WHY?!?
i could have this wrong and i hope i do, but from wat ive seen its gonna be on xbox 360.
it was a game unique to playstation and now theyre gonna put it on 360. Even though it may increase their profits... i still argue this point.
i dont see any games exclusive to xbox comin out on ps3!
What point are you arguing? Why does it negatively affect you if you have a ps3? It doesn't. That whole thing about claiming exclusives is just the customer trying to rationalize his own decision of which console to buy.
Frankly, Square has made some of the best games of all time, and if they want to expand I say good for them! More cash flow for future projects. Since this is quite a good deal for MS, hopefully they can do a proper port to xbox360 so square doesn't get bad rep in that community.
Playstation has lost a lot of exclusives during PS3, Ace Combat was one of them too. One might argue that PS3 sales have not been big enough to convince publishers to keep making exclusives. Then again, Square-Enix recently bought Eidos, so it could be just another sign of SE trying to reach western game markets.
FF is def going to the xbox. They announced it at E3 last year. Being an xbox owner, I'm pretty damn happy.
Yes. That's because then it wouldnt be an exclusive. Just as FFXIII is no longer exclusive.
Also, that's what happens when you're the #3 console maker; your exclusives go away. Just like RE4 was ported from GC to PS2. If you can't accept that this happens to the #3 console maker, buy the #2 or #1 consoles instead.
Is it going to be a sequel for anything, or is it completely stand-alone in it's "own" setting, as FF tends to be?
I believe that XIII is standing alone, as they tend to, but still being part of the universe of XII and Tactics Advance (and a few other games). Can't think of the name of it off the top of my head... has something to do with crystals I think. Someone better informed will sling it up here soon, I'm sure.
It's new, afaik. The only real continuity they've ever had was X-2.
This is fine as long as we (PS3 users) don't get screwed over downloadable content (Fallout 3, Oblivion). Which I'm quite certain we won't considering Square is a Japanese entity, but you never know with MS..
/inner-cynic
Yes, it is standalone.
Woho!
My buddy lent me his ps3 for a while but I own an xbox. One of the biggest problems I had with ps3 is installing games takes way to long. I dont know why i have to wait so long to play a game on consol. The other thing I hated was playstation network I felt after dealing with playstation network if microsoft want to make xbox live $15 more id still stick with it. I dont get the whole qore thing, like $120 grants u exclusive videos and demos thats more then a years worth of xbox live like by $70, a whole games worth.
Now I work at a video store and renting blue ray wasnt a bad thing, But as its stands I Love my 360 it has exclusives that are awsume. At my work if someones looking to buy a system I always go 360, ps3, and wii. The truth is I used to be a ps2 diehard back when the first xbox was out. I bought it thinking that it was going to suck and I was going to hate it. Insted my ps2 kept breaking and the xbox stood tall. I got my 360 within a month of them coming out little bit befor red ring was everywhere. To this day my 360 only had the problem of a small hard drive and i keep filling it up little cute 20 gig. I want to suport the Playstation because of the games but I cant at all suport the system. I want to, but when I here sony laying off over 10,000 employs. I think that sony playstation branch has been shook. I cant see it going away of or going away for good unless the market really crashes.I did get play the only 3 exclusives I want to play heavenly sword, Metal geat, little big planet. FYI I dont like halo or resistance Idk played to many shooters on pc Have to high of standerds when it comes to shooters thanks to half life. Dont evern get me started on the wii and yes I did own one.
So the fact that bigger playstation names are going to 360. SO what its a good thing. If you were a dev wouldnt you want to get your game in the most hand as possible?? I am no dev but I know if I was I would say yes. on a side note I cant see etihor system being able to handle sins... unless... well maybe... it would be tricky top bumpers can toggle your planets d-pad can cycile your uints triggers can zoom in and out maybe it might work
It is cvompletely stand-alone and just for everyone's own knowledge...Square is also working on FFXIII-Versus which is still slated at a PS3 exclusive. The only game that is being ported, as of right now is FFXIII. This is no big deal. For those of us that are die-hard FF lovers (and fan-boys, as well), the PS3 version will be better anyways.
A: the PS3 version will be on a blu-ray formatted disk...the XBOX 360 won't
B: the PS3 version will more-than-likely have more added content, as well as downloadable. Square is just trying to branch out and see what the reception will be on the XBOX platform.
