Okay, it's not really one mod to rule them all, but that got you in here didn't it. It's more like a mod for all mods. Confused yet? Well before you start replying with hateful words let me explain. Basically I have been throwing around an idea for several weeks and now I am looking for the opinion of the public before I take the next step. For the past several months I have been working on the Mad Scientist Mod found here and have been thinking of what steps I could take to make it stand out. While it is small potatoes in comparison to the bigger names, I have so far been unable to find a mod like it being as dedicated to the research portion of the game, and so in being unique it has also given me an opportunity that is equally unique. Making it universally compatible and mergeable with other mods, or a least as universal as it can be. The steps I would take after said permisson was given by the other mods would be to make my mod compatible with theirs on a mod to mod basis, and offering each file to the public. I do not plan nor will I redistrubute their files, but offer only my files made compatible to be copied over their mod like a third party add-on. In short, a person would download the mod of their choice, and if they choose to do so, they download the third party addon for that particular mod that I have offered up. In this fashion the two mods are, even though used together, still independent of one another, and are free to change their own creation as they please. As I have stated eariler I will require permission from the other modders to proceed with this further, as I wish not to step on any toes and fill my PM's with hate mail, as funny as that might sound. Now, for the reason you are here. I basically need people to tell me whether it is a awesome idea or that I'm a complete moron. If you have read this far then you have earned the right to speak freely as far as I am concerned. This venture will take a lot of work, and I need to first make sure it is even worth doing in the first place. My idea here is not to merge with any other mod, but to give the players of my mod along with other mods the choice to choose the combination of mods they wish to play. Lets say people wish to play my mod with Bailknights graphics mod. I help provide that option without them having to so much copy and paste my mod over theirs. Now lets say they wish to play my mod with Sins Plus without Bailknights Graphics Mod. Well, I provide that option as well. What I am doing is providing a way for players of my mod to be able to enjoy another mod of their choice at the same time, and not joining my mod with another. As of this moment I have no plans to do such. I just believe in giving people the freedom of choice.

For what it's worth you have my permission to make my mods, (Silveressa's empowerment and More hangar space both of which will be redone for Entrenchment) compatible and mergable with your mod. I liek the additional focuses on tech you've added and changing the defense to fleet.
Very Interesting. Point defense cannons from the Empowerment mod would be interesting as I would need to create additional research so they progress along with everything else (rate of fire//Damage//etc), and for the More Hanger Space mod making a total of 6 squads to the hanger defenses as well as the research contained in my mod to add more fighters and bombers per squad should quell the urges of any fighter fanatic. (+9 per squad for Tec and Vasari or +12 per squad for Advent after proper research plus original number of fighters per squad times 6 squads = one hell of a swarm)
hee hee, 7 Deadly Sins already rules all mods.

I recently did very much the same thing only with planets and moons.
if you are not adverse to the idea maybe we could merge the two ideas?
mine is more a merge of other small mods besides sins plus into one nice mod and a few size and other tweeks by me, but its eminently mergable took me 15 min to merge it wiyh soa2 v0.3b. ( only took so long cuse I fogot a few files )

@diresaint: A am willing to come up with a version of my mod compatible for yours, however, my idea here is not to merge with any other mod, but to give the players of my mod along with other mods the choice to choose the combination of mods they wish to play. Lets say people wish to play my mod with Bailknights graphics mod. I help provide that option without them having to so much copy and paste my mod over theirs. What I am doing is providing a way for players of my mod to be able to enjoy another mod of their choice at the same time, and not joining my mod with another as I wish to remain independant at this time. As of this moment I have no plans to do such. I just believe in giving people the freedom of choice and that is my aim here.
I am acually surprised I have not receaved more feedback on this idea, as I thought it was a rather decent one. I thought people would be more into the freedom of it. I might decide to proceed anyways, as I am stoaked about it. As a favorate saying of mine goes, "In life it is better to ask forgiveness then permission."
I think that may be becuase Entrenchment is coming out soon and the modding commuity is mostly waiting on the final release before working on new mods/making their current ones compatible with Entrenchment. (Or messing around modding the beta of Entrenchment to test out mod concepts)
