In 2007 i created 2 fleets after getting inspired by too many ship designers to list them all here) - one for the Terrans and one for the Altarians.
In 2008 i followed the Ship Design Thread again with great interest, but was not able to participate because of r/l.
Now a new year has started. I think it's time to start a new thread where this year you and i all can show the ship designs we created.
It doesn't matter if they were done with Dread Lords, Dark Avatar or even with Twilight of the Arnor. Just show what you think you like to show.

2007 Ship Designs
2008 Ship Designs
I understand now. Well, both of your ship designs have definitely caught my eye and so did Midnightrunner's ship designs too.
Your ships that are above in the thread like the gold looking Viper, where can I find it?
Phew!
Finally done with the new ship-pack.
Since library upload is still broken, I made a new thread over in the modding forum. Go there for pics and download links.
Well...while much later then I had originally said. I do finally have some pictures to post.
First is Tiny hull, Dart light fight. I'm not a big fan of this design yet, I feel it needs some more work
The second has no name and is very, very much still a wip.
I like the outboard engines, and will keep them in some form. The center line engines I want to lose, those where just stuck there for an overall feel of the design. The front end I like but will tweak more so. And pretty much the body of it needs work.
Hello all,
i'm back after a long time of absence. You know - r/l and other hobbies have kept me quite busy so i didn't have enough time for GalCiv2 TotA and its shipbuilder.
However - i'm now finished with something new for this thread. Be prepared for updates which will follow soon ...
Best greetings
Midnightrunner
Hello,
here it comes - my new contribution to this thread.
I have finished a second fleet for the Wing Commander Universe and this time it will be the Kilrathi who get their full fleet of fighters, battleships, carriers, etc.
Enjoy the postings
Asjaka Class Heavy Bomber (Heavy Bomber Type 01)
The Asjaka Class Heavy Bomber was manufactured by the Imperial Spaceyards long before the Kilrathi-Terran War started. Almost obsolete at the beginning of the war, nevertheless it were Asjaka bombers who inflicted heavy casualties among the terran fleet during the McAuliffe Ambush in 2234. The Asjakas mass and armament resemble the Broadsword, it has also a crew of 5 but it is slightly slower because of the old aged engines.
Greetings
Bloodfang Class Scout
The Bloodfang is, simply put, the finest starfighter ever fielded by the Empire of Kilrah. Designed and continously revised only for the personal use of Crown Prince Thrakhath nar Kiranka and his elite guards, the Bloodfangs very existence represents a completely alien way of thinking. For the Kilrathi, the expense and difficulty of developing and producing a fighter in such small numbers is fully justified; Lord Thrakhath is their military leader and finest pilot, and it stands to reason that he deserves a weapon representative of his stature.
Dagh'triri Class Constructor
The Dagh'thriri Class constructor was designed to fill the gap in the Kilrathi fleet which had been done by modified freighters so far - a constructor able to build starbases and to supply them when they were built. The design was derived from the very succesful Dorkathi Class. The Space Miners only had to be slightly modified by removing their ore smelting devices and by adding gripper arms on each side of the fuselage.
Darket Class Light Fighter (Light Fighter Type 05)
These Kilrathi next-generation light fighters were introduced just after the Battle of Earth and it is believed by Confederation Intelligence that they were already under development before the attack that almost wiped out the human home world. They are considered to be far more dangerous than previous generations of light fighters and are treated with caution by Confederation pilots. Replacing the obsolete Sartha light fighter, the Darket is currently the Kilrathi forces front-line light fighter design. The performance of this new light fighter is far greater than the previous Sartha or Salthi fighters. It is faster on acceleration and more maneuverable than either of the previous light fighters. In addition to normal combat roles, the light fighters is often used in the reconnaissance and scout roles due to its speed.
Dorkathi Class Space Miner
The Dorkathi Class Space Miner was a big step forwards in Kilrathi Cargo Ship design. For the first time in Kilrathi history the designers had put together a spaceship with modular design so that one basic fuselage could be used for different roles. All this was made possible when Kilrathi marines boarded an unsuspecting terran Constellation class freighter during an ambush. The Kilrathi were able to seize the ship with only little damage on it.
Dorkir Class Freighter
Like its Terran counterpart, the Constellation Class, The Dorkir Class is a Jack-of-all-trades which uses multiple configurations (e.g. freighter/tanker - the most common layouts for this shipclass, command staff and troop transport). Though a vital part of any war effort, tactical treatment of the Dorkir is evidence their cultural disdain for support staff. One example: In an attempt to relieve the garrison at the Brimstone system during the human blockade, the Empire deployed dozens of lightly escorted Dorkir at once - hoping that a few might make it through to the planet.
