Also using XP SP3 w/ .Net 2.0 SP 2. No luck with GF 3 .. although PF runs just fine. Got my maps made with GF 1.1 working under Entrenchment, so I'm happy about that but it would be nice to see GF 3 working properly.
Downloading .Net 3.5 SP 1 .. will see if that helps.
Same here and it still crashes.
Vista64 home premium sp1.
What are these compatibility files? I'm looking at the galaxy directories and I can't find nothing else but just...maps.
can you see you missing maps, if not do you see a heading "compatibility files" if you do click on it
harpo
Lotek:
Is it a version 3 map? (You can check by opening it in notepad)
If it isn't, the game protects you from crashing by ignoring map files that are out of date.
Edit (for attention):
If your map is in the manifest file, you've put it in the right location, and it's still not showing up in the appropriate spot (Small,Medium,Large), open it in notepad and confirm that the version is 3. Version 2 maps will not show up no matter what you do, because they will cause a crash if you try to load them.
If you've got a version 3 map that won't show up, and you've edited your manifest file properly (don't forget to change the count at the top!), email support with the two files.
I'm still just getting crashing and not at the point of changing compatability, did I miss how to fix it or will there be a new quick bug fix that will be ready in the near future? I can't even get it to open.
KommanderKhaki: Have you tried everything in reply #27 of this thread?
kommanderkhaki does the map have normalstart & quickstart lines in it at the start of the map file in notepad, also does each plaent have normalstart & quickstart entries, if no then change the version back to 2 and run the sinsmapupdater to update the map to version 3
Ok .. with .Net 3.5 SP 1 on the above system GF 3 seems to work just fine. Cool.
i was wondering when this company was gonna finally screw up half its users with a expansion as usual that takes ALWAYS the forums not a simple txt file to fix their complications !
I tried this and now my game keeps throwing an error, won't start back up unless I remove the line I added.
theleviathan, is the map in version 2 or 3 WITH the normalstart & quickstart lines in the header & EACH planet?
if version 2 then I suggest downloading & running the sins map updater on the downloads page
if v3 without normalstart & quickstart lines in the header & EACH planet then edit the version number back to 2 & run the sins map editor
hope this helps
I got Gal Forge to work . I Moved the files in step 2, then did step 4. Not sure if the step 2 was required, but for me I needed to do step 4.
Have a new problem. After much hard work I finally got my maps to show up in entrenchment, the forum advice from devs and others. Played my map noticed some mistakes, went back to galaxy forge fixed mistakes, made sure to copy it over to entrenchment galaxy file, re-checked manifest even version number.
Now I cannot find it when in entrenchment. Does work with vanilia.
ryat is it listed in the galaxy.manifest in the entrenchment directory?
if not then add it to the bottom of the file and alter the number of maps at the top
No it does not help though I appreciate the help. I had already been able to get to work once even played it on Entrenchment.
The problem was I edited the map and now it will not show up. I even deleted file out of entrenchment galaxy folder and manifest sheet, saved it, then reentered info. No dice. Will keep trying and if you or anybody has other suggestions would be nice.
PS I even renamed the file and matched every ting up proper. No dice.
Found problem.
Apperentlly a new mod that I introduced, the volumetric explosions one, was hindering Entrenchment from see the map. Dont know why, will let mansh00ter know, but with it off my map shows up but with it on the map disappears. Have not noticed this with any other mod yet.
the mod has agalaxy.manifest in it. if you delete the galaxy.manifest in the mods-entrenchment v1.01\volumetric1.12 folder you will have no probs
Thank you harpo that was the problem. I jsut wish I had checked this forum first this morning instead of looking at others trying to figure it out. I did eventually figure it out but I do wish to thank you for any help you gave me.
I love the deadly sins mods thanks for them!
Windows Vista Ultimate x64, .NET 2.0 SP2, .NET 3.5 SP1. Sins and Entrenchment freshly reinstalled and patched.
Neither Particle Forge or Galaxy Forge will start. They both immediately crash at launch.
I copied binkw32.dll, d3dx9_36.dll and fmod.dll into their respective directories and they still crash. I have installed the DirectX runtime March 2008 and it didn't help.
Currently running them from GalaxyForge3 and ParticleForge3 directories created under the root Sins of a Solar Empire directory.
I was able to run previous versions of Particle Forge without much issue.
Edit: Oddly enough, I can still run Particle Forge 1.1
-dolynick
I did everything listed, added the map to the galaxy manifest, got the lastest forge, Tryed naming it as an orginal map and etc but also failed...Gah! Going to bed then
Bug found in Galaxy Forge 3 :
If you create a template within Galaxy Forge and choose PlanetOwnerIsRace the editor throws an error.
To avoid this you have to edit your templates by hand. but if do this and want to change your map (eg. relocate some planets) the template is broken afterwards and instead of "PlanetOwnerIsRace" it show "invalid" in the template definition.
In the Galaxy Forge 1.1 there was not this problem. I stumble across this cause i added a new planet to an old map and now the template no longer works.
After playing with it, doing exactly what was said, I can get it to show up, if i open up a current map aready made and edit it from there, and add a number by it, Otherwise whenever i add a map, 90% of them disapear, and yes i do increase the number on the manifest and add the name in it.
But Yes, I can make maps and see/play them no problem, So i'll leave it at that, just a little buggy with starting positions when adding more players.
Yea I get the same issue and maps that I manually add templates to via notepad either cause a crash on startup, or are playable but no templates show up at all.