C: the most energy and time is going into the PS3 version, with the port-over being second hand, as of now.
In other words...don't get your panties in a bunch...it will still be better on the PS3, and look at it this way...God of War 3 is still exclusive!!!
yes ... good for them.
lol ... my point was ... FF series has always been exclusive for PS.
i see a lot of games that come out on ps3, r also comin out on xbox 360. might aswell just buy 360 in the end. Personally id rather not even if this is the case (based on personal experience with xbox360 even if it is #1 or #2).
ALSO... the game Star ocean ... was on ps2 ... now theres a sequel but guess wat... its only on xbox 360. now WHY is it only on xbox 360 and not on ps3. (i just checked the site to be sure).
If it was a matter of increasing profits then STAR Ocean wouldve been on ps3 also.
this makes sense, obviously not as bad as i thought it was ... since u put it that way. but i want to add soem more argument (above). =P
and..... thank god to god of war still being an exclusive!
At least PS3 still gets the game. Nintendo didn't just lose exclusivity when the series shifted to PS1, they lost the franchise entirely.
A: Doesn't matter in my opinion, even if the game is too large there's always multidisc which has worked well enough for Square before.
B: Downloadable content on PS3? ROFLMAO, go look at what's happening out there atm, right now PS3 isn't getting downloadble content due to the crappy network they use for it, if it's for additional content xbox live is totally outowning it.
C: Problem with PS3 is the structure of the console, it's around 10x easier to make a well performing game for the xbox than the PS3 and this really shows. The PS3 is WAAAAAY more powerful than the xbox but why isn't it outperforming the xbox, just check the graphic comparisons on gamespot for example. In terms of PCs I'd say the PS3 is a quadcore with sli and Xbox is a singlecore with a old graphics card, but damn they are performing equal =P
Yes I used to be a PS2 fanboy earlier I even have 2 PS2 consoles but there is no way I'm ever going to buy to a buy a PS3:
1. The cost from the start to now, NOT worth it
2. Friend of mine has both consoles, he barely touches the PS3 and just buys everything for the 360 instead.
3. Another friend of mine sold his PS3 and bought a 360 due to friend above
4. Both consoles have hardware issues, thing is I could prolly get 2x xboxes for the price of one ps3
For reasons why Sony exclusive games are coming to the 360? Well check GTA, MS payed a ton for the DLC pack that is coming out now. And damn that DLC system they use is working well.... I've spent almost as much on DLC as on retail games, and like I mentioned earlier it's easier to develop for the 360 than Sony. I have one more reason to hate sony myself and that's their support.... I have never seen such crap customer support as Sony not that I can say anything positive about MS support either but Sony ranks lower.
im no pro in specs and all but wat i do no is that, xbox has had quite a few issues with it (one being the red ring of death or wateva its called). the other day my cousin bought a 360.... (he only bought it coz it WAS so cheap... i repeat cheap)
- first one turned off on its own .. having to wait a while to be able to turn it bak on
- second one kept on freezing...
- 3rd one did exactly the same as the first
... so in the end he gave up on it and got the refund.
everyone that i know was kinda turned off by this incident.just seemed too unreliable for me. but on the other hand PS3 has given me no hassles watsoever.
we all gonna be biased in this sort of situation but gonna be influenced in one nway or anyother to go a diff way.
Though the only time I encountered overheating was when the cat decided the warmth made a good place to sleep...
LOL...gotta love the cats.
I bought one of those attachable extra fan things for the 360, and haven't had any heat issues. A friend of mine got a ps3 recently, but so far the only game she's played on it was Heavenly Sword.
I don't know, seeing what's going on with the ps3 DLC doesn't look very good. Bethesda isn't even doing it for ps3 at all, just 360 and PC. There was that whole deal with BioShock looking like crap on the ps3, as well.
I just told her if I ever got a ps3, I'd just play the exclusives on it, and get the rest for the 360. And, at the moment, the only exclusives that interest me are MGS4 and God of War 3. :/
Not exactly. Prior to FF7 they were Nintendo exclusives. FF7 and FF8 were both on PC in addition to PS, and FF11 (granted, not exactly a normal FF game) is multiplatform. So really, the only Sony exclusives in the mainline series have been 9, 10, 10-2, and 12.
