I know that there are plenty of Lurkers out there who enjoy a good game of Sins.
After many dev thrashing threads they need some love. Post what you really like about Sins!
I reallly like the immersive gameplay and ship design. The skyboxes and all of the little graphic detail that makes Sins of a Solar Empire a game that does not gather "dust".
The community is really good too, with devs and mods who listen to what you say and try to add it in. Ironclad is pretty amazing and more stuff is yet to roll out!
They deserve a round of applause.
This is the game that brought me back to Real Time Strategy (I've played almost nothing but World of Warcraft the last 3 years).
1)Fantastically easy resource management
2)No need to micromanage anything but I have the option to do so if I want
3)Graphically very pleasing
4)Many civil elements involved away from warmongering
5)Moves at a slow enough pace that I can manage my empire without feeling pressured
6)The camera maneuvering is outstanding along with the zoom (this could be my favorite feature of the game)
All this and much more make this game very deserving of all the 'Game of the Year' awards it's been getting. And I've only been playing for a couple of weeks so only have a few games under my belt. Looking forward to much more empire building fun.
The game is fun a solid mix of empire building and satisfying warfare. Graphically it is excellent but does not take away from the gameplay mechanics like most games now days becoming tech demos. Sins deserves more recognition than gears of bore 2 and other hyped up games that have been released.
Yeah! Two people! Anyone else?
Sins is just simply an amazing strategy title. The players option's are deep, the engine is efficient, the graphics are more than sufficient, and the all important scale is unrivaled by any other RTS. The few short commings in the game have also been largely corrected by an excellent modding community. I'd say the future is bright.
I love the ADVENT!!! If they really existed, I would idolize them!!!
I mean who wouldn't want a brain implant that augmented psychic abilities? Who wouldn't want to use those abilities against their enemies?
Seriously guys, THE ADVENT RULE!!!
What i love about this game? Well heres a betetr question what don't I love? The answer is, nothing! I love it all!
But just to name a Few:
1. The fact that everything is to scale perfectly.
2. The Simple but yet complexity of the game play.
3. The effects
4. Every little detail in each ship
5. The ability to customize your graphics settings completly so thers no excuse for a pc to have long loading times or lagg.
6. The Price
7. The artwork
8. The races (Vasari, Advent and TEC)
9. The over all instalation size (Not really big for such a great game)
10. The interface
And i could keep listing but I don't have 2 weeks lol.
I like the balance of Races. Close enough alike that I can rapidly shift tactics if to what every race I play. I would say only Starcraft pulls it off better. (my personal opinion, fell free to thrash that one).
Love the graphics and modability as well as the dedication of the devs to make the game better.
I could as well.
for product and for their endeavours with committment to the gamers,ie the consumers in their after sales support.
Overall and more ......
For me, it's the fleet centric nature of the combat. Many sci-fi fleet combat games never really create the complex reality of fleet warfare, both in terms of the actual combat, but also the strategic decisions of when and where to send a fleet out on a mission. Only Sins makes me want to watch Midway or Sink the Bismark (or the BG season one movie). That says a lot about how well Sins captures the realities of fleet warfare, something I hope gets more detailed as the game matures.
There's actually a similar post started by Blair Frasier.
So?
This game brought me away from playing only turn-based games. I played Civ IV and gave a completely unheard-of (to me) company a shot buy purchasing GalCiv2. And Dark Avatar. And Twilight of the Arnor. Even though the description of this one didn't sound like it was up my alley, I tried it. Now, I play Sins almost exclusively. Here's what I like (in no particular order):
1) It works well on an older computer.
2) I get updates for free. I haven't had any issues with Impulse.
3) I love beta access. Entrenchment is fun!
4) I enjoy that, as a player who doesn't have many hours to devote to playing, the single-player experience is fun.
5) I like being able to pause the game to get my bearings (again, I am really used to turn-based games).
6) The game is fun as they've made it, and the devs still consider input from their customers regarding how to make it better.
This could get way too long, but those are a few things I like about Sins.
I was just pointing out that a dev has started a post so it is certain that they'll see what it is that you like about the game.
What I like.....hmmmmmm..... A rock shooting Kol!!!!!
Now seriously. Love the game for the large fleet battles. This game is fun just to look at!!
I know, but that does not really get any traffic anymore.
That's easy. The great communication between IC and the gamers. I mean, no matter what kind of game you have developed, the communication and feedback from the devs is a sure bet that you will be successful. And there is simply no better example of this than Sins.
crap. sorry
My favourite part of the game is how smart your units are and how much they can take care of themselves
The community support is top notch! Seeing the developers on the forums is inspiring in this world of huge corporations and "give us your money and shut up" game development that was close to ruining gaming for me. This is the first game (in several years) that I bought when it was "new" because one of my firends showing me how awesome the game AND the community are. The large amount of care and concern from players and employees convinced me to begin taking part in the Sins Community as well. About the game itself?
It's scale is EPIC. You see these huge fleet engagements in the movies, and it's always from the hero's (very small) perspective. We finally get the Grand Admiral's (sweeping) perspective! Not to mention options and modding let you scale it up literally to the limits of your computer.
The races are distinctive. Each race has it's own flavor and distinctiveness. When you play them, you click a button in the UI to build a ship: the button is in the same spot as another race, the ship that will fill the same fleet role as another race, but the races are all so distinctive that you find yourself using radically different strategies and different fleet compositions to take advantage of each race's strengths while you try to minimize their weaknesses.
Multiplayer options. This one is most important to me. Any game has a learning curve, and players start with whatever single player modes are available until they learn the ropes. The single player modes are great, and all of the options that you can set before a game gives the game great replayability. As players finally start itching for a little more human in their games, this transitions to the cooperative comp stomp. It's multiplayer, but it's not cutthroat. If another player is much better than you, it's evident, but doesn't end with you feeling helplessly steamrolled! Plus the comp stomp is a great place to learn from other people. Finally, when players feel ready, they can go head to head in whatever types of games that suit their fancy. The options available for speed, size, map, teams, resources, and modding gives any type of player the kind of strategy game they want to play.
Empire tree. Can't forget this one! The empire tree was needed in strategy games of this scope and I can't believe that it hasn't made an appearance in any of the galactic conquest games I've played so far. "Leave no hard fought territory underdeveloped because you can't figure out where it was!"
Great game!!! 9/10! I'm eagerly awating whatever remaining expansions are planned. And (not to rush anything) but I am excited to see where this franchise goes in the next installment!
Please, Stardock, Ironclad, and the rest that brought us this great game: Keep your companies small enough to be agile, and large enough to meet deadlines. When you've gotten so big that a good idea in the morning can't be a project by the afternoon, then all the good ideas will be watered down by commitees to the point that they are now just compromises.
Old Man!!, words of wisdom and experience and so, so, true.If anybody has a qualm re Sins should read your thread and then maybe realise just how good this game and its support is,even though there is some minor hiccups atm, they will be sorted out in time.Kudos to you my friend ...
One thing you all have forgotten ... the fantastic AI!!!
My mate and me often play against the AI and its realy cool!
We love this game!!!
See this is why SoaSE will win game of the year!
This is what I love about Sins.
I love the shear size of fleets in this game. This is my first game where I get to construct a massive space battle fleet and send it out to crush my enemies. Another thing I enjoy are the sizes of the ships. To me it is so cool to zoom up right next to a flak frigate and compare it to the size of a Capital that is sitting right next to it. It just makes this great game even more grand.
Thanks Ironclad, you do us proud!