Drakhri Class Medium Fighter (Medium Fighter Type 03)
The Kilrathi Drakhri fighter was the lightest "medium" fighter in the Kilrathi fleet with many considering the fighter to be a light fighter in reality. The fighter is lightly armed and armored but still can be a very dangerous opponent due to the fighters agility and top speed. Common attacks with the Drakhri fighter are swarm attacks of four to six fighters attacking a single Confederation fighter. In single combat, the fighter will find itself outmatched by modern Confederation medium fighters. The fighter is ideal for reconnaissance due to its speed and maneuverability and it makes an excellent scout craft.
Dralthi Class Medium Fighter (Medium Fighter Type 01)
This fighter is the first of a long line of Kilrathi fighters based on the same basic frame. The design has changed greatly over the fighter's history and is one of the longest designs in service of the Kilrathi military. Unfortunately the fighter was not up to the standards of comparable Confederation standards. While the twin lasers had greater range than the mass drivers on the Scimitar, the heavy guns of the Confederation medium fighter were far more effective in most situations. When the Confederation Rapier class fighter entered service, the Dralthi became effectively completely obsolete. Newer versions of the fighter both improved the armor and shields of the fighter.
Dubav Class Light Carrier
The Dubav class carrier is the first class of light carrier built from the keel up by the Kilrathi. Prior to this class, the Kilrathi navy operated the Fralthi class cruisers converted to light carriers as well as the Fralthra Class heavy cruiser having a sizeable fighter wing and being able to operate as light carriers themselves. While normally escorted by destroyers or corvettes, these ships are designed with the ability to operate independently as much as possible. State of the art vessels, these ships are designed to operate far from logistical support and are well armed for self defense with 2 anti-matter guns, 2 long-range missile launchers and 6 dual mount laser turrets.
Fralthi Class Light Cruiser (Light Cruiser Type 01)
While each was only 2,000 tons heavier than a Ralari class destroyer, Fralthis were somewhat faster and significantly better protected. These ships carried a crew of 480 Kilrathi and were the largest class of Kilrathi vessel commonly encountered during the Vega Campaign. Fralthis often were used to pursue enemy carrier groups or as planetary defense, as one Fralthi was on station to defend the Venice System at the end of the Vega Campaign. Fralthis continued to serve the Kilrathi Empire at least until the year 2268, the year in which they were replaced by the more powerful Fralthi II class Battle Cruisers, which had better firepower and better armor.
Fralthi II Class Battle Cruiser
The Kilrathi sought to replace the aging Fralthi Class light cruiser before the Battle of Earth in 2268. The result from years of design and planning was the new Fralthi II Class Battle cruiser. These battle cruisers were massed-produced and became the mainstay cruiser class for the Kilrathi fleet. Almost every Kilrathi task force had at least one Fralthi II battle cruiser in its fleet. Like the Hakaga Class heavy carriers, these Battle cruisers proved their worth in the Battle of Earth, which almost crippled the Terran Confederation. The Fralthi II cruisers were a bit larger than their predecessor and much more armed.
Fralthra Class Heavy Cruiser
The Fralthra class heavy cruiser must be considered one of the most effective ship designs for its time. It replaced the old Fralthi class light cruiser which was much smaller although the light cruiser was a bit faster. The heavy cruiser is designed to combine heavy armor, heavy firepower, and the ability to carry half a wing of fighters. With the extremely heavy armor, the Fralthra has the potential to be a dangerous opponent even for a Confederation Class dreadnought. Often these heavy cruisers deploy in pairs and when carrier groups are not properly screened, pairs of these heavy cruisers can decimate Confederation carrier battle groups.
Ghor'hak Class Orbital Defense (Orbital Defense Type 02)
Because the Shr'tak Class orbital defense platforms were quite successful in defending strategic junctions against terran forces, it was decided to design a newer station. It should have more fighter units, more runways for the ships and more platforms for future weapon-upgrades if there was need for it. The result was the Ghor'hak Class orbital defense platform. It was armed with 3 heavy ion cannons below the runways and had 3 dual mount mass driver turrets each above and below the station. Armoring and shields were also improved which led to an increase of overall weight.
