundreds of errors, most seem to be in the english string, and abilitys), but the mod does indeed run in 1.03 without dumping. Longer test are needed. So as far as i can tell the 1.03 patch didnt totally break 0.03e.
Unfortunetly i do not have the free time to fix the string errors myself, and whoever did the new abilitys will have to look over each error, and see what they can do. I am still on the road so there isnt much i can do at the moment. I work 14+ hours a day.
I am expecting some time off this week so i can dive into this and fix some of the nonsense. THANK GOD WE GOT A DEV EXE NOW.
We need to make sure 0.03e is error free before we release it. We also need to finish the tech trees, and structures for the current faactions. Its gonna take a while. this update we are putting in the most work out of all the updates
I am also working on a proper federation starbase.. tng scale of course
Bets testers run the mod only using developer exe. Document the errors you get. If you can fix them yourselves that will be a HUGE help.

I also wanted to add that 0.03e will be the "largest" update of all as well. As it stands now the mod is 625 megs compared to 0.03c's 250 megs. Not all of that space is new artwork. Much of it is new entitys, ability's, and scripts. We are short 2 factions with this update (romulans, and dominion), but added the borg. So we will have a total of 5 factions when the future 0.04 update is ready.
Ok, Major, as per your request I ran the mod and managed to fix several errors. All the other errors I copied to a txt file, any of the modders who want them let me know and I'll IM them to you.

You still need to learn how to turn the "ship mesh highlight filter" off before taking screens
On the readme for all the mod releases we reccomend doing that, because to this day we still have not figured out how to make that feature work properly on the imported ships.
For those that do not know about ship mesh highlighting. It is a feature that makes ships brighter the further away you zoom from them so they are easily seen. Some Mod ships tend to stay bright no matter what level you zoom so we just turn off that feature. Along with team color, and mesh team color.
Team colors act strangely in the mod as well. We do not use team colors in the mod, and the team color channel is all black. If you noticed when team color is on all the ships have whatever team color you chose glowwing about them. The vanilla ships, and structures stands out much worse. Its a bug, and i do not know why it does that. Despite the textures, and shaders being placed properly, and the vanilla units doing the exact same thing.
That is the Imperial Klingon starbase. Darkshimmer picked that one out. I didnt like it at 1st, but it has grown on me now. I do need to fix the shield on it.

Ya, I asked about that a while back, apparently all of the ships are of the correct scale
I dunno, I thought it was less than half the size of a galaxy. something like 200 - 300 meters. at least in the current public version it did not strike me as badly scaled.
