I'm giving up on one of my big secrets here so please read and think about it
So, as advent illum spamer fan, i always luved to send them alone crushing fleets until the horrible marza came
At first i cryed because my little illums died so fast, but then i realised, GOD! advent has big shields, advent has a great mothership advent has guardians!
So the tip is ^^ either you have a mothership with the lvl 3 of shield regeneration, or mothership with lvl 2 regeneration and guardians, but you NEED antimater, you'll see how fun it is to see a TEC send his marza alone on illum spam and send his missile barage ... all you have to do is to use shield regeneration (lvl 3) 2 times on your illums while the missile barrage is in progress and you'll see ... god my illums survived and they took 0 damage on hull and have full shield! (need to improve those shield a bit so the mother is more effective)

(edit : the key to good advent fleets is generaly that, a good use of the shields, vasari has hulls, armor, phase missiles, EGG 6 and many fucking anoying stuffs, TEC has hoshikos, armor, hull, and marza, dunov, kol, ADVENT has fucking good SHIELDING, use it damnit, advent has halcyon with the energy weapon boost, the rapture, radiance with laser (almost as good as a marza if you use a malice stacked with it, advent has guardians, repultion, advent has the subjugator check the ability of this one, makes the ship on witch its used impossible to disable ... advent has revelation ... don't even need a scoot with that crap, advent has destra ... that crap goes over 33 dps fully upgraded with a halcyon, advent has illums who has 3 beam lasers (goes over 28 dps with halcyon and a fucking nice range ... advent has the steal ship ability with rapture, advent has disciple with steal antimater and give it back to ships, advent has repultion ... advent has culture with 2 labs ... eco start means culture almost faster then trade, advent can build structures faster for higher cost, advent has a pirate bounty boost, advent has some fucking good abilitys guyz, use them! and stop crying over vas OP or TEC marza OP, advent is the best! RIP if you don't believe me cuz i'll kick your ass so hard you'll end up facing your own anus.)
Or you could just use the Revalation's Reverie to inturrupt Missile Barrage.
well that works too but it means starting with revelation, and its not a good start, the mother is essential to most advent strats, guardians don't stand long with their shielding in battle if mother isnt there to regenerate the shields, revelation is nice but not enough, if you have 2 caps the best isnt revelation + mother, mother + radiance or halcyon is much better, revelation isnt good enough, and no one would suspect a mothership to counter a marza thats part of the strat, surprise can make you win battles
I believe Radiance is terrible compared to Revelation man. Revelation has 3 great abilities. Radiance lvl 6 ability pretty much sucks now that Malice was nerfed. Reverie is sweet, Guidance is sweet, and lvl 6 ability is perfect for those pesky 6k hp planets. Revelation and halcyon are both my 2nd cap choices. Radiance may work as first cap on a really small map, but most of the time Mothership is better first choice anyway.
Youw ant Radiance to be worth it? Give it better damage for lvl 6 ability, something more in the line of missile barrage. And make the taunting ability work on strikecraft first, and only onf rigates if there are no strikecraft in range. That would actually make it a very good ability, isntead of what it is now: USELESS.
1 malice + 1 radiance laser = any lrf dead
radiance laser alone means you hurt badly lrf and can finish off fast with strike craft

Yes but pre 1.05 Malice had no upper limit to the size of the fleet that it affected. It just did a smaller amount of damage to the whole fleet. So hit it with the lvl 6 ability of the battleship and watch all of his frigs go boom in the whole fleet!! That used to save my ass countless times against hard AIs in SP
Radiance alone does crap, it's very hard to aim, and you must hit something very tough so it survives the duration of the effect, else the rest of the untis dont take full damage. Radiance + Malice si better, but limited in targets. Overall if you have to use Malice and a lvl 6 ability to achieve on a smaller scale something that Marza can do alone, then I think it is not as great as it should be.
yea true its not, but TEC's marza has great firepower, but so known that only noobs get caught
radiance is good because he can cripple antimater and laser packed stuff, advents biggest power is their defence, the attack comes from focused fire, if you don't loose a ship it dosent matter if the dude has 10 times your fleet
you should try a laser+malice+illum focused on a cap ^^ 1 cap goes down, 2 fleet takes big damage on the ass after malice
edit : anyway thats not the point, i personaly do not use malice, i'm a shield regen fan, and i build 1 cap on 90% of my games, the progen, the fact is that progen and drone + illum + guardian pretty much means you'll kick a kodiak+hoshiko+percheron spam, guardians and progen makes your illums pretty much invincible if you have antimater, marza won't work and fighters won't touch you enough to destroy your fleet, use a little repultion to kick kods out, easy stuff, much less ressources to spend then a TEC fleet, and fucking much more powerfull. 4 levels of antimater regenerate boost isnt useless and is worth the cost along with 4 shield and 4 hull, 2 weapon boost with a halcyon is enough for firepower.

