In 2007 i created 2 fleets after getting inspired by too many ship designers to list them all here) - one for the Terrans and one for the Altarians.
In 2008 i followed the Ship Design Thread again with great interest, but was not able to participate because of r/l.
Now a new year has started. I think it's time to start a new thread where this year you and i all can show the ship designs we created.
It doesn't matter if they were done with Dread Lords, Dark Avatar or even with Twilight of the Arnor. Just show what you think you like to show.

2007 Ship Designs
2008 Ship Designs
So, how is it. I named it the Draconian for the time being since I couldn't think of anything else at the time.
Sorry, double post.
Too pretty for a Terran ship.
Well, I'd always imagined them looking a bit like Moya from Farscape - nature strives for perfection, and a famous proverb states: "Perfection is not when there nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." No superfluous elements, no bling, just what is absolutely neccessary to do the job. No extra wings that have no function. No masses of tentacles when maybe two or three could do.
Insects are the same - only exactly those appendages that are needed - the rest is well hidden away under the exoskeleton.
I'd go for an extremely smooth, rounded approach. Sharp angles are found nowhere in nature.
Your are absolutely right, when it comes to perfection... but I really find it difficult to achieve this whith given jewellry.
My best idea would something look like this...
testessetadsfasdfasdfasdf
seems to be a move away from capital ships to fightery things
All of these ships are beautiful, and I especially love the Wing Commander reproductions by Midnightrunner. They take me back to 1990, when I was a wee lad playing WC on a Tandy with a three-button joystick (you know, the thin black kind with bright red buttons — one on the trigger, one on the top, and two on the base).
I need to get back into GalCivII again so I can crank out more ship designs of my own. GalCivII is a fantastic game even without the ship builder, but with it, it's like having two games rolled into one.
Hello everyone. I have missed building ships so have made a few for your review. As alway I look forward to read your comments.
Since my old ship designs don't work anymore, and I am sure most of you don't remember me from 2007, here are some of my favorite designs from back then. I wish I could have them back.
So I am going to try to remake them. We'll see.
The first one is a huge design while the others are tiny.

For some reason I can not get the images to show up in the forum full size. My apologies.

@PubMaster, I use your Fighter zcroc ships in ToA from DA, which are all twisted up, not good for me because I could never make them look as good as your ships again. Is there any way you make all zcroc ships for ToA for the library. You do have some really kool ships and so does Midnightrunner too, so how can I get a hold them to use.
Saint Mina of Ophelia VII of Order of the Bloody Rose of Orders Militant of Adepta Sororitas
I am currently trying to salvage what I can. Croc and Progoth were the disigners for the ships that have that tag. There are a few others I still like to use that are among the ones I am trying to fix for TA. Alot harder on some of them than I thought it would be. I will put the fixes on the library eventually with the rest of my ships. All original designers will get the credit in the ship names as well as the description.
Before there was templates I had always added a z to the ship designator so it would group all the blank designs together at the end. Now I will just post the templates but they will still have the z in the beginning out of habit.
Croc's ship pack was the first set I downloaded for GC2 and was very impressed with his concepts. I am glad you like them too.

@ Pubmaster, please let me know when you get around of doing it. I have been there trying figure out the tiny zcroc -04. The engines were twisted so bad, I had to pull one side apart and dissect to see how it was put together then of course DA to ToA has got to have missing parts. It dosen't look as good as your ships because you know how you built them.
In TA the race-style numbering system was changed and many of the cosmetic pieces were remodeled to improve symmetry, fix hardpoints that did not quite point in the right direction, etc. While this is a good thing for ships designed within TA, it means that a lot of models from DA or DL can't be directly copied over without either completely overhauling them or replacing the old models back into TA (which while it'd fix the ones you're copying in, it'd mangle the new templates similarly). So the actual solution would be to do both--copy the old models back over with different names, so they're accessible but don't replace the new ones, then update your ship design files in notepad to use them. But it's a lot of work, so only you can decide if it's really worth it. by Kryo
I found something that might help you.
Very nice. Thanks!
very nice pub...good to see some of your designs again. I may have another design up soon..I dunno...kinda hit a block when building one and haven't really touched the game in a while...I will get back to it soon I'm sure.
Thanks Mzuz! I look forward to seeing some more of yours! Maybe we can revitalize the participation on the forum.
Here are some updates from old library downloads so they will work in Twilight:
A Progoth Design
Two Croc411 Designs
And two new PubMaster Designs:
(Small Hull)
(Large Hull)
I think I just drooled looking at the last one...sexy
Here's a hankerchief. Hehe. I am glad you like it. It definitely has some sleekness to it.
yeah it does...I may have to ask for that one if you have already put it on the metaverse or something. Otherwise I may just have you send the files to me. Anyway...I have a new fighter based off that puma design again (atleast the main rear body of it). I don't have time today..but I will get it posted by tomorrow evening I would assume. It needs a little tweaking before I feel it is "showable".
EDIT: Ok...It's been more time then I've said..I have the screenshots rdy to edit into my normal 3-4 picture thing....but I've been so damn busy/tired...I will get to it ASAP.
Hi there,
looking forward to your ship-pack, PubMaster.
Happy to hear that people are still making ship-packs for ToA. I am also working on one (navy style again) that I plan to release in a few weeks.
Hiya Croc!
Good to see that you are still playing and designing! I really look forward to your next ship pack.
Have you fixed your old DA designs from the posted ship packs you uploaded for use in ToA? If you have then That Would Be Awesome! If not, no worries! I hope that you don't mind me trying to repair them.
Nope, I haven't fixed my old designs yet.The problem is that for most of them this would mean setting up another computer (i. e. my notebook) with an old GalCiv2 version next to my main PC and recreating them from scratch (by tearing apart the old design to figure out how I built it).I already did that once with a ship consisting only of 20 parts and yet it felt like a pain in the ass. I shudder at the thought of rebuilding something with 100+ parts this way. Then there's the issue of some of the old ships having simply too many parts. On the other hand, I somehow can't stand the thought of my old ship-packs being unusable. So maybe I WILL fix them for ToA some day, but I can't promise. The only thing I know for sure is that I need a break from the ship designer after finishing the ship-pack I'm currently working on. Either way, I don't mind at all if you repair them (or some of them) and include them in you ship-pack.
Hey all,
You have awesome ships guys. Bring on the navy style and the updated ships from DA. I for one, amire your hard work on ship designs. I have few ships in the making but not as good as I see here.
When I look for your ships in the library what name do I look for?
I see Croc411 but he did make zCroc-04 ships or did you PubMaster because I am little confused.
Sorry for the confusion. Croc411 made all the ships that have Croc designators in front and if you look in the ship description box it will say "Designed by Croc". Same goes with any Progoth or similar situations where an old design of someones caught my eye.
All my original designs have zPub- or zCRG and the description box will say PubMaster Design.