There are also a number of side-series in the franchise on non-Sony systems.
The major RRoD issue was resolved last year, and all machines built since then using the 175W PSU (or lower) don't have it. Granted, there might be other issues, but I've had none with the one I got in late summer. As others have said, your cousin was probably putting it in a very poorly ventilated area; if there truly were a bad production run it'd already be news.
Alright, to begin with I'm not gonna get into the age old argument with you over xbox v ps. It's obvious that you are a fan of the xbox and it's obvious that I am a fanboy...so, I'm not going down that road again for the 10,000 sth time.
Now, to answer you remarks from earlier...and I will do this on a completely unbiased position and just by stating known facts.
A: If you like multi-disks, then this is fine for you. Myself, I would much rather have everything on 1 disk...and it is proven that the blu-ray format can hold more and also project better quality than the regular format that xbox uses. You put the blu-ray (PS3) on a tv that can handle it (60" full 1080p) and the differences are amazing.
B: I've personally never seen or tried the xbox dlc so cannot comment on it...I would imagine that that system works well and is smooth (hell xbox had a 2 year head-start on PS), it should be better and smoother. What I can comment on is the PS3 online stuff. Yes, at first it was not much to talk about...but is getting better and better every month. There are plenty of DLC already available for use from the PS Store. I have downloaded extra content for MGS4, for Motorstorm, and for other smaller games...I have also purchased and downloaded older PS games that I used to love to play years ago. I haven't had any problems with any of these downloads. I have a good internet connection and everything runs smoothly. You have either never truthfully downloaded anything yourself and are just going off of what someone else told you or you are blinded by your apparent "love" for xbox that you cannot even give an unbiased look at the other platform. Notice my 1st sentence in this section (B.) and see how I offered an unbiased view for the xbox??? And i am one of the biggest fanboys that you will ever meet.
C: The reason that the PS3 isn't way "out-performing" the xbox has been well documented everywhere...Developers are still learning the true curve on developing for the PS3...every generation of games coming out for the PS3 has been better and better. It takes time for devs to really be able to produce games that can unleash the power available through the PS3...it isn't gonna happen in 2 days.
As for your other comments...I'm not even gonna lower myself to argue those...If you don't want to spend a little extra $ for the PS3, then don't spend it...who really cares, I don't...I'm completely happy with mine and I am glad of the investment. In fact, I have one of the very 1st editions that cost $600 USD and has the full backwards compatibility. And I am still completely happy with the fact that I dished out that much $ for it.
So, you can keep you cheaper little xbox with your "better" dlc...my PS3 suits me just fine.
No disrespect to you. I mean this to the marketing machine that is Sony.
I get so TIRED of hearing this argument. Oh our machine is really powerful the devs are still learning to really milk it's potential. They said this about the PS2 also. If it's so powerful it should be wiping the floor with the 360 but it isn't. Fact is Sony has gone away from what made the original Playstation so succesfull. It was a step forward in graphics because they focused on 3D and it was EASY to program for. The devs LOVED it. I had a PS1 and bought into the hype of PS2. PS3? Not this time.
It's all about money in the end. If it looks the same on the 360 as on a PS3, but it's 10 times easier (and thus cheaper in resources invested) to make for the 360, they're going to lean towards the 360. It becomes irrelevant what the ps3 is capable of
this is a good point anny and that is why some of the exclusives are now becoming portable to the 360 as well...it's a fact of life.
And mbaron, I wasn't giving that argument for Sony's sake...God knows Sony has screwed the pooch too many times to count. However, I have seen comments and remarks from some of the big developers that they still haven't been able to fully harness the power of all of the cells inside the PS3. Each set of games that is developed for the PS3 harnesses more of that power and it is only a matter of time until we start seeing the full potential of what the PS3 can offer. And this is not an argument...it is pure fact and I am stating this from quotes and remarks given in several different publications and web-sties on interviews from varying developers.
I can tell you personally from just a graphical perspective that Oblivion looks better on my 60" 1080p on my PS3 than it did on the same tv on my friends 360. Even he noticed a huge difference and said that it look way better and he is a die hard 360 man.