Goran Class Fighter Bomber (Fighter Bomber Type 03)
The Goran is a Kilrathi fighter bomber introduced at the end of the Terran-Kilrathi War. The design saw its first combat in early 2269 when the KIS Shiraak lured the TCS Lexington to the Evian System, where the Empire was testing the first production Goran fighter bombers. At the time the design was the heaviest Kilrathi fighter ever produced. This record was quickly superceded by the Sorthak. Armament of the Goran fghter bomber consisted of 2 laser cannons, 2 particle cannons, 4 “Paw” dumbfire missiles, 2 “Fang” heatseeking missiles and 2 torpedoes.
Gothri Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 06)
The Gothri has to be considered one of the most effective and balanced heavy fighters ever build by the Kilrathi. The immediate predecessor, the Jalkehi, was extremely well armed but had a weakness of being less maneuverable than the closest Confederation equivalent, the Sabre heavy starfighter. The two fighter designs, the Gothri and the Sabre have the same forward gun arrays with a pair of mass drivers and a pair of particle beam cannons. They do differ in their rear weaponry with the Sabre having a pair of neutron cannons while the Kilrathi fighter has a pair of laser cannons mounted in a rear turret. Both fighters also have similar maneuverability. Shielding on the Gothri is only slightly lighter than that carried on the Sabre although the Kilrathi fighter does carry lighter armor.
Gratha Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 02)
The first in what would be an extended line of elite heavy fighters, the Gratha's design was patterned after the more complex human fighters which had achieved great success against the Kilrathi tactic of numerical superiority. Grathas drew first blood during a 2254 offensive in the Gateway system. Though their rocky deployment meant they would never come to recieve the respect assosciated with later fighters like the Hhriss or the Bloodfang, the Gratha nonetheless went on to enjoy a long and succesful career. When Kilrah comissioned its first light carriers, Gratha squadrons were the first pick for space superiority duty. Grathas would continue to find a home on fleet carriers for more than fourteen years, capping off their service with an appearance at the 2278 Battle of Terra.
Grikath Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 05)
The Kilrathi Grikath Class heavy fighter was the Kilrathi's most powerful heavy fighter at its time. The Grikath was even more powerful than the Jalkehi Class heavy fighter, which was another Kilrathi heavy fighter. The Grikath heavy fighter was a very deadly fighter used by the Kilrathi during its time. It was designed both to fight off enemy fighters with ease and to take out enemy capital ships. A Grikath had a deadly front energy mount weapon array that included four Neutron guns, which was powerful enough to destroy almost any Terran Confederation fighter caught in its wake. Its missile payload included three Friend or Foe missiles for starfighter engagements and three additional torpedoes for strikes against enemy capital ships. The Grikath was also equipped with a dual neutron gun turret in the rear for fending off chasing enemy fighters. The only real weakness in the Grikath was its lack in speed. Most Confederation fighters could out-maneuver and outrun the Grikaths, leaving Kilrathi pilots at a major disadvantage.
Grimargh Class Combat Transport
The Grimargh Class Combat transport was designed for the imperial space forces as a replacement for the aging Jakhari Class transport. The design was destined to have more room for marines, more hangars for shuttles and to be more heavily armed than its predecessor. By using the latest technology which was available for engines at that time, the combat transport also was a bit faster than its terran counterpart. Because of a high degree of automation, there was only a small crew needed to operate the huge ship. The final design became a huge success and Grimargh Class combat transports became the mainstay assault transporters.
Hakaga Class Heavy Carrier
The Hakaga Class was developed under Project Hari. They managed to overcome difficulties with translight jumping of ships above a certain size and mass. They carried the new Shoklar Class fighters due to be launched in 2269. The carriers had a shield generator capable of repulsing nearly any Confed weapon including Mark IV and V antimatter torpedoes. The carrier was at least twice the length of the "current design" as of 2268 and featured 6 launch bays, 3 after, 3 forward and the vulnerable engine nacelles were completely concealed and armored.
Hha'ifra Class Strike Carrier
The Hha'ifra Class strike carrier was the newest Kilrathi vessel during the early twenty-two sixties. The Hha'ifra design could be considered a near-perfect fusion of fleet attack carrier with the Kilrathi's preferred heavily armored battleship design. Never built in as large numbers as the mainstay Kilrathi carrier, the majority of these existing strike carriers were destroyed in an ambush at the battle of Vukar Tag and all surviving ships of the class have been retired in favor of the new Hakaga and H'varkann Class of warships.
