Woot first poster here, nice, I hope to see it come soon, my suggestion is after you have released the first version, for every update, just put up a version where it only has the files that were only changed
Has the Stress been hijacked while away or what?

True, but I think Dark was in charge...also if I'm not mistaken they said no to the borg, they tried it out but they couldn't get it to work. This seems like a hijacking...
Darkshimmer and Stress are still in charge, and they are both in contact with each other
"just letting you all know i am still alive, and my interest in SoA2 has not faded. Darkshimmer is doing an excellent job of holding the fort during my absense. I have yet to see the new updates Darkshimmer added being as i am on the road for work, and have no computer of my own to use during this trip. Hopefully that will change soon.

Yes Stress said there will be no borg, but shimmer and loki believe that they can balance them out and so far the borg are not OP
and no the mod has not been hijacked
Another thing I noticed was the change of the old ships from beams to projectiles. I was under the impression that this was set during the domion war there for the would have had phasers.

You cant hijack a mod when the team does exactly what the project lead wishes to be done. Darkshimmer, and the crew have done an excellent job in my absense. AFAIK the only major issue with the entrenchment conversion is the models themselves, and once i can return to my home computer i can deal with that.
I havnt seen what was changed, but i will soon, and i do trust shimmers judgement. The "no borg" policy was a ploy so that when you did see borg you said "holy s**t!" one attemt to get borg in met with abismal failure. Shimmer, and crew seem to have found a way to get them in (without making them look stupid).
I am very much alive and well. I do check in from time to time permitting i have access to a puter and the net. I have about 1 month of traveling left then i will have some time off before i am gone for the whole summer. Until then stop giving shimmer crap. Everything he, and the crew are doing has my approval.
Ok, I'm sorry. I figured it would be converted to entrenchment, I just figured shimmer or someone who's actually been known as a team member would do the post, not create a brand new account name just for that purpose.
Having one account we can all access streamlines things a bit so that any one of us can post updates.

My understanding is this is supposed to take you through history, in a way. You start with TMP era ships and work your way forward, slowly getting more powerful ships, more advanced weapons. So you can think of it as the races advancing to that point of the dominion war, in a shorter time frame of course. Allows for a whole lot more "what if" scenarios. Like all the skirmishes over the years leading up to that point and so on.
I got a suggestion, it has to do with the ship size, I was using Enterprise (galaxy cap ship) to ram it up next to a heavy frigate, you know the one that does the most damage before you hit caps, so i noticed that the saucer section of Enterprise was about the same height of the heavy frigate, I would think that enterprise's saucer section would be greater in height than those of the heavy firgate, after consulting all known blue prints of the galaxy class starship, all blueprints shows that the galaxy class has 18 decks in the saucer section, that would mean that the heavy frigate would be over 35 meters tall assumming an average of 3 m per deck, that I think is way too big. So will all ships in the entrenchment be resized or will the ships from default sins, be shrunk
However, I can see that the argument is that if we do increase the size of all the ships the plantary size would have to be drastically overhaulded, 3 or maybe 4 times larger.
AFAIK all the trek ships are properly sized in comparison to each other which is all we are really worried about since at some later point we will be removing all vanilla sins ships from the mod.

We're currently working on porting more stuff over to Entrenchment as well as squashing some rather... interesting... bugs.
Whether or not Stress and Shimmer decide to put beams back on the tmp era ships or not they will have my full support no matter the decision made. AFAIK there are no plans for putting beams back on them at this time.

I think Major Stress has said he's working on those while he's been away. Thank you though for your enthusiasm for the mod. I think we're set on structures but if we do need them I'll be sure to point them to your post.

Yes, starbases are one of the things that will be released hopefully within the next few updates. It all depends on how long it takes to port everything else over from standard sins, and how long a few bugs persist, but they are planned on.
I cant promise anything for Sins 1.15, but there will be starbases in Entrenchment. I had originally planned for the Fed's major starbase to be in the superweapon slot, but Entrenchment changed that with its own starbase slot. The upgradeable platforms is also something we are looking forward to.
The separation of the "defenses" on research is also of interest to us.
Our plan is for 0.04 to be the final update of the mod for pre-entrenchment sins. There wont be much more to do with sins 1.15 afterwards, and having a version of the mod for each version of sins is out of the question. We wont be able to keep them all updated in a reasonable amount of time. The workload involved is just too great.
0.05 and above will be for Entrenchment only. The mod at present will stay at 0.03, and be updated in stages (0.03c,d,e,f etc) until i can get back and get the stations in the mod, and work over the models to make them work in Entrenchment.

IMO Entrenchment is worth getting regardless if SoA2 is ready for it or not. Especially for 10 bucks. From what i played of Entrenchment it changes sins in a very good way. It still needs work IMO, but it is still quite enjoyable.

The mod will continue. I spent much time building stations for the mod. We still have very big, and ambitious plans for SoA 2. The new star trek movie will effectively wipe out the entire TOS, TMP, and TNG timelines in one swift stroke. It will be replaced with the re-imagined timeline. A paradox of epic proportions, but SoA, and the old school fans will make those timelines live on through our art, and imagination.
0.04 will include all the content that is missing now (researches, stations weapons, tweaks, etc.) 0.05 will be the big spit and polish update. all models rebuilt, and retextured as needed. All effects music and sound finalized. Then the big jump to SoA 2 1.0. By that time the 3rd expansion of Sins should be out. We all know that the final sins expansion will deal with diplomacy (though i am sure more than that will be added). In what way we do not know yet.
Darkhimmer, and crew will continue to update the 0.03 series untill we all can get together, and make 0.04 happen.
DO NOT post, or PM minidumps... We are not programmers. We dont understand how the minidumps work. We cant read them. Only the Sins developers can read, and understand them. I do not have the 1.15 update yet being as i have no puter that can play sins at the moment, but before you post a crash issue check and make sure you DO NOT have entrenchment installed, or have had it installed. Do the fresh install of sins 1.15, and deletion of the ironclad games folder before 1st run as per the original readme instructions.
Make sure you installed the mod correctly, and do not have 2 instances of an SoA2 folder (one inside of the other) before you post any crash issues.
If you do have a crash issue what we do need to know is what error message you got before the dump (if you got an error message before the dump) BE AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE, and if others have the same issue we need to know this. This will help us to nail the problem.
If you guys want to play this mod in 1.15 all you have to do is delete the galaxy file in the SoA2 folder, that is what I did and I play the mod just fine.
