4v4 (Courtesy of me) It's an interesting game, sorta... Guy I faced minidumped. I think it's even money weather it would made that much of a difference if he stayed. My side had someone who we suspected to be a smurf, but turned out to be a newbie, happens often. So the newbie didn't lsiten at first, and got rolled like a fine cigar. Special thanks to Dark Vortex for great attitude towards the new guy, and picking up the slack on his side. Game ends with one side leaving due to some time constraints, but once again it's even money as to how it would play out. Especially since our side is heavy econ at that point.
OLD Entrenchment 1.03:
4v4 (Courtesy of Qu4r) Have not watched yet. Make comment later.
2v3 (From Top Vasari) Very nice game, the side with only 2 players wins.
4v5 (Courtesy of Me) Strange game. I won on my side barely by killing the enemy Marza which was at lvl 5. My marza was low like lvl 3 only because it was away from my fleet most of the game doing demolitions. I also took a beating to my income when my Homewolrd got a bit of razed Luckily I still had good income cause of multiple roids+neutrals. Elsewhere there were so fights going on, my team was winning each of the fights thou, or at very least holding the line.
2v2 (Courtesy of Proliteri) Classic 2v2 with the winning team winning on both fronts. Multiple Capships used.
OLD Entrenchment 1.02:
4v4 (courtesy of JJ) JJ fights multiple players with heavy feeding going on all over the place. Nice attempt at use of culture.
3v4 (courtesy of Brothers in Arms [_] ): Interesting i guess is only way to describe this.
3v3 (Courtesy of mysterious person): Lots of early action. No econ beyond neutrals.
5v5 (Brothers in Arms): Fantastic map, everyone has fun, even the losing side!
3v3 (Brotehrs in Arms): Good rush, followed by nice rebuilding. Ending with a ncie starbase defense vs multiple fleets.
4v4 mixed : Mixed teams, sort of. The underdog team pulls an upset in this masterpiece of Sins art. Watch an evil rush unfold on an unsuspecting victim who goes 2 civic labs first. Also tactical prowess likes of which have not yet been seen by your truely. Taking my opponent apart in a systamtic and strategic matter, piece by piece.
5v5 mixed : Faced with certain doom due to map positioning, can Astax pull off a magic trick to stay alive? Also so horrible horrible play by his teamates This game was really a 3v5. One guy surrenders after he lost 1 planet. Another guy has nagative income on 7 planets, and net income of 2.7 by late game (so much for mixing noobs and vets). I didn't even notice till i watched repaly Comes with an extra special LOL moment at the end.
4v4 Economy on front : In MP you must be bold, and do as much as you think you can get away with! If you thinky ou can get away with doing economy on front, then do it! Game is upsidedown, and assbackwards, some pocket players not doing econ? Guy on front #2 in credits and econ overal wtf!
3v3 blowout : When you get taken out early, it's a blow-out. Happens to all of us sometimes. This game I made 1 mistake due to lag. I only got half the terran cap upgrade, oops. I mixed my econ and military build up pretty good. Only ran into trouble after colonizing enemy homeworld and a roid. But my allies helped me out with some cash to keep my factories pumping
3v3 match : What to do when you suck? Try complaining about the other guy getting fed. If that doesn't work, lose...
Please let me know if the replays show odd behavior. Something that would not otherwise be considered normal Had 1 replay desync fromw hat I remembered, but after I restarted Sins it played fine.
That was awesome, I learned so much. Expecially on how to expend properly. Thanks.
And I must say you did show the two sides of the MP community here. The first two showed a pretty new player getting beat, but he asked questions. I could tell by the second game he worked on the strategy you used for expansion at least. The third game, well... the opposing team started trash talking and making excuses for losing as soon as it started to look bad for them. Oh well....
A 2vs2vs2vs2vs2 (that's 10 players) I did and won this afternoon. I was allied with red who was very strong. I also did fairly well. At some point my ally tells me I should retreat in a difficult battle. My Marza has just turned level 6, so I fire up missile barrage and destroy every lrm of my adversary ! From then on, I dominate easily.
