In 2007 i created 2 fleets after getting inspired by too many ship designers to list them all here) - one for the Terrans and one for the Altarians.
In 2008 i followed the Ship Design Thread again with great interest, but was not able to participate because of r/l.
Now a new year has started. I think it's time to start a new thread where this year you and i all can show the ship designs we created.
It doesn't matter if they were done with Dread Lords, Dark Avatar or even with Twilight of the Arnor. Just show what you think you like to show.

Gladius Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 05)
The A-15 Gladius Heavy Fighter was developed by Grumman Aerospace as a replacement for the F/A-12 Panther which was in serivce with the Confederation Navy since almost 20 years now. The Gladius was a terran fighter used for patrol and anti-shipping missions by both the Terran Confederation and local planetary militia squadrons. The fighter saw widespread use in the Sigma Draconis Sector. The TCS Victory carried a squadron of Gladii during her assault on Sigma Draco I. Gladii were also flown by pirates and renegades in the Wolf 359 system.

Hornet Class Light Fighter (Light Fighter Type 03)
The F-36 Hornet was developed by Origin Aerospace as a high performance fighter both faster and more maneuverable than previous Confederation light fighters. It also was far more maneuverable than any other known fighters in service at the time of its introduction and the Hornet proved itself capable of flying circles around contemporary alien fighters. The Hornet first entered service in 2244 and became the mainstay of the Confederation's light fighter squadrons where it performed the roles of escort and reconnaissance. The Hornet's only real weakness was the fighter's lack of firepower. The fighter was retired after almost twenty years of service in 2261 when the next generation F-54 Epee and P-64 Ferret light fighters were introduced.
Leader Class Corvette (Corvette Type 01)
The Confederation Navy needed a new specialized missile attack ship for anti-ship missions. They chose Douglas Aerospace because of their long experience with the A-17 Broadsword. The result was the Leader Class corvette, a capital ship which can survive on its own in the heat of the battle. Armament consisted of two missile launch tubes, three ball turrets for defense against fighters, ECM-equipment and a point-defense system against incoming missiles or torpedoes. Its mass amounts 145 tons and a crew of 9 officiers is needed to operate the ship.
Longbow Class Heavy Bomber (Heavy Bomber Type 02)
The Longbow was designed as a replacement for the well known A-17 Broadsword heavy bomber. It is currently the most modern torpedo bomber operated by the Confederation Navy. It was designed by McCall Industries which also built the prototype. After rigorous testing, the Longbow prototype was given the F/A-76A designation and the bomber entered front-line service. The "F" designator was added to the design to overcome government reluctance for the new bomber, which is extremely expensive, by designating it to be a multi-role design. While much smaller that the Broadsword Bomber, the Longbow is still too large to be carried onboard escort carriers and the old F-57 Sabre fighter bomber is still retained for such vessels.
Mexican State Class Heavy Destroyer
The Mexican State class heavy destroyer is a new destroyer design which was designed and built in the early part of the 2280's. As such, the destroyer design came just in time at the beginning of the Gwynedd Offensive which started in 2291. At the time, the mainstay of the Confederation fleet were battleships and the heavy destroyer were developed to provide secondary support for the larger warships. In this role, the Mexican State Class heavy destroyer carried light reconnaissance craft and bombers which operated in the space to ground role to support ground troops; but they did not carry a fighter wing for anti-ship strikes or for fleet defense.
Morningstar Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 04)
The F-95 Morningstar, after the initial problems with the jump drive for fighters had been ironed out on the Stiletto Class, was developed by Douglas Aerospace and was the 2nd fighter design in confederation history which made use of a jump drive. For weaponry, the fighter mounts two phasor beam weapons which all fire forward. Acceleration and maneuverability are virtually identical to the Sabre fighter and they are of similar size and mass as well. While in many ways an excellent fighter, the Morningstar spent a short time in active combat service with any new fighter designs entering service which also carried jump drives. Still, the Morningstar's long range endurance, jump drive, and large anti-ship payload made it an excellent scout fighter.
Mythology Class Battleship
The Mythology class Battleship was designed by Boeing Aerospace in response to the specification 2277/BB-18-09 from the department of defense for a battleship. Boeing created a design which when built could eliminate nearly every enemy capital ship. The other participant for the design competition was Lockheed with a more conventional design. Lockheed finally gave up. Armament consisted of 4 heavy railguns firing forward, 2 torpedo tubes, 6 ball turrets for defense against fighters, ECM-Equipment and a point-defense system against missiles or torpedoes.
