The ONLY thing that I really want to change about the game is the "Let's kick some ___" voice clip on the Marza. Is there an easy way to change it? I would even use one of the other Marza audio clips if it could work.
Exactly! And besides, what's this about toning down some mild cussing? I thought this game was called "Sins of a Solar Empire"?
I mean, we should see Marza captains dressed in wine-stained togas, idly giving extermination orders for whole planets (possibly involving lions in some form), with several captured, and naked, Advent admirals lounging at the base of their golden command seats!
I'm not precisely sure about the scale of these ships (would Craig like to enlighten us?) but I don't believe you'd be able to see bodies flying out...they'd just be too small!
Garrrr, spoken like a true Marza Captain!!!
I find myself more of a Dunvo Captain myself.
Well you can use strikecraft as reference point, if you imagine they are as big as modern fighters, you might be able to see something on maximum zoom, but i bet it would be difficult to even recognize it as a human, much less as an alien
Why does that bother you? I think it's great. Just be glad that one of the ship voices doesn't say "F-Yeah" at some point (see Unreal Tournament 3).
If you're offended by vulgarity like the word arse, then you might be better suited for a game titled something like "Carebears and Friends" or "Bible stories" or some such. Also, I suggest never subscribing to cable television or going to anything other than G-rated movies. You can also find some very very naughty stuff on the Internet like, <gasp>, naked women and men and women touching each other in various ways, so you might want to reconsider your Internet subscription.
Stardock and Ironclad, please don't succumb to ninnies and make all of your games G-rated. What happens when someone complains about all the violence in these war games?
I think you're doing your children a disservice by trying to insulate them from vulgarity and adult content. I'm sure they're hearing all of it everyday in high school. Besides, when they get to college, every other sentence is liable to contain the evil, horrible F-woyd in in some sort of way.
I plan to imagine that I can see such a greusome scene next time I watch a ship blow up.
Look, you just make a texanim texture containing bodies in various gruesome postures, then some other debris like pipes, desks, lockers, dogs and cats and then spew hundreds of those when a ship gets ripped open! They'd be very small, but they'd be there and trust me, it would add a lot to the visceral feeling of a brutal space battle.
Sure, it's only 2D sprites, but then again, your computer gets not to explode.
Am I sensing an update to your explosions mod ManSh00ter?
yeah, exactly what i was getting at - look at the size of a window
Well, that's why you make them larger than actual size. Large enough to be distinguished when zoomed in, but not so large as to break immersion.
I'll definitely test this out for the next version of the Volumetric. Nothing speaks "damage" as seeing crew flying out of a hole ripped in the hull.
It'll be weird with the Xin though... space full of frozen calamari.
Is this thread officialy hijacked?
Well if those are normal window sizes, these ships are very small....
Although I'm used to Battlefleet Gothic scale where battleships are 1+ miles long.
I'm a Jarrasul Evacuator captian.
The way I see it is this: yes, I can live with swearing, but I don't have to like it. It's like murderers. Yes they exist, and I can live with that, but that dosen't mean I find joy in the fact that people are killed. I personally do not enjoy swearing, but there is no way around it, so I got over it. I have never sworn, and I don't plan to, but that dosen't make me a sissy, it just means that I have values.
Samurye.
You do realize that CanadaMan will want ones with flying Grunts for SotP, don't you? After all, nothing says "victory" like dying Covenant.
A Ricola then.

I'm like this, as well. I don't mind the occasional swear in a game or movie, but I don't like when every other word is. On the flip side of all this, some form of swearing can actually be appropriate in certain situations. Too much censoring in these cases makes me feel like I'm not being treated as an adult but rather a child with sensitive ears who can't bear to here a few swear words. That I like even less than games and movies with a little too much cursing
Die Hard is a perfect example wear swering in the righ places is appropriate.
COUGH DROPS ARE FOR WIMPS!
Sinister...
i guess a moderator should move this post now. the original topic was already answered and now its digressed into an opinion thread.
haha.
hahahaa.
im looking at the lion king again, i just saw that a few days ago and did not see that at ALL.

There is a lot of that hidden stuff in most disney films. I once found a page listing most of them and I couldn't believe what I was reading.
I think I'm going to weigh in on the keep-space-clean side of things... not so much because I'm thinking of the children but because I generally associate swearing with immaturity. I like my flagship officers to maintain the decorum their station warrants, they can swear tastefully in private when they're NOT on the comm.
