Hey people, time to get your cyber hands a little dirty!
Everyone likes to imagine their dream starship, whether so you an play with it on galciv2 or not it's always something we sci-fi fans love to think about. Well now's your time to share.
It doesn't matter if you can not draw for nutts! Just pour your heart and soul into a drawing or picture or model of your dream ship or ships. Let go and have fun, use any program you like. You can even just describe it to the rest of us if you like through text. For those of you with a more creative swing you can even give us the full cinemas experience as you tour us around you ship on a MPEG, AVI, or whatever file.
Just go nutts with it people, lets get Creating!

Akkan, yeah I saw that. Nice. What program is that, that you're using? Blender? Or just some free thing you found?
I use Pro-Engineer and I'm trying to get better with Maya...hence my major..Digital Art.

Yeah it's just drawn on paper. I've got other capital ships, frigates, cruisers, etc. as well. I don't know how to model at all though...would already be making a mod with them if I knew how to do like...anything.
Gotcha, I don't know how to mod or anything and probably wouldn't, I just like making ship models and plan to do so as my job after college (hopefully!!)
I'd be happy to try to make that ship if I can for you? It would be done with Pro-Engineer 3.0...a CAD program.

Another thing a have issues with is drawing things in 3d (I can picture what it should look like in my head but i fail if a try to draw it!). You can see that in the picture, the only thing I successfully 3d'ed was the turret deck lol.
And I can provide you with all your codding needs!!!

Oh yeah, i'll improvise...I actually started it before you answered lol. So I have the front guns done...and i'm working on random detail right now. Should be done by Friday. Ill post a pic maybe tomorrow of the progress. One question....what colors you want it to be?
Can something from a CAD program be made into a mod....I can convert the file into a .obj but it may lose features and stuff...color...?
Another Question: Do you want the turrets that you did in 3d to be on both top and bottom of the platform?
Ok Admiral Kiernyc, here it is with 2 hours of work. It is obviously not done and I did not add colors because I didn't know what you wanted. Much more detail will make it better and colors will make it much better

Srive-Class Battleship...I named it wrong when I first made it and named it Srive-Clan Battleship. Which one?
There is two views of it....one wireframe and the other smoothshaded with the default color.
I've gotten a little further but I still need to know what colors. After I add some colors, I'll post another pic, which won't be of the final version but will give you something to drool over haha.

Jeez you all got so ahead of me lol! I really don't know what colors, I'll leave that up to you, suffice to say it shouldn't be happy-go-lucky. (Kinda dark and sinister you know?)
Turret platform should be level and just have turrets on top. Also, making the ship not as wide would be awesome. Should be somewhat narrow.
Alright, I was thinking black, metallic gray and this sinister green color for the colors. A hint of diff colors for windows and whatnot.
I'll delete the turrets on the bottom part of the platform and making it narrower shouldn't be too hard as long as everything works. This program has a nasty habit of, if you change something, you have to change a lot of other things....i may not get another pic up tonight, lots of homework. But i'll try
it's all about scale and shadows. decide on a light angle and put in appropriate shadows. make farther things smaller, so if you look between two things (like gun turrets) you should still see a decent amount of ship.
Alright Admiral Keirnyc, here's another version of it. I have yet to make the turrets, some detail and finish the top part of it as well as the underbelly and some random doodads.

First of all, that first one is epic! It's like the god-child of the Daedalus! The split bow is a really cool touch too.
And the Asgard ship is awesome too. It looks kinda like the ?Vliskner? class. I never know how to spell those asgard ship names. The O'Neill is easy, just remember, 2 Ls!
