Greetings all,
Thank you for all the posts of bug feedback and suggestions regarding Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment. Ironclad has been hard at work reading through the posts and working on the next update. Even though you won't see us post very often, we are paying attention, so please be patient with us.
Currently we're planning on an Entrenchment beta update next week - as always we'll be aiming for Wednesday or Thursday. The team needs more time to rework how the mines function in the game so that we get a more balanced system in place.
I'll edit this post with more info as I get it in.
Changelist has been submitted. New ICO going up tonight. It's coming soon, hopefully this week
Wewt! Good update
God, I'm glad of that. I'm off to Iraq on the 4th and I was a little worried the update would be postponed and I wouldn't get to enjoy it.
Whew!
Definitely GREAT news and thanks for all of the great and hard work guys.
News sites are reporting that Entrenchment will be released on Feb 11th! Really....Nothing over here. According to the report Stardock made a press statement saying this...Besides Beta 2 isn't even out yet...
http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/01/27/sins-of-a-solar-empire-entrenchment-gets-final-release-date/
It's already picked up by a few other sites as well...Any official word on this or was it a miscommunication?
Well...
As I said in my original post - I would LOVE to have mines in game! Sure!
But I am sceptic that concept of mines simply does not fit the Sins game play and that will ultimately compromise the very stuff we love about this awesome title...
Now, just like rest of you, I am waiting for Beta 2 to hopefully prove me wrong
Bring it on!
And be sure that I will be one of the first to say WOW OMFG AWESOME if mines make sense this time around
The news sites pulled it out of their collective butts. See reply #3: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/337823
Of course, when that arbitrary date is either changed or ignored, some people will inevitably declare it's a delay. Silliness.
How do you know? Doyou see the changelist somewhere?
/confused
No no, I meant Blair gave a good update on what's going on Like that they're still hoping for this week.
Ah i see. Thought my search-fu suddenly left me
I hope the update will be today, i have a game scheduled
Is the changelist going to be posted somewhere before the patch is up for download? Pretty please?
Can't wait to see what sort of changes they've decided to implement for mines and starbases.
You'll have to bribe Yarlen to post the change log, which he probably will later today. But if you must try a bribe, he likes raw bacon dipped in peanut butter.

Looks like it won't be needed.
Brb, still picking up jaw from the floor.
Just got done reading the change log...man, it's gonna be fun to get back into Entrenchment now.
I think the best change is the multiple targets per bank.
That change has major potential. Obviously it'll be a big Starbase boost, but if they set it so that Cap Ships can also engage multiple targets like that, it could change the game considerably.
yes, it definitely could. I also like the fact that the SB's build slower in neutral wells and even slower in enemy controlled wells. I wish they would've done something with the VAS superweapon allowing ships to jump into any planet, though...that effectively screws you out of the whole Entrenchment philosophy.
Oh well, maybe they will for the final release, although not likely now.
Eh, at least it'll give people something else to complain about. I'm tired of explaining why Deliverance Engine is the best superweapon Well, used to be.. second best, now.
yeah, I play the Vas exclusively, and this just gives their superweapon a very decided edge as far as I am concerned...I will definitely be going up the military tech tree as quickly as possible now.
Its usefulness would really depend on how much attention the target player is paying (in MP anyway). You see the shell in travel, and you get a notice when it's fired. Shell travel time + fleet travel time should leave the target with enough time to mobilize a defense. But that gets worse if you use a decoy shot on the other side of the empire
oh yeah, the possibilities are endless if you only have 3 or 4 weapons up...there have been times when I have had 3 up at once...now I just may try and build more than that to really get the enemy rushing to get some ships back.
If I send in a small Kamikaze fleet with each shot of say (1 cap, 3-4 carriers, and 5 or so Enforcers + a few smaller ships), I could really reap some major damage. Plus, add in the fact that when my fleet arives, so does a superweapon shot that effectively disables all structures, so that my small kamikaze fleet can do even more damage.
Oh, the possibilities!!!
Would be nice to have ability to disable superweopens in options menu.
