You know the people that made the Sins of a Solar Empire may have been on to something. How far can we actually advance in technology.
As everyone knows we have not learned nearly as much of the briain as we have our own solar system. I mean technology can only go so far right?
If we were to know everything that there was in the brain that would be like the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of eden. It was said and written there; that as Eve sinned to have eaten upon the fruit that had all knowledge of good and evil prompted by the serpeant and Adam to have eaten the fruit as well. They had gained all knowledge. And if that were true that would explain why they didn't use technology such as ours or create such things becuase they wouldn't have the problems as we do today.
What do you think?
I doubt that technology will ever replace neighbors. I don't see how technology would ever keep you from moving next door to someone it you enjoy that sort of thing. (I personally don't, but that may just be because my neighbors kick up a big rave whenever I try to sleep!)
For those that say God created us in his image, I just got this to throw out there, maybe it'll throw your mind into a new track...
We are, at our basest element, all made up of energy. It is a fact of nature. So technically, were God an omnipresent field of energy, in a word "everything", then bam, we've already met the "in own image" characteristic there.
Well see thats the thing. For a lot of people it has replaced their neighbors. Neighbors are now simply someone they live next too. They don't know them, whether they have kids, what their preferences are, hopes dreams, fears, etc. I remember one day about 10 years back some friends and I started playing MTG out in the drive-way. About halfway through the neighbor guys came up and were like "Is that MTG? Can we jump in?" so we had a 7 way MTG game going. One of my favorite childhood memories.
I don't see a whole lot of that going on anymore, I mean heck, to find someone to play a freakin' boardgame with I have to post on Boardgamegeek.com and hope they're a good crew.
Closer to home, if my refrigerator goes out, I get to call my parents across town because all my neighbors are absolute strangers. I really wish it weren't that way and I only really have myself to blame, but I feel like technology has made communicating with anyone so easy that people won't reach out and communicate with their neighbors. *shrug*
Actually thats a marginally old track for me. I actually have an essay on what it means to be human sitting on my hard drive, one of the aspects covered in it is the Image of God motif. I believe the image of God to be several things, but the most prominent being the intentional relationality human beings show when they genuinely care for one another. Thats a rough shortening of the idea, but its the basics.
I'm actually using the whole "everytihng is energy" idea as the basis for a 'magic' system in a fiction book I'm working on.
actually in that what has been written long before we were born it has said and still says that he made us from dust, dirt if you may say and then breathed through our nostrols giving us the breath of life and a soul. Without a soul we would never of been human because we would not exist. Thats probably were you get that energy idea.
What does dirt and dust have to do with the notion of energy being the unifying element of the universe?
Energy IS the thing we're all made up of. Period. It's fact. That is where I got that idea from.
Also, consider that the story of human creation from dust/bones etc., there's actually the exact same story in northern Germanic pagan legend that preceeds the bible by a thousand years or more. I wonder... who got ideas from who?
Actually to answer that its probably because the two first human beings who sinned first and was with God even after they sinned past down the story but, as what has been proven if we're using facts now. If you talk to one person and they talk to one person next to them and they go down the line to hundreth person. It probably won't come out to the same as what was previously said; am I right?! But if you'd like to talk about energy; I know about atoms and the electrons and such and how its done and combusted. Energy if defined can deal with the bodies function of sugars and such but, phisics: the capacity to do work; the property of a system that diminishes when the system does work on any other system; and so on and so forth. Now tell me where it explains how the body is created. But if I may ask what makes you believe what you just said or what you believe now?
Don't you know about Einstein's most famous equation? Or string theory?