Dont call me red ^^ your Marza had done it pretty well
Yes. thanks for sharing. I never really got a good feel for when to boost economy and many seem to recommend against it in the early game. But you showed me that it works very well. Your trade ports and research were more than paid for very quickly. After that you had about 50% more credit income to work with for the rest of the game. (I'm referring to the 1v1 games)
I also liked your strategy of starting to take a gravity well with your cap ship but then leaving the LF to do the clean up. You'd think you'd be missing out on the experience points but again it seemed to work well for you.
I think if your opponent learns to build their economy and micro their carriers properly they will start to do better.
Yes in general the flak frigates while give lot of XP, take way long to kill. Usually I would leave em to light frigate or a turret. After all, the next gravity well has some juicy siege frigates which give 65 experience
how do you replay the replays? lol
You have to put em in replay folder. Then go to single player and select watch replay. I suggest you stick it in the single player replay folder, that way you will not have to click around the folders looking for it.
Folder you want is [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[Windows Username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Record-SinglePlayer in the case of Windows XP. If you are using Vista, then good day. I said good day!
For Vista, it's [system drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire .
nice replays. the 3v3 was most enlightening. your orange team-mate misplayed very badly. i was expecting to see him feed you and Tyr with heavy econ but he seemed to want to go on offense. the yellow player i think could have taken out Tyr if he had better scouting and wasn't obssessed with the "hidden bonus room". Tyr gambled heavily on keeping those neutrals to feed his whole economy. he basically starbase rushed. got kinda lucky that nobody called him on it.
bump. Added new replays. If you wish to contribte, feel free
Which one above is the best? I'll watch whatever one you guys recommend. I'd love to watch them all but I don't have time
All are pretty good. Some amazing econ play in the 4v4. Hell actually all of em got some good econ and good military play. I'll add more when I come across them.
The 4v4 with jj was a great example of feeding, econ and being in the pocket. But also a nice attempt at culture shock by chaostheory. Almost worked. Major wang was a feeding machine. I watched the whole replay from John James perspective and it was constant click click click credit, metal, and crystal. Then the stats at the end showed Major Wang's economy was over powering. Good game all around. First time I saw the z-axis put to use in battle too.
Thanks again for the replays, Astax. I plan to watch the other two replays soon.
You are welcome. I got one more comin but filefront is doign maintence. It's not that great thou. And yeah the culture thing was pretty funny hehehe.
Can you watch the 1.01 replays with an upgraded game?
You can try, but I doubt. Sicne saves are incompatible, most likely the replays will be also.
Yeah! More replays to watch, more learning to do.
OK we have a problem. I tohught they were doing a long maintence at filefront, turns out they are shutting down! F*&%^&. I have to fidn a new file hosting service, migrate these over, then post new links. If you got any ideas post here. Don't say rapidshare, they seem to limint how many times the file can be downloaded on free account. I am not made of money
Why not use the replays link from the download page on this site?
Narog there is horrible delay of days if you submit something. Hell once I submitted maps for version 1.12 I think, and by the time they were up the new patch came days after. I prefer using another palce where I have instant access to the media I submit.
I use fileden. You have to be careful about their ads, as they're tricky, but it's free 2Gb.
Added 2 new very interesting replays to the lineup. Both are fantastic. Filled with excitement and intrigue.
Please let me know how our new host (MediaFire) treats you!
Added one mroe fromt onight.
That 5v5mixed was just evil. I really like chaostheory. He's a fighter. I couldn't believe he took on your homeworld and got so close to destroying the starbase.
I really don't think the folks at IronClad had this in mind when they made Entrenchment. You were dug in pretty deep. If the game had not been called it would have taken way too long. I don't even want to know what you said to get those two so target fixated.
*That Mazra leveling up just from strikecraft death. Flak works folks!
*"feed me for something funny"
*"surrender"
Classic