Omega Class Destroyer (Destroyer Type 01)
The Omega Class Destroyer was developed by Rocketdyne Industries with the idea of being capable to deliver maximum firepower combined with fighter support and troop deployment. With its 532,5 meters of length the Omega Class destroyer was one of the most powerful ships in the Confederation Navy at its time. Armament consisted of two dual action heavy cannons, 4 heavy beam weapons, 4 rear firing dual particle/laser cannons mounted in turrets after along each engine and 2 phalanx defense turrets above and below the ship. Mass production of the Omega Class destroyer began in 2268.
That was the first half of the Confederation Fleet. The second half of the fleet will follow later.
Some very nice ships there Midnightrunner
Ahh, those WC ships bring back memories. (Including memories of MS-DOS, games on stacks of floppies, and dealing with hardware before plug & play.)
Here are some of my ships, done with DA & Kyro's hull mod:
Yor Carrier Vessel:
There are fighters & corvettes in formation around the ship, but it's hard to see them because I tried to make them to scale.
One day of absence and the thread fills with more great designs and it already has been made sticky.
To say i'm enthusiastic would be an understatement.
Phantom Class Heavy Fighter (Heavy Fighter Type 06)
The F-98 Phantom was developed by Origin Aerospace in response to the specification 2285/HF-27-06 from the department of defense for a heavy fighter. It was the first real next-generation fighter, equipped with the latest weapon and shield technology. It got the best engine the industry had to offer. The result was the fastest fighter with an armament of 2 heavy phasors and 2 heavy railguns.
Pioneer Class Constructor
The Gemstone Class space miner design was developed by Douglas Aerospace in the mid 2220's. It was to replace the old constructors which were still in use during that time. Its main purpose was to build new starbases, to deliver and install new equipment and to repair starbases when needed. On both sides of the fuselages three grapplers had been mounted which could move along a bar. Besides that the constellation Class had 2 C-12 type shuttles for transport of goods to the starbases and back.
Poseidon Class Frigate
After the successful invasion of Sigma Draco I, where several Leader Class corvettes played a vital part of decimating the enemy fleet, the Confederation Navy awarded Douglas Aerospace the contract to design a frigate for the fleet. The result was the Poseidon Class frigate, big enough to go head on with any capital ship known at that time and able to withstand fighter attacks. Armament consisted of 2 heavy laser cannons firing forward, 4 torpedo tubes, 8 ball turrets for defense against fighter attacks, ECM-equipment and a point-defense system against missiles or torpedoes.
President Class Combat Transport
The first of the President Class combat transports entered service in the later part of the 2280's. They replaced the River Class transports which only had minimal conversions to act as troop ships. The converted River Class were much disliked and the President Class were far preferred by the marines carried onboard them. Each President Class can carry enough marines and support equipment as could be carried in over ten River Class transports. These ships feature a larger amount of automation and can be crewed by a total of 150 crew members.
Prime Minister Class Light Cruiser (Light Cruiser Type 01)
The Prime Minister Class light cruiser was developed by Vickers Aerospace in response to the specification 2275/LC-25-02 from the department of defense for a light cruiser. Vickers’s design envisioned the use of existing ship parts from surplus ships of the Confederation Navy. Its armament was 3 heavy neutron cannons firing forward, 4 heavy railguns mounted on the forward section and 4 ball turrets for defense against fighter attacks. Vickers won the competition, the prototype was tested in 2278 and the Confederation Navy got its first light cruiser in 2281.
Rapier Class Medium Fighter (Medium Fighter Type 02)
The Rapier was developed by Origin Aerospace and was first introduced in 2254 and was considered to be a "Super-Fighter" with a good balance of weaponry, shielding, and speed. The fighter was developed with the firepower to counter the alien heavy fighters in service at the time, while maintaining the acceleration and the agility to dogfight with quick light alien fighters. Before the introduction of the Rapier, the Confederation Space Forces lacked what was considered to be a good strike fighter. The Hornet was too small and vulnerable, the Scimitar did not have the acceleration or the firepower, and the Raptor lacked range with its guns and was not considered very maneuverable.
Rapier II Class Medium Fighter (Medium Fighter Type 03)
The Rapier was constantly updated and upgraded and went through several different models. The F-44G, or Rapier II, served as the backbone of the Confederation's fighter forces throughout most of the 2260's. Notable upgrades from the original F-44A model include advanced flight control systems and improved control surfaces, longer range plasma cannons replacing laser cannons, and improved shields. The improved shields are the probably most appreciated feature of the upgraded fighter. Other improvements include the increase in missile hard points to six missiles from five on the original F-44A Rapier.
