The Egg Evacuator is the first cap ships I get as vasari
But what should the second one be. for short/medium or long games?
The Planet Bomber? the Carrier, the support or battleships?
I like the planet bombers disintrigate ability. that eats starbases.
What do youall do?
It depends on your situation, I usually build the carrier cap 2nd for repair cloud and microphasing aura.
But as you said the vulcurals desolator eats starbase so if your enemy is building lots of starbases you should go for that one.
Or if your enemy is spamming carriers go for the battleship because of the jam weapons ability.
I almost never build the Antorak maurader 2nd because it has poor weaponary and its abilitys are better for late game.

This pretty much sums it up...it really all depends upon your situation and strat at that time. I almost always go the carrier 2nd and the battleship 3rd. The carrier's Repair Cloud really makes a difference in a good sized fleet that is packed close together and the battleship is good against everything in general and it's Jam Weapons will effectively combat the carrier spam.
A second evacuator isn't a bad idea either. That thing is scary powerful, and doubling up the nano-disassembler fun works wonders at times.
hard to make a bad choice for 2nd cap as Vasari, all of the ships have their uses and none is noticeably weak (except maybe the Antorak but even that one is pretty good once you've got a phase node network up).
i think my most common pick for 2nd cap is a Skiranta because air superiority becomes so important in the midgame and the Repair Cloud/Micro-phasing combo is fantastic support for fighter squadrons. its also a quick infusion of fighter squads into your fleet, which i can't complain about.
Ive used 3 Eggs before.
Egg is great. Especially as your second and third egg dont really need colonising so you can focus on nano ability. Plus it has a handy strike squadron.
Nothing is better then having 3 Targets under nano attack in a grav well
I agree with P5yy. However, I usually focus the second cap on grav bomb. That way, you can perpetually prevent an enemy cap from jumping.
just remember to 1 or 2 lvl 6 caps is far better than a fleet of lvl 1 caps. i often go whole games as vasari with only the egg, let my egg be greedy with exp and divert the costs of another cap into 5 carriers or some armor and HP upgs, or for that matter trade ports
also consider i prefer to rush so i often scrap my cap factory. so to buy 2nd cap i need to build a new fac, upg tech for capitol ship crew possibly fleet cap and pay for the damn cap itself. thats a lot of time and funds, not to mention the benefit of multiple caps youll find the more you play isnt as great as it looks on paper. (for vasari that is, i like 2+ for tec and as many as 4 for advent)
of course its all situational and you have to make decisions as the game pans out and the map gets scouted, so sometimes differant approaches will be more effective, use our advise and rely on your personal experiance most of all