Burn Anti-matter is ALSO an interrupt. a good one too, it does alot of damage. and it comes on a ship thats tough and has good gunnery. also, there's nothing wrong with Cleansing Brilliance. It nukes cap ships for 2k damage and deals splash damage to enemy ships standing in the wrong spot. Good deal in my opinion, even if it doesn't quite live up to the glory days of "i killed 60 Javelis in 1 shot with my Malice+Brilliance combo".
Yes I do. But I still prefer Reverie, it can stop enemy from jumping, and it will put em in tranze so they dont regenerate anything.
You can't compare reverie and detonate anti-matter directly. They're two separate abilities that happen to have some overlap in purpose. You can't just say one is better than the other, because they have very different strengths and weaknesses. Detonate anti-matter won't stop an enemy from fighting or retreating, and (in the long-run) reverie has next to no effect on capital ship abilities (like nanos). Sure, it will disable it for a few moments, but the enemy's anti-matter is still regenerating so in the long-run it won't affect how much it can use the ability. This is where detonate anti-matter shines, actually reducing how much you see of that ability.
Against an evacuator (or should I say, against a Vasari opponent ) I always get a radiance second to deal with nanos.
Detonate am doesnt do damage unless there is am pool right?
it does damage as long as the ship produces antimatter. specificly for suport ships, capitals, and LFs. Not sure if the amount of AM present effects how much damage is done though.

advent used to be my favorite race, now they are near my least and capitols is the reason. late game the best caps are the ones that have aoe abilities i.e. flak burst, missle barrage, and of course planet suct. though not aoe suct is a kick in the balls to rival even marzabation. advent just dont get any lvl 6 abilities on their usable caps that are comparable to the power of missle or planet suct.
now you may say TYR!!! isnt shield regen, malice, amply energy and tele push all aoe!? now ive been thinkin why i dont get the same results anymore from these abilities... obviously malice was nerf F that! tele push? flak burst puts it to shame but its still quite useful, shield regen? well shield still owns but with 1.1+ top skilled micro will require you to divide your fleet all over the grav well and you often cant hit all your ships anymore.
since advent dont get planet suct you need extra caps for bombing this is how i like to do it. 1 progen is manditory anyone who argues that is retarded, the colo cost cut is amazing for eco and is decent replacement for nuetrals some maps, plus shield regen is great for KLs strat and battle ball strats. a halcyon or 2 is 2nd 90% of time because the beam weapon bonus makes you ships way stronger, and tele push helps the air war greatly. radiance is the only other advent ship viable, and its only because detonate anti-matter helps couter planet suct and marzabaters. i usually pick radiance in 1v1 maps to counter nano-bomb.
anyone who picks other advent caps is prolly retarded and is prolly gonna post under me argueing to the end they have a great strat but we all know thats bogus because we have all tried many strats with revelation and rapture in skilled games and lets face it we looked stupid if we wherent just down right humiliated
Interesting that's all you need to counter the Marza's missle barrage? What about if you threw a Rapture into the mix with Vengenace? Wouldn't that almost kill the Marz? Or am I missing something?

no contest that the build order on Advent caps is almost always Mothership->Halcyon->Radiance as the first 3 (if you didn't just open Radiance on a rush map where it will be your only cap ship).
its the 4th ship I'm asking about then. I usually pick a Rapture. Its actually got nice frontal arc gunnery so its pretty good at taking out other cap ships in gun fights. The support abilities it offers I think are probably better than adding a 2nd Halcyon (since I'm pretty sure the weapon cooldown aura doesn't stack) or Radiance (since Rapture actually has more front arc guns than a Radiance, though its not as durable). The squadron buff aura is very worthwhile though since by the time you've got 4 cap ships you're almost definitely working it out with a half dozen Drone Hosts or more.
am I wrong? I mean, the 4th cap is kinda necessary for Advent just for the bombing power because you don't have the suction or raze planet. I think Rapture and Revelation have the highest planet bombing damage of any advent cap ships as well.
eh, its a minor point anyway. you can probably even get away with just building 4 or 5 Purge Vessels instead of a 4th cap once you've got Progen. Halcyon, and Radiance up to decent levels.
eh...what would happen if you dropped vengeance on the guardian that is shielding the whole fleet that is getting missile barraged?

I don't think that factors into the vengeance damage.....would be interesting if you had 16 cap ships with vengeance on auto cast though...
don't think it would work since the guardians don't take direct damage from the missile barrage, they share 33% of the fleet in their shield, and take the damage from the barage but the first 33% shared isnt direct so vengeance wouldnt work
tyr is right, my biggest problem as advent player is bombing, but when using my strat i do not run around the well, thats my biggest power! i simply go for 10 guard 1 progen 1 halcyon, a illum and disciple spam, disciple go for carriers while illum guard and caps stand position and fight out the fleet
i won't say anything more because that would be giving my secret but i kicked enforcer fleets and a fucking huge bunch of different fleets like that, as long as i have antimater you won't win over this fleet, exept of course if you have 5 ships for me 1 but that never happens T_T almost (i also kicked a fleet with 5 repair bays around it ^^)
Don't forget Radiance is quite durable with level 3 armor and animosity can pull some heat off other caps.
